Vicks and Ben Gay. Two smells that I don't really want to smear on my body. Even if they help some ailment. Lavender is another one. Roses are yet another. I'm more of a Hoppes #9 kind of person.
there is actually sort of an unscented ben gay. But there's also Tiger Balm, also available unscented. The scented stuff is so strong, menthol, peppermint, and what else, eucalyptus? Olive oil applied to the feet is a help too.

@Peanut I am sorry to hear of your losses. That is too young.

Found out over the weekend a dear friend from back east passed away, stage IV prostate cancer, had metastasized to his liver. Glad I saw him last time I was back there. He had questions after my husband passed away as his fight with cancer had just started.
Makes me really sad/mad that guys get all these symptoms and some will do nothing, or by the time they do something, it is too late because of the rapid progression and other extenuating health circumstances that they might not realize they have. Nobody wants to talk about it.

Today I ran out to get dog food but had to go further, tried to make my errands as quick as possible because there are too many people out there. Sick of trying to get a sale price at the one grocery. Will have to go back in and dispute the sale price of the pecans I picked up. Was too busy at check out to notice price ring-up. Yes, I didn't go to self-check.
I should have wrapped the AC unit today and put the spigot protectors on. Hope to get that done tomorrow. Got the trash out.

Quite chilly here in montana so I am methodically cleaning and sorting the house. Today i worked on two rooms that we want to use for something besides a giant pile of stuff. I did get one big top shelf in our front door closet ceaned totally out. Sorting thru the orphan gloves and rubber banding two of similar size together.
Found one good Buck hunting/fighting knife under the pile. So that was a plus.
Only 190 days till summer.

I love PAW movies. I saw one tonight that rings home with what is going on today. It is called Humanity Bureau. Nick Cage but still watchable. Another one I liked was Snow Piercer. "Eat ze bugs!"

Still getting ready for the holidays. Will be starting my baking tomorrow. Pizza dough first then some beer bread and cookies. Rice krispies the night before my folks come.

It's a lovely 17 out right now, and not getting much warmer today. Animal chores will be a challenge. I need to pick up neighbor girl and bring her to school. Stopping at the post office. Back to make breakfast for husband, get animals done. Then picking up amish neighbor and her two little ones, dropping the little ones off at grandmas, and then it's shopping day. I'm guessing she wants to go to Aldi and then to Walmart, with chic fil a in between. Tonight we'll be driving to another town about 20 minutes away, and going thru the Christmas light drive thru show. A family puts it on each year, and it's very cool, the decorations even move to Christmas music. Neighbor boy Levi is going with us and we'll go to Braums for dinner afterwards.

Peanut so sorry you lost another relative and this one so young, that's so sad :(

TeeJ: about 20 years ago when we lived in Orlando I was robbed once ( left my stupid purse with everything in it in my car while it was raining to get kids out of daycare, someone busted the window and stole it) and they did everything they could to get as much money as possible. I ultimately didn't lose any money but it was a huge hassle.

Zannej: I feel like that too today, exhausted....

Yesterday I took care of animals mostly by myself until son got up and helped while husband went to town to get grain for the animals
Then I cooked lunch and took the dogs out. Then we went to the other town to do the laundry ( all the bedstuff, 6 large garbage bags full ) . I met an interesting woman and we had a nice conversation so time passed relatively fast but then one of the washers didn't spin the clothes and I had to start it over.
Went shopping and got propane containers refilled after that, then got home just in time to put up animals before dark. After that I still had a pile of dishes to do. Today, my shoulder hurts again...not surprised

And more stuff to be done . Tomorrow is Yule and I want to decorate , and bake a sweet potato pie. Plus still have to finish putting the laundry away and getting the guest bedroom ready. They have picked the coldest Christmas ever to come visit. It is supposed to drop here to around zero . Not good. I hope the animals will be ok but we have lots of bedding the barn and all the windows are covered with plastic. That's the best we can do. Well, plus take hot water buckets to them

You deserve a nice vacation!!♥️

Good morning!
I will start out making sweet potato treats (for dogs). I slice them in food processor and then dehydrate them in the oven. Takes a few hours.
Then write more ebay drafts on shoes.
Hopefully, it will stop raining by then and I can walk and then walk dogs.
We will start giving Oreo pills this evening to sedate him for tomorrow's vet visit.

Early start after a good night's rest, went to bed early last night, lol. Nice day outside, still a bit chilly but nothing compared to what some of you are facing this week. Ice in the birdbaths again, but I've already poured hot water into them to loosen things up... I swap out the water every afternoon when the hoses in the yard aren't frozen, lol. I laid out a sumptuous feast for the wild birds this morning, they've been having a rough time with all these freezing nights. I might run to the library to pick up more Westerns for the holidays, I have no reading material here at the ol' hacienda, and I don't like reading off the web or any screen... to me, reading means lying down and relaxing while enjoying a good story! No big plans today except to work on my 'Road Safety' thread... hope I'm not jinxing that effort by mentioning it, lol. But I'll get it done sooner or later... and I have the entire holiday season in which to do it! So no worries... otherwise, I'm hanging out with the cats & kittens and sharing quality time! They are so goldurned funny at times, they really liven up this home! They're also a PITA at times, and they've DESTROYED the Chinese Walmart curtains, but meh, those cheap curtains can be replaced later, once they're shredded like so much taco meat, lol. CHEERS!!!

