Class this morning, then an afternoon of writing- I seem to be playing catch up and not winning this weather - which incidentally, is really lovely here. Dry and relatively mild, for the time of year. It's my birthday today, and growing up here never bothered with a birthday party because the weather was so bad- either snow or heavy rain. In Australia, it was summer so I always had one! Really notice climate change here at this time of year. Aiming to get to a local hotel for a bar meal tonight with husband, see what the day brings. Received a lovely book on hedgerow medicine from a sister.

If she's insulin dependent, her doctor should be writing the script to read "test 3 times daily." Speak with her endocrinologist and their support staff. My dad is insulin dependent and the nurse in the office consistently e-scripts it as 2 times daily and I keep having to buy extra out-of-pocket. Even with my employee discount, they are horribly expensive.

@Spikedriver mentioned the manufacturer vouches from Novo and Lilly. Unfortunately, neither your mother or brother will be able to use them. Both require commercial insurance and your mom is on Medicare and your brother is on Medicaid. They are considered government provided or subsidized insurance and is against the terms in that little itty-bitty print. It sucks. My experience has shown that the people who need the vouchers the most are usually barred from using them.
She doesn't have an endocrinologist. Just the family doctor. But I'll have to talk to her doctor about the scrip-- but she's reluctant to use it. My mother also has Blue Cross Blue Shield, but when she turned 70 they sent her a letter telling her they were converting to supplemental only coverage (but did not reduce the cost of her premiums -- in fact, they raised the cost) and that she had to get Medicare to get full coverage. Thus far they have been bilking her bc they pay for almost nothing but get $ from the government (she was covered under dad's insurance plan from work) and still get $ from her every month.
I was using the GoodRX card but for some reason it stopped working. I used a Singlecare card and prices have been a little lower.
You know what the biggest rip off and bad for you thing is? All the medications out there for various mental problems which can be fixed by growing some weed in your yard for relatively little money and without the big pharma involved. It certainly fixed my anxiety /panic attacks, fixes depression, insomnia, ADHD , OCD and what not. Maybe not major mental stuff like schizophrenia but a lot of stuff people take a lot of pills for

There are lots of other herbal remedies for a variety of things, but the doctors want to sell you the expensive new pills they have.
Too bad that is completely illegal where I live. Big pharma lobbies too much for the legislators to make it legal here. Plus the prisons have too many inmates that the use as slave labor. And then they have the fines they charge. When they proposed releasing the non-violent offenders who were only in jail for possession, the cops proverbially crapped a brick. One of the chiefs was on tv whining about how they would lose their "best workers" from the prisons. It doesn't pay to be a good worker there bc they will plant drugs in their cells or accuse them of something to keep them in longer. Did I mention my state has the absolute worst criminal justice system in the country?
If it was legalized they could profit from the sales and make people get licenses to grow stuff (which would generate $ for them).
I installed the grab bar for my friend. He actually got to come home today.
He's getting around pretty well for a guy with 5 breaks in his pelvis.
If anyone need to put in a rock solid grab bar in a fiberglass shower stall I can highly recommend this system.
It wasn't difficult and it took me about an hour even with several trips to my truck for tools.

Nice! The gap between the studs/blocking and the surround was something I was worried about so that kit looks like it would come in handy. Wish I had fewer grab bars to install. LOL.

Had thunderstorms all day & I'm coming down with something so I napped. My brother woke me up close to 6pm to take him to the store. I think he gave me his cold. Ugh. Sore throat and sinus headache. Feeling tired.
Hopefully it will pass quickly.

I had to read that three times. And I'm not even using fungus.
We don't have scrub jays around here, blue jays, yes.
I saw a young flock of cedar waxwings, rarely see them, a couple of weeks ago, at my work area. I wonder if they were heading north or south. Migrations of birds seems kind of off the past couple of years.
One of the girls has been having a sore hip and she jokingly said maybe it was kinda out of the socket. Day three and it is doing a little better every day.
I've seen Cedar Waxwings lately, Robins and Blue Jays too! Bear doesn't like the noisey Blue Jays!!

Yesterday, I walked first.
Stopped at thrift store to donate some of my purging efforts.
Went to Aldi, but didn't spend much as all their coolers had died overnight. Hopefully fixed by now.
Stopped at Walmart next door, since Aldi was a bust.
Came home and put away.
Prayer meeting cancelled because tornado alarm kept going off.

Today, I will walk and then walk dogs.
See dentist to get paperwork going for deep cleaning teeth.
Purge office shelves.
Bible study tonight.

It's my birthday today,
Happy Happy Birthday to you!!! Have a great day!!!

Arrived at the homestead last night so I could dog sit our old boy while the wife took the younger squirt to plan for surgery. Getting his ACL fixed with giant fishing line and a few fatty tumors removed and needed to get him looked at to send off the paperwork for the referral to the place that can do the operation. Had it done on his other leg a few years ago and it works great. They said he would most likely tear the other as he has some heredity thing that causes the knees to be weak. Glad we are getting it done so that he will be running around again this summer. He saw a turkey and got too excited, ran and his leg sank into mud and there it went. Poor thing had to ride in the Gator to get back to the cabin.

