Ha. No, just saying he's not going. Sometimes mom is not so harassing if he goes. But he doesn't like to go. I did get him to say he'll go to my favorite cousin's for dinner tomorrow, and he doesn't like to.
He will fall asleep in the recliner immediately after eating lunch in about an hour. His head will flop down, but not in his food. Sometimes I'll bring him lunch, and he's already out, so I just leave it on the tv tray.
The fun one is he'll ask me a question, and when I answer it, he's already nodded off for the answer.
Haven't had the mid sentence one yet.
Just got word that one of my cousins (Ada) passed early this morning. She was 88. Funeral should be soon.

I have doing my normal things but my current special project is adding another water heater and planning how to tie together the two sides of my duplex so I have backup got water available if a water heater fails. The heater to the left is an electric unit while the other 2 are gas fired.

I have more details to finish but I am close to getting a price estimate together.

Hi @Neb I like the idea of having a gas and an electric water heater, sort of a worst of both worlds approach. I would be concerned about the increased risk of having one leak. Are you placing a surge tank in the line after each water heater, I would be worried about pressure building up if one of the water heaters was left on with the valves closed. In our house it takes a while for the hot water to reach the kitchen, I have thought about a tank-less unit close to the kitchen. But your post reminds me of the days when I jerry-rigged a small used electric water heater for an old trailer. It does make me think about adding a well type expansion tank to my cold water line, it could provide 20 to 120 gallons of emergency water right in the house plumbing. If you had a check valve in the delivery it could almost be automatic..... Just thinking out loud..

I only plan on running one heater at a time. The other 2 will be backup. I will cycle through them but will use #1 for the most part.

I picked up an RX and some groceries yesterday. Stopped to help my friend put together the bed I got for his daughter. One part was catching on something and I figured it out and showed him so he fixed it and got it all together. I didn't do too much since I could really only work with one arm. I helped move stuff out of the way, line stuff up, and troubleshoot. The slats are too far apart to support the mattress without something underneath. I suggested temporarily using the cardboard from the box it shipped in to go across, but plywood or lauan will probably be needed.

Got up, did shoulder exercises, had breakfast, watched Hot Bench on DVR & then went out to inflate the almost flat tire. As I was filling it, another tire popped up as low so I filled them both up. Need to take them both to tire place to have them patched. I really need new tires though.

Got what I need for partial tuneup: PCV valve, 6 ignition coils, and 6 spark plugs. Gonna see when my friend can swap them out and make sure I have all the right tools. need a torque wrench that can do 13lbs and 8.3lbs. Need a spark plug attachment-- trying to remember what size, but there are videos on Youtube where the guy says what tools, what setting on the wrench, and which direction to turn stuff while he's working on a Ridgeline.

Got a doctor's appointment scheduled for Monday.

Sonya, the mouse thing reminds me of when I first moved back here. Tenants had left the place a disaster. I was trying to sleep when all of a sudden my cat pounced on my head and was attacking my hair. Apparently a mouse climbed into my hair and she went after it. Fortunately, she caught it. She very proudly showed it to me afterward and I gave her treats. I don't have much of a problem with mice in my bedroom bc of the cats.

Made 2 pounds of macaroni into mac and cheese for church tomorrow.

Cooked a bunch of food for lunches and dinners. Teddy and I waiting for that REDACTED REDACTED raccoon to come back, I am gonna splatter that Son of an unwed mother all over the backyard if I get a clean shot.

Ordered a 410 shotgun and shells.

Tomorrow I get the big trap back out, and the waiting begins.

Where do i get a tiny pike to put the heads on to warn the other raccoons.

I SHOULD do husbands accounts, and edit the 50 or so submissions that are waiting for me under my work experience module. Do I want to do either? No. Think I'll dig out my seed box and plant some winter flower seeds.

Sonya, just run away for about a month!! I'm off today!! Doing laundry, cleaning the inside of my truck, and finishing my donkey pen! Got the gate posts in the ground yesterday and the gate hung. The "to do" is long, so I'll have plenty to keep me busy!!

Ha! I wished I could run away for a month...but where would I go and who would take care of my animals....

Well, the mouse is dead, in a trap. Once again I got woke up too early, this time by the trap going off and the poor mouse squeaking....

We did save a pigeon yesterday, husband got it out of another water bucket but it was still alive only cold. So I put it in some warm water and then blowdried it. We have some bird or rabit cages left behind from the previous owner so we put it in one next to the stove. It seems to have recovered, so it will go back to the barn as soon as it warms up above freezing

Our local butcher is about 8-9 months out. They are horrible at answering their phone because they are so busy. Hubby has been having issues with his pick up. We've already spent about $2K on it and it still keeps going into limp mode. They are 6-8 weeks out (they are seeing us now because we just got it back and it's not fixed!)

