What all do you use in your Quiche? We like those quite well
I use butter in the crust. Then half lb. each of bacon in small pc., breakfast sausage crumbled, linguica cut into small pc. (all 3 cooked separately). That's the part that takes time. Then about 1 to 1-1/2 cups of a good cheese. Then the 4-5 eggs, 1.5 c. heavy cream, salt, pepper, nutmeg. Bake the crust at 350 for 15 min while mixing up the egg stuff. Throw it all in the pie crust and bake at 375 for about 40-45 min. Let stand about 5 min. before cutting. Sometimes I will chop spinach or kale but don't have any fresh right now.

Sounds good. Now I need to look up Linquica. Never heard of that before

Edit: Yeah that would be very good.

@LadyLocust - that quiche sounds delicious. We haven't made one in a while and I'm craving one now!

Got the raised beds in our hoop house topped off with compost and garden soil. My better 1/2 planted them out. Fingers crossed we don't get any hard freezes the rest of this winter/spring. Hoping to get 2-3 crops out of each bed this year :)

@phideaux You had me going with the hobby lobby photo. It was very slow loading to my browser...

I guessed the HO and thought, Hooters? And the only photo he posts is the building?? 😂

Went to the little town about noon, had lunch and ran errands. At home... a mysterious liquid appeared in the bottom of my fridge and ran into the veggie drawer. Oops! So I emptied the entire fridge into coolers, threw away several questionable items and scrubbed every shelf/drawer/cubby... nothing since but a little tv except...

A lady called, grew up 2 miles from me. Known her my whole life, or her whole life since she’s younger than me. She had a medical issue and needs a certain plant, it’d do wonders for her. She knows it works because she had this issue as a kid. Her grandfather used to gather this plant, her grandmother would make a tea for her.

I had a chat with the lady's dad a few years before he passed away, a very good man. He knew I was studying plant medicine and mentioned a plant his dad use to harvest sometimes. But his dad never told anyone in the family where this plant grew, except the general area (25sq mi).

It took me 2 years to find this place and I really searched, miles of creeks/brush. Days spent driving back roads so I do keep this place a secret.

It may come back to bite me but today I told the lady I’d take her there. I’d show her how to gather it, make medicine from it. I didn’t hesitate, it was her grandfathers secret spot. I wouldn’t have known about it but for her dad. It was the right thing to do… but if you let the cat out of the bag everyone can see it. I’m having second thoughts this evening, only time will tell if I’ll regret this.

Must be the day for the mysterious liquid running down in the fridge all to the veg drawer where all the veg and bags they were in were soaked red. I had to clean the whole thing out, too.
A baggie of ripe raspberries were on the top shelf and the kids put a heavy bowl right on top of them. Opened the baggie, squished the berries, and viola! Mystery solved. Grrr.

I think you did the right thing, @Peanut. Her dad trusted you with that information - how could you not turn around and trust her with it? Maybe by spending time with her, empowering her to harvest it and make her own medicine, you’ll also be able to impart the specialness of sharing that information with her.

I don't understand women...

So last fall I had a few dates with a widow in her 40s. Nothing much came of it, and she just kind of told me out of the blue that she didn't want to see me any more. OK, fine. She posted herself on social as being in a relationship two days after that and deleted me, so I know she was seeing someone else too. Still no biggie, it was only a few dates. That was early November, no contact since. Last night I'm out with my daughter, and she texts me out of the blue, Can I ask you a question? I said ok, what do you want. Honest to God, she said this:

"If a guy sprays cologne on his junk, is that a reason to be concerned?"

What in the actual f***? I had to ask if it was a serious question, she says yes. I told her I wasn't interested in whatever she had going on with some other guy's cologne covered junk. I should have told her to go ask her dad.

This kind of stuff is why I'm single...

My gosh, get rid of and block her number!!

Been busy checking the big fat sheep ewes every 2 hours to see if they are having lambs. We have 3 so far but the one with prolapse not yet. It's still miserably cold out, I am so sick of it!!! I think this is the worst winter we have had so far. We have burnt 2 cords of wood already

I started seeds but if the weather stays like this there is no way I can plant anything until freaking May.....