While dog sitting I just had 20 ton of large gravel dropped and then topped with 20 ton of crush and run on a 200 ft section of the road that has not been right ever since the loggers made a muddy mess there. It should be good from now on.

Prepping for a board meeting next week for the rest of the day.

My cousin called me this morning they own the local quarry in town and asked me to come over wanted to show me something. I had built a 50x100 shop building for them several years ago. So being close to where we were working we drove over there. They had finally got around to building a stove for the building an one hell of a stove it is!

That is really cool!!!! I'm going to get a woodstove for this cabin once I get the new one finished so that I can heat with wood here too. Now I have to come up with a really cool idea like that and build it myself! I've been in the Oil industry most of my career so I'll have to look around our facilities for ideas..... I'm thinking an Oil Drum made out of 3/8" steel possibly. But a 500 Gallon steel Tote may work if I cut one side out and do something interesting inside of it.

Hope your birthday is awesome, Magpie!
Went bin shopping this morning, and it was nuts. The first store had all bin items for 49 cents. Got a huge garbage bag of items for $9. The next store had bin items for 99 cents, but their special was a big bag of any Christmas items for 99 cents for the whole bag. I'm set for Christmas next year, for sure. Picked up husband's rx, and then off to the Dollar Tree. I've got alot of put away to do now, after animal chores and kitchen cleanup. Husband is feeling better today, although he cancelled all his appts he had for today and tomorrow, just to make sure. Emptied the freeze dryer of hamburger and chicken, and will fill it up with hamburger later.

Unlocked a customer’s access gate for their electrician. After waiting three hours electrician called, truck overheated, rescheduled for tomorrow. While waiting I caught up on emails, napped, designed a elevated deer stand in my head, napped and watch a “how to” YouTube.

Walked down my lane for the mail. Missed my afternoon nap by watching a Netflix movie.

Being self employed is really a bummer.

@Magpie happy bday! A quiet restful day here, needed it. Energy to cook a meal was in short supply today, sandwiches only... So I worked on more music files for my picking folders.

This afternoon I ordered 2 saddles for my guitar. I’m not happy with the current one. I get a tiny bit of string buzz, little strings 6-8th frets. Mr. Starkey sanded off a tiny bit too much bone from the bottom of my current saddle. He did what I asked, just sanded off a little to much. He's not to blame. Cfs is to blame, I was so exhausted from the trip (and the flu) I wasn't thinking clearly when I picked the guitar up or I'd have stayed another day and had another saddle carved. Corrected the issue while I was already there.

So, I’d rather Mr. S carve my new saddle but it’d be another $500 trip to TN. So I went the cheaper route, carve my own saddle. So I ordered 2 saddle blanks, one is fossil mammoth ivory. The other is from bovine jaw bone.

My current saddle is shaped perfectly, just a couple thousandths to much sanded from the bottom edge. All I have to do is copy it, just leave it a little taller which will raise my strings and do away with the buzz. Or B., I'll make a mess of it and have to drive to TN anyway. 🤔

Saw the dr for a follow up and the dr said I am good shape for my age but...

I need to do a fasting blood test next month because my cholesterol is " elevated".

He did talk me into trying a prescription that may diminish the taste of cigarettes and help me cut down or quit but...

After the insurance paying $350 the co-pay was still $100. Still going to give it a try.

Dodging The Princess and her Zoom calls I had schedule my work based on the potential noise factor. Plumbed discharge line for the pressure regulating input valve. No noise.

After I got the " alls clear" call I opened the service entrance (taking covers off can be noisy if I slip.) and removed the old electric dryer breaker (40 amp) and try the breaker I purchased. No noise. The new breaker fit! ( and there was great rejoicing!).

May I beg your forgiveness and propose alternatives to address the buzzing since you are trying to roll your own solution.

Would a shim under one end help with the buzzing? Is the neck properly aligned?

1
Break out calipers and document the he77 out of the geometry of what you have now. Double check it.

2
Create a template that fits the existing.

3
Use a 2-part epoxy and build up one notch. Shape it down using template and documentation. Repeat to fix buzzing.

4
If 3 fails abort. If it works repeat for other string.

If you can find the correct form you can duplicate it in other medium.

Poor little Brenda girl having issues with her 02 again tonight. Not as bad as before, but still a worry. Her dad came and borrowed a tank of oxygen just in case. The specialist can't see her till May, but I suspect her mom will be calling routinely to see if they have a cancellation. Prayers for Brenda, please.

Thanks but n/a. dealing with sound propagation through bone and wood. The last thing I'd do is introduce other materials or more objects. So this is all or nothing, a single piece of bone that takes into account the geomentry of all 6, individual strings. This is why I'd prefer having mr. starkey carve it, the expert. If it were an electric, saddles are made from all sorts of materials so it doesn't matter that much. The sound isn't generated by vibration through wood.

Busy day today.

We had dental appointments this morning for the girls and I. Roo needs braces. All her adult teeth are in so they want us to consider doing it sooner rather than later. Made a consult appointment to see how much they want to screw us for.