I wonder if services in major cities are now like that also, or it is just because we live in a rural area

OMG! I think I would have had a heart attack...
We can't have cats, the dogs will kill them.

I don't know how the mouse got in. We have pretty much plugged up all the holes into the house with this spray foam , like around the sink plumbing. There is definitely not a hole in the bedroom, nor is there any food.

Hope your shoulder get better. Mine is ok again now but it took a while, like a month.

I re-injured my shoulder Friday, tripped and threw my arms out to balance. I felt it tear. I think I will do therapy at home for a while, now that I know the moves to do.

Today, I will set up my vities for the month.
Walk the dogs.
Make hummus.
Watch movies with DH. I thought I would have to take him to hospital Friday as he was having big problems breathing. Seems like the nebulized antibiotics have started to kick in now. Thank God!
Our Church as cancelled services again due to covid. Most of the members are older. So I will be staying home all day, today. Yay!

Glad the nebulized antibiotics worked for your husband, Snappy. Mine didn't have any luck with them. He's on two different antibiotics in pill form normally.
Not sure what today will bring....it's starting out well because it's above freezing, so no frozen animal water or hoses. I need to bait and catch more roosters for the rooster cage for Tuesday's butchering. The hens are looking more relieved every day. Amish church for our district is next door today, so in about 45 minutes, the road will be lined with buggies. I can hear service from our turkey runs that are furthest from our house. It's fun to hear the first two songs, they start right at 9. Dinner at my favorite cousin's place tonight, so I'll make a cherry pie and also green beans to take along. Just heard that Ada's funeral will be Wednesday, and that'll go most of the day. Husband is considering if he'd be able to go to some or part of it.

Next step will be IV antibiotics. Hope to put that off for a while!

He does a high rate saline, budesinide, and albuterol, and uses that at least 4 times a day. Also a fitted "shaker" vest with the nebulizer that helps him cough stuff up. I hope your husband gets to feeling better! I'm fuming this morning because it looks like grandson was smoking drugs last night upstairs. They got home after we went to bed, of course. Then he sprays cologne to mask it, and it does not. So husband's breathing is nasty, little granddaughter woke up in the night needing to rinse with water, coughing again. I've told him to keep his garbage off our property, but he denies it. It's obvious. Geesh, we don't use anything that even smells in this house because of his lungs. No scented candles, perfume, lotion, cleaning products...all have to be unscented and as natural as possible.

Put together an electric adjustable desk for my wife. She is working on finishing her early childhood education degree and is spending a lot of time in front of her computer at home. She gets tired of setting for hours on end, so when Menards had an adjustable desk on sale last week, we ordered her one. It came in this week, so we made a trip in to town to get it yesterday night and took the boys out for dinner (they picked Culvers). Had a phone call from our neighbor that the pipes in our well pit must have frozen and burst. Luckily he was able to shut off the power to the whole place at the box. That's on the list for next weekend.

Put the desk together this morning. We have been missing from our church for a while now, we have a new worship team that just doesn't align with what we believe (Methodist church, if you know what's going on within the church). Had some family and reflection time together. Made a mess of beef and bean burritos for lunch, will freeze several of them for lunches down the line. Crawled up on the roof and took the Christmas lights down. Now I'm at the shop, having a cup of coffee and finishing my pipe before I head out to work on a couple of customer vehicles.

I'm not allergic to anything, as far as I know, but I can say this: some folks wear WAY too much perfume or cologne, lol. I'm not averse to a little dab or two of either on folks, but the whole "walking cloud" scene is definitely not my style. When it comes to household detergents and the like, I prefer the "free & clear" versions with no dyes or perfumes. I get enough chemical action in daily life, no need to boost the amount...

Quiet Sunday here, weather is windy & overcast, a good day to relax indoors and let the foot continue to heal...

I didn't realize what the Methodist church was going through, and it looks like there is a split going on, relative to all the LGBTQ stuff. It is interesting to me that churches are so torn about this. I believe the bible is pretty clear about certain things.

We got a smaller chicken run and I hadn't had time to finish prepping it for the birds. So I worked on that today and will do more tomorrow. I'm running a 3' high chicken wire fence inside the run's heavy wire enclosure. I figure that will keep snakes out and the run itself should keep coons out. I need to finish tying up the wire, then I'm gonna lay rock all around the perimeter. That'll slow down any coons digging under. Already got a tarp to cover for shade and keep the bulk of the rain on them. Wifes boss bought a small coop for one of her daughters project and is giving it to us to go pick it up. It's small, but I think it'll work for 3 or 4 birds, which is all we plan on getting right now. No time to deal with a large flock, but will provide enough eggs for us.

I'm not easily alarmed and mice/critters don't really bother me. I also don't have a problem with most reptiles. I worked with reptiles/snakes when I worked at a zoo. Got to hold some really neat ones.
It's a shame you can't have cats without dogs attacking them.

