Just made a quick salad of Iceberg & Romaine Lettuce, Cherry Tomatoes from the Wife's Garden, Red Onion, and Sour Dough Croutons...with Sea Salt, Fresh Cracked Pepper, and Olive Oil & Red Vinegar Dressing.

...it was too DAMN HOT to cook !!

...and a few Sam Adams Summer Ales !!

.

Neighbor did the cookout/barbecue thing with the usual food offerings, ribs, chicken, dogs & hamburgers.

I found a nice shady spot and sipped on Tequila & Coronas while listening to all the trash talk!

Since I didn't feel like cooking yesterday, I went to the local ShopRite and got some of their fried chicken.

I made some rice sides & mixed veggies to go with it.

Fried Spam...a true Americana delicacy.

Check out all the flavors it came in:

Heavens yes my friend. Growing up in Philly, I remember all the Devil Ham commercials, especially in the 60's.

I use to spread it on crackers as a snack. I don't think I've had it since!

My Mother would pack it in my grade school lunches sometimes...

but, my favorite lunch time sandwich was always Skippy and Welch's Grape Jelly. :D

My least favorite was baloney & cheese...which would basically melt in those hot class room "cloak rooms" and taste like I imagine ass would taste like !! :vomit:

If that was packed for my lunch that day...I'd toss it and go hungry rather than eat it !!

LMAO:ROLF: I remember eating those semi melted/hot baloney & cheese sandwiches that we kept in our cartoon character lunch boxes! Heck back then grammar schools didn't have A/C, they just opened the windows!

But back then we didn't seem to mind!

Good ole PB & J's, I ate so damn many of them as a kid that by the time I was in Jr. high, I hated them!

This was also one of my favorites growing up in Philly:

I still like them, just not as often, lol.

Speaking of tuna. I'm sure you remember "Three Diamond Tuna" & that jingle they use to play back in the 60's.

One of my good friends is heir to the Three Diamond Company, & is also from the Philly area who just happened to graduate from " Lasalle College High School", I think in 71. Remember that school?

Hey buddy, I neglected to mention that I learned something from you yesterday!

When you made reference to the lunch boxes in the"Cloak Rooms" back in grammar school, I learned something.

I always thought they were called "Coat Rooms", because that's where we hung our coats and stuff. But heck, what would I know? I was just a dumb city kid in grade school!

Guess your never too old to learn something, eh!

Our Saint Matthew's RC Nuns called them Cloak Rooms...because they did wear "cloaks" with their habit...not coats.

http://stmatthewmayfair.org/

The 'lay' teachers called them Coat rooms.

Either way it stuck... as it was beat into me !!

A yard stick at a time...

{ Welcome to my Nightmare } :hit head:

.

LMAO Buddy!!!

Oh yeah, we forgot to mention that the yard sticks & rulers were also used on the hands inside those rooms!

And they had Boxer & Wrestler names...

Names like Sister Lucia Left Hook... Sister Candice Choke Ya Out...and Sister Paula the Puncher...Sister Salina the Slasher...Sister Mary Mangle You !!

It's a wonder I lived through that prison yard arena...

.

Those experiences are long gone, forbidden these days & never to return, however those same experiences are also what made us better persons my friend!

OK buddy, ya lost me on that one?

I was making reference to the discipline with yard sticks & rulers we got back in grammar school as kids!

Unheard of today and i'm not sure if I can make a correlation between that and my love for guns!

The Nuns...I started packin' iron for protection from them... Just joking my friend...hence the "smiley"

Speaking of Dinner...it's THAT time !!

Catch Ya Later...!!
