I'm wore the hell out...

Went in to work at 6AM like usual. We had two switches to install outside of Lodgepole, Nebraska. It did not go well. One of the switches got torn up twice when the crawlers were moving it. So we had to put it back together twice. I didn't get off work until after 10PM. I'm so tired that taking a shower sounds like a lot of work. Luckily, our union contract stipulates that we have to have at least 10 hours rest between shifts so I don't have to go in until 8AM tomorrow...

First day of school for the kiddos. I think the twins left for the before school breakfast already, if not, they are upstairs and late. I'll take little granddaughter to her 6th grade class in about an hour.
We have an appt to go see a solar guy today about expanding what we have. And probably will fill a cart at Aldi.

Trip to the family farm store for barn cat food, USPS lost my last order from amazon. Trash day, then put the new ceiling fan up in Lori's craft room. After that, spray the morning glories with roundup, those things refuse to die. Then 2 aleve, shower and a nap :)

Rainy day, so I catch a break, lol... never did make it to the store yesterday, so I'm heading there today after I exchange some books at the library. Need more Westerns to read as I monitor the cats & kittens. I'm hoping the rain keeps falling all day so I score a free "redneck car wash" en route to town. Kittens were running all over the place a minute ago, but I think they've crashed... I gave them their first taste of wet food this morning, solely as a treat since they're supposed to be kept on a dry food diet. They sure gobbled up that food, lol... but they're so active that I don't think they'll have any problems with it. I'll probably give 'em an occasional taste of wet food every few days, so they don't get bored with the Kitten Chow. Here they are pigging out this morning on the wet food:

That's the unfinished kitchen, I need to paint the walls & ceiling and mop the floor, lol... but not today!

I get to see the allergist today, a month early! That’s the good news.

The bad news is that we had so much rain, so hard yesterday that we got the fun of filing another insurance claim. It came in through the tops of the windows in the basement and through the master bedroom door.
For those suffering from allergies here is a respirator that has worked for others with sever allergies and I use them a lot when welding toxic materials......the kind of stuff that poisens me and gives me a instant nasal infection that takes antibiotics to cure. They are a bit of a pain to wear but leading a more normal life and getting around is worth it. Long slow breathes in and out works best.

Went to look at a car for daughter, then scared myself with the cost of insurance. Now filling in college paperwork and enjoying the peace, visitors have gone on a road trip, be back tomorrow
I feel your pain. The kiddo we have been raising turned 18 and passed his driving test. Got a older car and insurance that is separate from our family policy. $1500.00 for six months minimum insurance here in montana. I payed the first month and now it is either a job or a bicycle for him.

Stayed home again..just not ready to be climbing all over a machine, throwing heavy pine around n all that jazz. I feel alot better tho. Energy is comming back stronger, no more voodoo pains, still have a annoying cough but sore throat is almost gone.
I decided to give the dog a nice trail walk..nothing to long but a outting for us both was good.
I saw bear turds bigger than my feet. I got about a quarter mile down the trail n turned around. I've heard a momma bear is spending the summer around this stretch of trail.
Let the dog run around the river, as I got to my truck I ran into the BLM folks getting back to their truck. They left the trailhead same time I did but we went opposite directions. They ran into momma bear.
I then went n picked half a bucket of apples for the goats. The goats dont care that the apples are not quite done. It's a nice treat for them.
Now I'm going to organize some stuff n relax the rest of the day.

Made it back to the ol' hacienda, now I'm set with a stack o' Western books and Duke DVDs. Picked up the original movie 'HOW THE WEST WAS WON'---not the series, the original flick---so I may watch it this afternoon, I haven't seen it in ages. All set with food & beer for the next few days, rain is still coming down at intervals... and I DID score the free "redneck car wash" on my way back from town, lol. I really need to rotate those tires to get the last life out of the treads, but I'll do that when the rain is gone and it's dry outside. Kittens are rocketing around like meteors, those knucklehaids! Between the cat toys and my socks & slippers dragged everywhere, my room looks like a war zone!!!