Ugh, Sorry you re-injured your shoulder. It sucks so much! I'm worried I'll re-injure my right shoulder so I'm trying to be careful. I hope you heal up quickly.

I am really allergic to perfumes. I will get an instant headache if someone walks in wearing perfume. I know that I am not alone in this. The mother of a former student would deliberately splash on a bunch of perfume when she came to see me, knowing that I just leave the room if I smell it. My principal called her on it.

I hate perfumes and a lot of the scented candles and junk. I can't set foot in Bath & Bodyworks without my eyes burning, nose running, sneezing, coughing, and generally feeling miserable. I react badly to perfumes. I still remember the time my sister's (ex) boyfriend heroically threw himself in front of perfume spray from an overzealous employee at a store who tried to spritz me without asking. He saw it coming and took the hit for me and then scolded the woman and told her I was allergic. She apologized and he had bragging rights. I did really appreciate it though.

Today I did a small load of laundry, cleaned up a bit in the kitchen, went over to friend's house to hang out and take a shower, & went to Walmart to get antacids & pepto bismol.

Litterbox I ordered for friend's cat arrived and cat has been using it. The kid loves the bed I got her & is very happy. At one point I had to watch the kids briefly while friend went to rescue his gf from her ex (he was refusing to let her leave when she went to get more of her stuff). The tv turned off so toddler started crying & I couldn't find the remote to put the music videos back on so I sang "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof to him to calm him.

Shower helped my shoulder a bit and friend even put a suction cup grab bar in so I wouldn't lose my balance as easily. It helped. I'm about to cook something for mom and then go to bed for the night.

Little granddaughter helped me catch the three big roosters, but two of them were getting attacked in the big cage after putting them in, so they're now in a cage of their own. What a pain. So twelve ready for butchering Tuesday. Had dinner at my favorite cousins, and then got a call from little Brenda's (the sick one) parents...02 low again. They are using a nebulizer, and it's coming up to 94. But that's only for use every 4 hours. The dad came and borrowed a green 02 tank just in case, for 1/2 a liter. Really wish they knew why this keeps happening. Mom will make an appt for her tomorrow. I might need to bring her, but I'm also taking my favorite cousin to Walmart after I get morning chores done. We'll see how it all goes.

Well, between being sick with a sinus infection in December and dead tired after that, I got around to doing some work in the garage today. I mounted a few hooks on the wall and put some scrap OSB plywood on the wall out of the way. I then used the same hooks and hung up the two ends for the scaffolding so they are out of the way, wrapping a bit of silver bubble wrap on the one bottom end that is about head level in a possible walk way area. Then I cleaned out a cuddy under the countertop and stuffed the air compressor under there so it is close to the big garage door but out of the way. I just finished ordering parts for the airlines I need to run so I can connect into the air from a few different parts of the garage, including on outside in the driveway area. That end will have some type of weather box over it to keep it clean and out of the snow in the winter months. I think I have enough air hose but I may have to hit the Restore store or other second hand shops to get some more air hose, but that will be a wait and see situation.
It was snowing today, wet and perfect for packing probably because the temps are slightly above freezing. Unless we get more tonight I don't expect the snow to last long on the ground as it has been about 40 the past week or two. The ground is wet and muddy but warm.
Last week I took a couple 6 gallon cans to fill up with diesel, but I forgot to take them out of my truck. Friday night on the way home I had to stop for deer in the road and one tipped over. When I parked in the garage I could smell the diesel fumes and discovered about 5 gallons spilled all over the bed of my truck, on the platform I have back there and probably everywhere else, and as it dripped out the back of the truck under the tailgate the wind sprayed it all over the bumper, tailgate, and back window of the cap. So much for stocking up on diesel for emergencies. I guess I have to take the one can down to town again and see if I can get it home and into the garage without spilling. About a $24.00 mistake on my part.

Yesterday morning was a lovely day here, the sun shining, no wind, so I carried on with outside jobs. Cut down the raspberry canes, planted year-round cauliflower seeds, blue pansies and took last year's spinach from pots and put them in a small bed half full with chard. We use the leaves for salad. Some of the potatoes we grew last year are starting to sprout, so I planted about 20 of them in a bed in the polytunnel. While cutting back the raspberry canes I found a conker from the chestnut tree, so I went hunting for more. Gathered about 30 or so, and 3 were already sprouting. Never grew them before so planted up 12 in small pots, and will keep the rest for friends. Had success with the laburnum seeds I collected, I've two trees about two foot high now. Also kept finding nasturtium seeds randomly so popped them into pots also and left at the edges of the poly where it leaks a bit in case I forget to water them. At 2pm the sky went black and we had a short snowstorm, then it froze. After dinner spent a few hours editing.
It's frosty here today, but bright. Just fed the animals so other than indoor chores will be at the desk all day.