I had to reread this - I was thinking "What kind of pills?" Second time through I caught on. I think Oreo pills might be something worth looking into though - yum!

Today I've got an appt at 11 so we are driving into town. Then will have a date lunch with my hubby followed by a trip to Ace hardware. Haha
We've got the solar panels up, so going to try and get them completely fastened down.
Tomorrow Is more exciting. Orangetheory at 9 am, followed by laundry, filling the RV water tank then blowing out all the lines so they don't freeze. Back to work Thursday for 6 days, working over Christmas this year.

Had trouble getting comfortable last night because of my shoulder. Before I went to bed I accidentally bumped into a piece of furniture with the shoulder and it is aching. Also had a bad reaction to some deodorant I used (that I've used for a long time without issues) & it caused itching & burning. Because I can't lift my left arm I got a nasty rash. Put some rash cream on (and that stuff stinks).
Wore pajamas out when taking Mom for her eye doctor appointment. She spent too much time brushing her hair and putting it into a bun so we left later than planned. Got stuck at every red light on the way, had idiots changing lanes & stopping in the road without turn signals. We were 10min late-- and I got up half an hour early to try to make sure we made it on time. Appointment went well though.

Went to Samsclub after. Lots of people out. No riding carts. Mom took so long getting out of the car that someone zipped in (almost hitting me) to take the parking spot I was trying to get. A disabled woman walked up to me and could barely speak but asked me if I could help her get some food. Asked for $2 to buy food. I don't keep cash on me so I offered to buy her food inside samsclub. She asked if she could come with me. I took her inside while Mom sat in one of the recliners in the store. They didn't have the rotisserie chicken but she settled for ribs. I offered to get her something to drink. She chose orange juice. Then she politely asked for a salad and a bag of small oranges. She wasn't asking for junk food or anything so I didn't have a problem with it. Bought the food for her & gave her the receipt. She thanked me and headed out while I went to get water, milk, and cream. Mom had already gotten someone to help her get the water in the cart. I got the milk but there was no cream.

Grabbed Wendy's sandwiches and headed to Walmart to get Mom's RX. The distributor still hasn't sent it and she's been out for over a week. Got her some cough meds and headed out. No riding carts there either.

Checked post office but had no packages.

Honda dealership called early in the morning to say the wheel bearing was bad (and that is something I repeatedly asked the local tire place to check but a jerk named Jose gave me attitude and refused). Gonna cost $810 before taxes & truck won't be ready until tomorrow. I really hope its ready before the rental places closes because I want my truck back. Rav4 turns great & brakes are super sensitive but I can't figure out what most of the controls do (there's no manual), the cruise control sucks, and the seats are uncomfortable.

On the upside, I have a friend who offered to come help me with cleaning since I'm having trouble with my back and shoulder/arm. I'm about to take a good nap now.

I transplanted persimmon trees yesterday.

Its been cold so the ground is frozen and hard to dig. So roday I worked on tossing a large stash of spent potting soil.

It was going well until...

I slipped on the snow folding my right foot under me as I came down. Toughed it out to get the sirt dumped then iced it and was done dor the day.

I will tey again tomorrow but will wear my work boots with good ankle support and new soles.

Ben

Hope your foot is ok, Ben. Pain in the butt when you get injured and have stuff to do.
Animals fed and de iced this morning, made husband breakfast, and then picked up my neighbor for in the bigger town shopping. Filled a cart at Aldi and then at Walmart. She took me out to chic fil a for being her driver today. Took her home and helped her unload. Got our stuff unloaded and put away. Went thru and de iced all the animal water again. Levi came by and we took him into the bigger town to a drive thru Christmas light display. Then on to Braums for dinner.

It should be OK if I don't rush recovery. I have had multiple ankle sprains but rather than being a left right sprain this is a front back strain.

What I think is cool this is the first time I got a video of the event. The Princess was smiling watching the video in slow motion. She denies it but I saw it. ;)

The Princess did aprove a light duty for me tomorrow planning out how to integrate three water heaters, the solar wind power generation and...

A visit to the new TSC store that opened 1.1 miles from my place!

It may end up being my go to supply store.

Ben

Uneventful day today, until I bit into a handful of nuts and ended up with a tooth 1/2 the height it was before chewing. Fortunately able to get into the dentist 1st thing tomorrow. We'll see how much pain and cash it will take to fix. On the plus side I assembled a bunch of 3D printed ornaments and it looks like I'll actually get the tree decorated before Christmas :)

@Neb it's always nice to get a good store so close. I have to go 9 miles to get to Bomgaars, which is like TSC. But I have a mom n pop hardware store directly behind my home, a brand new grocery store next door, a coffee shop a block away and the doctors office and the bar are 2 blocks away. I've got it pretty good...