Meh, no big deal, I say let 'em rip... I'll straighten the mess later! Beer first! Rain falling! Easy afternoon ahead!

Tree guy came today, wanted more $$ that I had considered. I had originally decided on 6 trees. One tree was an addon, not necessary, two others I can drop easily. My thought being, if he’s here cutting why not take a couple more. But at $200 per tree...

We settled on 3 trees that absolutely have to go, all 3 are dangerous to cut. He’ll be here Friday. Tomorrow I’ll drop the 2 easy trees and get them out of the way. And I have to move my hive of bees, not far, about 50ft.

Rained about an inch this morning, everything is a soggy mess outside. So I’ve been doing laundry, mopping etc. Y'all gonna laugh, I actually mopped my walk in shower.

This morning I was cleaning the bathroom. I filled the mop bucket with pine-sol/wtr and got out the new mop I’d bought. Then I sprayed down the shower with cleaner and was looking for a sponge. I noticed the new mop and thought why not? So I mopped the shower.

My shower surround has about 50sqft of surface area (not counting shelves). Either a little sponge for cleaning or a mop, think I’ll go with the mop. In same time it’d have taken to clean it once with the sponge I mopped it 3 times. Rinse/repeat. It’s actually cleaner.

Now I have to buy a new mop just for the shower, not gonna use the one for the floor. (sounds nuts but I have cfs, I go to extremes to make things easier)

Question – anyone tried to replace the silicone putty used to seal the seams in a shower surround? The bottom seam between the panels and base? The putty in that seam is looking grungy. I should replace it.

I did one not long ago.

Cleaned shower with vinegar and dishwashing soap.

Let it dry a few days.

Remove old sealant. Used razor blade to get it all.

Clean area to be sealed with acetone.

Ready to seal.

It is intact save the front hinge.

Rant time
When opening a large old book opening the front cover is limited to less than 90 degrees.

Ir you need to open it farther lay the book on it's spine and open it to the middle. Page forward or back from there.

Chores this morning, then late morning, husband and I met with a solar guy at his place and picked his brain. Husband wants a bigger system, so he'll be giving us an estimate for what we think we're needing. Came home and had lunch, and then filled a cart at Aldi. My favorite cousin's son in law came by with his girls to get some chickens. They were down to two. I gave them nearly 20 that should start laying in a couple of months. Fun stuff chasing down chickens with two little girls. That should help them with eggs for this fall and winter.

I cut putty with razor and used silicon caulk to replace in my marble shower. Smooth carefully with finger and clean up Quickly

Worked some more on Ruby's cabinet. Duke's mayonnaise really soaks into the wood well.

Planted kohlrabi, lettuce, transplanted strawberries. Pulled up what died and left what was living.

Contacted one of my ancestral homelands about farms and gardens in their area. I am of Scottish, Irish, German, British and Jewish descent. This is the first time I have done this but the castle has some records of farming and gardens going back to the 1400s. I just want to see how they did it.

PT appointment this morning, and prepping for canning tomorrow. Maybe canning this afternoon, not sure. I need to do some bug fixes on our game, too.

Saw the allergist yesterday! A month early! I’m glad I asked to be put on the waiting list. I’m scheduled for testing and starting the process for shots or drops next month. Thank goodness.

Ben, that is a beautiful Bible. I make a cover for it.but I do not have the skills to rebind it. This is my wife’s Bible cover she opted not to have me dye the leather she is going to let Brother Time do his magic and accept the petina that he chooses. I did insist on painting the light house timer window yellow for the light.

Volunteered at the old cemetery.
Got my tires aired.
Got stuff from my sister. Left stuff too.
Still waiting to hear from the castle about their farm and garden. They probably think I'm crazy.
Going to plant more stuff.
Going to do school work.
Will play with Ruby.
Checked on Ruby's belt. It's coming.
