Worked with the animals and garden for about 4 hrs this morning, and drug the granddaughters out to help. Then it got too hot. Cleaned up and husband and I went to lunch at the amish place. Had a BLT and fries. We looked up Juneteenth while there, because Emancipation Day was a January 1st in the 1850's. Google said the term was coined in Texas, two years and 6 1/2 months after emancipation day because that's when Texas heard about it. Soldiers had to come and tell them. Sounds pretty weird to me. And asked ol Mr Google was Juneteenth (the word means) and they said it was a combo of the words June and nineteen. Retarded.

What the hell is "Juneteenth" and why is my bank closed because of it?! I ran over a kitten on the way back in damn it! Now I got to bury him!
When they adopt a holiday, we need warning damn it! Now my day is shot and I wasted 5$ of gas!
It's not the "teenth" of anything anymore, what the f? Did Biden do this?
Another made up holiday to get the black vote and appease the 13%.

What platform/version did you try? Hard to believe it's been almost 30 years since I played MYST for the first time.
It's Myst 2021 - which just came out last year ( ). I have to say it knocked my socks off the improvement in the graphics overall. Fortunately it's been long enough since we've played it (or I'm just getting senile enough) that the puzzles are all new and a challenge again :)

My kids say the VR gameplay is amazing, but my stomach doesn't handle being in VR very well....

I finished weeding the pachysandra at the rental property. I enjoyed it because the temps were ideal and every time I filled a 5 gal bucket I took a break and sat by the pond.

We took the youngest granddaughter on a road trip to a place that specializes on fish. If I hadn't ruled out salt water fish decades ago the sticker shock would have convinced me. An 11" long striped shark for $1000. The low prices were $150 and average maybe $350. Per fish.

We went for feeder goldfish for the pond.

2 dozen for less than $14 is more to my liking.

I've often thought we're getting to the place where so many special interest groups are going to be wanting a holiday for their causes we're going to have to do something like assign everyone 3 floating holidays and they can choose which ones they want to celebrate. Want Juneteenth, or Yom Kippur or Festivus off? Fine, it'll count as one of your 3. Otherwise we'll barely ever go into work because of Drag Queen Parade day, Tree Huggers Day in the Woods, or whatever else they come up with!

Our company kinda does that now with some regional holidays. We have a bunch of plants in Utah, where Pioneer Day (when the pioneers reached Utah) is a big deal with the LDS majority who don't celebrate Good Friday. So the Utah plants get Pioneer Day off, and the rest of the company gets Good Friday.

Wow - I used to be big into saltwater fish before the kids came into the picture and put us in the poorhouse (and I wouldn't have it any other way!) Used to breed seahorses, would sell a mated pair for $25. Just looked online and they are selling for $150-200 🤯 I wish I'd kept with it, but we sold all my equipment when we moved out west.

Landshark's dog coat/ PJ's turned up yesterday and I'm impressed with the quality and the fit.
So, Landshark spent the night outside curled up on what's left of her foam bed.
I chose this dog coat because it covered her belly and back end ...she doesn't have any hair on her belly and her coat is extremely fine and short.
I made the mistake of not putting the e-collar on her and I had to get up once to roar at her.
She was seriously worked up.
The only thing that kept her in the yard was the 5 strands of electric fence.....a 6 foot fence doesn't cut it these days.
What was fabulous was waking up and not finding a huge lake of pee and mounds of poo, broken appliances and a busted crate door.
It gets to the point where you just got to say Enough is ENOUGH and I've put up with enough of her monkey shine so, outside she goes!

Glad you survived, Curmudgeon. Our town is still very small, so no stress there. The bigger town is another story.
George Floyd day, really? Why people want to honor that man is beyond me.
Glad you put Landshark in her place, Tank. She will learn.
Going outside to put up a window bird feeder. Have to decide what window to put it on. Grandson will be home from work soon, and was asked to help bale tonight, after a wheat harvest today. Straw baling. He'll start at 8 p.m. and will go till midnight I bet. Harvest is going full force around here.

Been kinda busy. Thursday set out 45 pounds of chicken to thaw. Friday I cooked it down and boned it. Visitation at funeral home 6-8. Saturday starting filling quart jars. 14 quarts of chicken and 3 pints, 16 pints broth, 6 pints of smoked ham from New Years, 4 pints peas from garden. Picked corn and shucked it and pulled up some potatoes. 2 canners going 3 times. Plus 2 daughters, 2 son in laws and 4 grands came to visit for Father’s Day. Their dad at camp house since Wednesday helping brother move 700 round bales hay. They bought me a zero turn John Deere used. They really laughed at me when I started mowing. Been 10 years since I mowed with one. Another daughter and her boys came by with the two red Brahman heifers they showed at TJBA State show in Bryan. SIL went and picked up pizza. Boys hung my TV on wall and fixed my dishwasher. After they left at10:30, cat came out and cried all night. I thought she was missing husband. Went to clean cat litter before Sunday school and it was gone. Some munchkin put it on sewing table, filled water bowl with cat food and cat litter. Lol Cat hungry and thirsty. Sunday school, hour at nursing home with mother in law, home, dug last row of potatoes, pulled corn, shucked, creamed and into freezer. Pulled corn stalks and fed to cows. Today I Pulled rest of cornstalks for cows, TS for parts for spray rig this morning, did ironing, nap , finished mowing. Happy for AC. no break in heat this week or rain expected. Back to work tomorrow

I'm amazed that she didn't rip off and destroy her new coat and what's left of her foam bed. It's is still in the same shape it was yesterday.
I was pretty convinced that when I woke up this morning both were going in the bin.
I'm 100% fed up with my house smelling like a kennel not to mention the sheer cost involved in replacing everything she destroys.
My bathroom isn't the same after her night of terror and needs a major refit.
The door jam where she could reach has chuncks out of it and still needs to be replaced.