I haven't actually checked but the weather site says it's 12 degrees out right now, yuck.

In between checking sheep, cooking and dishes which is all I have been doing last week except one shopping trip, I have been watching something sort of weird on Netflix, this reality tv show Love is Blind. There are 3 of them on there, one from US, one from Brazil and one from Japan. I just watched a few shows of each so far and this is what I think. First, it's most likely fake I realize that, but it does show very clear cultural differences. Once again I think I should have been Asian!! LOL, I like the people on the Japan one most. The Brazilians to me are nasty , the women are nasty tattoo covered skanks, sorry. Some of the US ones are weird too. But then again who in their right mind would go on a reality tv show to get married

Stuff around the house today and a bit outside. Little granddaughter's mom and the boyfriend will be visiting her, but not here anymore. We are meeting at a park in the bigger town that has a playground. So, we'll be hanging out in the truck reading a book, while they visit. If they're late, more than 15 minutes, I'm out of there. No family dinner with all the cousins tonight till everyone is well again.

Finished the tape and mud on the bedroom drywall. Now I just need to figure the plan to tape and mud the ceiling above the stairwell. I have a couple ideas, hopefully I pick the right one because if I fall it may be a while before I can attempt another option.
Pastor and his wife from the GF's church came over to hang out and chit chat last night. Good relaxing evening. Had a few drinks, so when they left I went to bed and was out within minutes. Slept great until about 4am. Tried to fall back to sleep but that didn't work so came out to the computer for a bit.
Gonna design a Tshirt to match the sign I just painted for the homestead. I think I have a shirt my size. Maybe, but I guess I should look into ordering some more.

I've been distracted the last several days. Lost track of what day it was. Had some headaches but am feeling a bit better now. I actually got some good sleep last night once people stopped waking me up. Woke up to a cat pouncing on me. Apparently food bowls were empty. Sams and Walmart have been out of the Purina Cat Chow Complete so I got indoor cat kind and they don't like it very much. I might see if Temjin & Namir like it better instead. But I've ordered more of the complete from online.

Been having internet troubles because my brother didn't run the test properly when we were setting up. Need a longer pole to clear trees to the east.

Jim, the puppy is adorable.

Survived the visit with little granddaughter's mom and the boyfriend at the park. Brought lunch and fed the canadian geese in the ponds, so that passed the time. She is a nutcase. Grandson brought his skateboard for the skatepark there. Beautiful day out. Home now, and little granddaughter and the neighbor boy Levi are throwing water balloons off the second floor of the barn. Older granddaughter just went to dinner at her boyfriend's house. We are relaxing.

I ended up teaching a class this afternoon. First time I've taught a wild herb class in winter. The lady from my last post came up with her husband. We spend an hour in my kitchen talking plants, looking at some of my tinctures. She took photos of all my books. She loved my library!

Turns out she had dabbled with essential oils a few years ago but it wasn’t the medicine her grandfather taught her as a child. She couldn't make the connection between the two. She’d found no real herbal medicine books, just the herb of the month crap from magazines or click bait websites. She had no one with real knowledge to teach her about herbs so she stopped messing around with oils.

She was like a kid in a candy store in my herb room. Enthusiastic doesn’t even describe her. She kept warning me she was going to be calling often. I’m thrilled, in all the classes I’ve taught I’ve never seen anyone this eager to learn.

Then we took a drive to the place where her grandfather used to collect a herb for her, beyond thrilled. On the way I stopped a few times and I showed them some very special plants. A very good afternoon! And I'm exhausted...

That is truly messed up! I'm with @Pearl block that number.

That's awesome! It can be really difficult to find natural, botanical medicine info. void of all the "woowoo" junk. I know this to be true.

We went skiing today - great snow but they hadn't groomed anything so it was all like powder. I'm not a superstar on the slope so I called it good a little early. I had some good runs and didn't want to end by crashing. Hubby went for another 4 runs and had a blast doing trees and cliffs. Lots of people - then we figured it out. Tomorrow is Pres. Day - oh yea.