This afternoon we had vaccines for the dogs. All three of them! Fun!

I only had energy for a nap between appointments and then had to make dinner once everything was done for the day!

I am pooped.

Belated Happy Birthday, Magpie.

Amish Heart, I'm glad your husband is feeling better.

Ben, do you take krill oil capsules? They help lower cholesterol. My mom takes them along with statins.

I picked up whatever respiratory crud my brother brought home from work. Started out with sinus headache, sore throat, and mucus dripping straight down my throat from the sinuses. Then it moved to my left nostril being stuffy. Then to both nostrils being drippy. I keep hacking up mucus. I cooked for mom and did my shoulder exercises and then rested bc I feel like garbage. Just took some mucinex so I hope it will help clear this crud up.

Thank you everyone for the lovely wishes xx
It turned into a busy day; I had a few extra trips to do, and forgot about my son's eye appointment, BUT! while heading there we took a shortcut through a supermarket and whoohoo- they had a fridge of really good quality mince on sale. €2 a pack, which is a pound in weight. Normally 4.50. I gathered an armful - funny, I didn't want to take it all- isn't that silly? But I thought someone else might need some more than me. Having got home I notice there is three days still on it, which is strange. Anyhow, I'm going to make a load of burgers and meatloaves with it. So much for emptying the freezer! Last night my husband and I went for a lovely bar meal in town at a hotel. Spent my time people watching- I knew the waitress- so many people are weekly eaters, she said- nice to have the money! I had fish, he had a sweet chilli chicken with caramelized apple, then we split a hot chocolate brownie dessert and I had a glass of Bailey's- I drink maybe once a year- no reason other than I just don't bother- and we came home and the kids had cake and presents for me. Lovely jumper and notebook and perfume. A lovely day - best part was my hubby gave me a 21st birthday card. Now that's how you treat a girl :clapping:

More plumbing today. Ran a line to connect the cold water from side 2 to the central manifold. I had a bear of time crimping the last fitting since it was above my head and was an awkward access. Had to resort to using a ratchet strap to close the crimp.

I am two cuts and three push to dit connections away from completing the side 2 cold water. I atop at this point because a mistake could get complicated very fast.

Not exciting but that is my life.

It IS exciting because you are doing it yourself!!

Thanks for the kind words, Patch. I understood what you meant.
I moved Husband's clothes to the spare room, simply put them away in the closet, can't bring myself to get rid of anything yet. Picked up all the piles of stuff and put my clothes in the dresser. This was the first time I've done any cleaning or organizing of our bedroom since he passed; it's less like a cave now so I guess that's good.
We had 42 degrees and sunshine the other day. I couldn't sit at my desk any longer so tucked my work phone in my pocket and went out to the shop. Unplugged Bike from the battery tender, rolled him over by the door, and started checking tire pressures and all that thinking I'd sneak in a ride. Then the work phone rang, and it wasn't something simple, so back in to the desk I went. We've had rain and wind ever since, so Bike is still sitting there waiting for me.
Coons are out again, heard noises and opened the curtain to find a hairy coon butt right in my window, doggone thing was hanging from teh bird feeder and greedily scooping out the sunflower seeds. By the time I opened the window and grabbed the gun he was gone. So with that and the frost laws going on this week, I guess Spring is coming. Meh. I find the gray, brown, soggy, muddy, cheerless mess so much harder to deal with than a brisk and bright snowy day. Installed a baffle on the birdfeeder pole yesterday, hoping that keeps the nasty critters at bay.
Daughter got her 30-day eval at her new job and it was all very good. I'm so proud of her!

That's great to hear, @Heartbroken ! Just a step at a time, or none at all. It sounds like you got it managed just right. You'll sneak a ride in soon. Do you ride in the rain? Yay on your daughter!
Squirrels here like to raid the bird seed. The birds and the squirrels are being picky and only eating the black sunflower seeds.
Worked today too.

Visited with mom today, and looked thru some of her photo albums with her. She doesn't remember who most of the people are. She had me take home three of the albums. She was in a decent mood, which was good. Went out to lunch with husband. The twins came in from school, grandson higher than a kite. Granddaughter went up and changed, then left. I saw her leaving down the walkway, and couldn't believe what she was wearing....looked like bikini bottoms with a long sleeved sweater, high top converse sneakers. They were going out to eat and then to the homecoming dance. I couldn't really believe any of it.
Neighbor came over with the kids, and Brenda looked better. They brought a dz lemon crinkle cookies, so good. I'm going over to her mom's place tomorrow morning to butcher pigs.

been busy , lambs started to arrive a week early. This one had 2 ( one is sitting on the other side). Nice healthy girls from the looks of it She is taking care of them too. This one is a good mom.

Good question hard answer.

Plant growth involves building molecular structures. The building involves fitting energetic assemblies each of which has a characteristic energy value. Different light colors have different energies. The photons of the right type encourage building the plant structure.

Ben
I have some of those lights also plus some clear ones. They both seem to work