Thanks. I live on the outer edge of a village, one C store/gas station, bank and Post Office, pretty small, yet still too big. I would prefer to step outside and hear nothing, except wildlife..

The bigger town is another story.

That is where we went, it's close to 20 miles to the stores we shop at, we make one hard run a month and hit three or four, any subsequent trips is just for small restock..

At work, before I started working there, MLK day was added as a holiday. You could choose between president's day or MLK day. Apparently the overwhelming number went for president's day year after year. So the option was removed. This is getting out of hand and will get worse.

I need a nap just reading that!
Well, we survived.
Whew! Don't you just breathe a sigh of relief when you make it back home?

Just worked. Supposed to warm up to the 80s this week.

Yep, Txcatlady, I'd need a long nap after your day. Nice you got a zero turn. I'd be a reckless driver with one. (Ha). Little granddaughter finally cleaned her room this evening. Been going on two days...no tv till it's cleaned, and she likes a little tv before bedtime. No sneaking watching Wagon Train with us when we eat lunch. She's a stubborn thing. Didn't even get a soft serve cone when we dropped off her sis for work today. Grandson still out baling. I'll leave the porch light on for him.

My state’s primary election was last month, which I didn’t know about until 4pm that day. As usual there were dozens of names I’ve never heard of except a few.

The primary run-off is tomorrow so I took time to research some of the candidates this afternoon.

Like most states, the political families here are old, the same names keep coming up every few decades.

From looking at my sample ballot for tomorrow I saw folks seemed fed up with old family names last month. Several old names didn’t make it to the run off. I’ve been of the same mindset for a long time. I’d rather take a chance on some young clueless ideologue than keep old swamp monsters.

I’m afraid folks here are about to make a mistake with this mindset. Instead of an incumbent us senator/trump guy but old… I’m afraid they are going to vote for a young woman not realizing she is Sen Shelby’s protege. He’s a very old swamp monster, been in the US senate since ‘84.

I’ll find out tomorrow night.

Hopefully I'll finish a few projects too.

We have spent the last few days finding new furniture pictures, decor and rugs for our place. It really made a big difference I’m really enjoying the sectional with 4 power recliners. We had always bought second hand furniture Alexandra was excited to pick out exactly what she wanted.

WOW, Alexandra has GREAT taste!! Absolutely beautiful!!

Today was an unexpected day off. Was talking to the boss last week and said something about scheduling fieldwork for the 20th, and he says "you want to work on your day off?" I was clueless. He said it was juneteenth and I said that's not a word, you're making that up! He laughs at me a lot for being a cranky old woman who doesn't watch tv. So I did a bunch of work outside trying to finish planting the garden and cleaning up the greenhouse (yeah, I'm behind on everything) then rode my motorcycle up to my Mom's and went kayaking for a little while. So tired when I got home, but can't sleep so here I am, noodling around on the internet.

Had a good weekend with my boys, and the GF's daughters, and some visitors Saturday evening. Good weekend overall.
Did a bit of work on the electrical outside for the patio. It was slow going but with my son helping today I was able to fish a line through 20 feet of 1/2" EMT conduit and pull the wires through the bends and turns. It actually took 4 of us for the
Sitting here laughing to myself. I like curse ground mustard, and occasionally the hot stuff, but since the days of the old commercial I regularly joke and ask people at random times not related to food or eating "Do you have any Grey Poupon?" Well, a couple months ago my GF bought a small jar of Grey Poupon at the grocery store. Well, it is kinda mustardy flavored but not anything special. Last week she came home from Costco with a 2 pack of large jars of Grey Poupon. I decided to be nice and say "Thank You", and now I am hoping she doesn't stock up on this lousy stuff. I am the only one who will eat it, no one else likes mustard.

Store run in town today, I'm low on beer and I'm out of double-sided tape for the posters I'm putting up in my home. I've been using that T-Rex brand of tape, it's pricey but it seems to work well. I don't want the posters peeling off the walls in six months, lol. Otherwise, I'm enjoying a rainy day with the cats and the wild birds... some of those birds don't mind the rain, they're out there in the wet and they seem to like it. I saw a dove sitting on an exposed pine branch, rain coming down... the bird could've shifted a few feet along the branch and been relatively dry, but it seemed to prefer the rain. Taking a bath, I guess... which is fine, no law against it here on my property, lol. My cat Crackhead came in a while ago, soaking wet, and I had to towel him dry, the knucklehaid! I think he does that on purpose to get the rubdown with the towel... 😒

Power outage this morning about 5am, it just came back on. They have been doing maintenance the past few weeks replacing poles and other stuff but usually they give us a heads up, today they did not but I guess that is good because I would not have enjoyed a phone call at 4am waking me up to tell me the fan would be shutting off. I can't fall asleep without background noise. Woke up at 6:30 and discovered the power was off so used my phone to get RAIN noise from YouTube and fell back asleep. Woke up again when my phone died.
Beautiful day here, Not sure what is on the agenda.

So busy today! Watered garden first and then walked.
Walked dogs.
Made beef and broccoli (but with venison) in instant pot.
Pressure canned little smokies in BBQ sauce I made from leftover Candied jalapeno juice.
Shredded cheese.
Went on the new bookkeeping app (go daddy retired their site) and discovered I really dislike it, so will be changing that soon.
Harvested in garden and shored up some tomatoes.
Still have to water again tonight.