Went to Dollar general and to the grocery store because we are supposed to get hammered by a blizzard on Thursday. The forecast calls for at least 6 to 8 inches of snow with huge winds lasting at least 24 hours. Typically that will mean roads will be impassable and drifts could get to 5 feet deep before its over. The school already pre-emptively canceled classes Thursday because it was the last day of the semester anyway and nobody was going to be doing much in class.

So, my kid and I stocked up on the usual stuff, like pizza, bread, milk and some snacks to eat while watching movies. Tomorrow before the storm hits I'm going to brave the crowds and try to finish up a little Christmas shopping. I don't have much left.

Work this morning! Going to hit the grocery store quickly for extra bread and milk. Finishing touches on the artic cold prep!! Extra firewood in the house, more bedding in the donkey barn, mostly everything is ready!! Have the generator on stand by just in case.........! Three of my four jobs for the next two days had me to reschedule so I don't get out in the bitter cold! The other will be rescheduled because I'm not starting a vehicle for one small job! So this evening I'll make my list for inside projects I want to get done the next two days!

Taking the neighbor girl to school this morning, then back to fix husband breakfast and get animals taken care of. Then taking little granddaughter bin shopping. Right after lunch is the amish school's Christmas program, so little granddaughter and I will go, maybe husband will, depending on how his breathing is. Then late afternoon, need to get him to a doc appt.
But ugh...3:30 this morning, I hear constant barking and can't figure it out. Our dogs were snug in their kennels in the heated milkhouse. And it's colder than cold outside. So I get up, and it is one of our dogs, Milo. Little granddaughter must not of latched the bottom latch of the kennel, just the top. He managed to push his way out, and the milkhouse door opens out, and doesn't really latch, so he pushed out of there. Then probably ran all over the farm, and all the fowl are asleep, so nothing going on. So decided to bark outside our bedroom window till I got up. I had to take him back to his kennel. He couldn't get back in himself because the top latch was still latched. This is not really that close to our house. But, I did see all the barncats sleeping on the porch when I walked back up. At least he didn't eat them.
Same as you, Pearl...I've got a list of inside projects to do starting tomorrow, and for a couple of days. Saving more wrapping to do and more cookies to do till then. Hoping to get the banana breads delivered to the farm neighbors by today tho.

This morning, I will walk first.
Then take Oreo to vet- he get a few more pills this morning so we can get him in the office (hopefully)!
Once home, I have shoes to clean up for photographs before listing for sale -6 pairs.
Water jugs to fill and freeze.
Therapy at 2 pm
Church business meeting at 6:30.
Any other outside winterizing I think of.

Thought about riding today, as it's shaping up to be a beautiful day... forecast high of 58* F, but tomorrow is still slated to be 60* F, so I guess I risk the delay. Today will be a good day to catch up on watering in the yard, do some laundry, prep for tomorrow's ride, and work on my 'Road Safety' thread. Plus the normal routine chores. I sure hope the weather doesn't turn cr@ppy tomorrow and I miss a good window of opportunity today... meh, gotta have a little faith, but sometimes that's not so easy when dealing with the weather guessers. They've been WRONG lately too, which is why I'm thinking about riding the monster thumper today, lol. ;)

Ben, OUCH. I felt that one. I've had front to back sprains before & they suck. I hope you heal quickly. Rest Ice Compression Elevation are the key. I'm sure you know that by now though.
Shoulder/arm are giving me grief this morning. I put arthritis cream on it. Neighborhood guy called & said he was bringing over a large roll of hay. Went out to pay him for it and he refused so I told him to take it as a Christmas present instead. He commented that the red cow didn't seem interested even though it was fresh hay. I told him it was because she was spoiled and wanted the sweet feed and hay with molasses. I then scratched behind her horns for her. I walked fast back to the house after he left (after petting the cow some more and watching the other one ramming the roll of hay and moving it almost 10ft-- not sure what she was doing). Cow chased me because I was moving faster than usual. Got back inside and went to get something out of the fridge. I felt claws on my scalp. Rupert was on top of the fridge & wanted on my shoulder and was grabbing my head to get my attention. I put my left arm up and let him climb down to my shoulder and carried him around. He's currently on my chest and Biscuits is on my sore arm. They are squished together so I'm able to pet both of their heads with one hand at the same time. LOL. I'm going to try to rest today before hopefully going to get my truck back this afternoon.

Got another 6" of snow last night, less than I expected. Need to get the snow blower out and clear the road, and shovel out the bee hives.
But first I got the smoke house fired up. I'm smoking a couple pounds of habanaro peppers and some cheese. Going to cook up another batch of my famous (in my mind anyway) smoked habanaro pepper hot sauce. Going to send some pepper sauce, smoked cheese, home made ketchup and jerkey to family for Christmas. I know it won't get there in time. But these are tough times, haven't been able to get to the post office for awhile.

So curious to see what your smoke house looks like! you're always smoking up something that sounds amazing.
