Took a load to Goodwill this morning, and had a phone call with my brother and his family. Heading out for lunch and some shopping and then another call with my folks later. It’s nice to be out and about after being sick. Not 100% yet but definitely in the 90s somewhere.

I visited with mom's assisted living nurse, where she was living, then loaded up a bunch of stuff to take to the medical room building for her. Hung up her big paintings, three of them. Hung up her favorite photo of my grandparents. Brought in her big long side table and her potted fake flowers that she likes to look at and water. Brought in her bedside night table. That's all I had room for. And a hand sewn quilt for her bed. She is convinced that she bought the whole unit of Mennonite Manor, and that she's renting out rooms to people. I had to wheel her around so she could show me the different rooms where she's set out furniture, and all the books in the library that she stocked. I'm glad the nurses there just go with the flow.

Rain off and on until around 2. Worked in the basement cleaning and rearranging some stuff. Got the top to our potting table cleaned off, bunch of stuff trashed, and consolidated a good amount of my older seed, small fertilizers. Also got my heat mat and goodies put out to get ready to start tomatos, peppers, and some other stuff.
Need to get a couple bags of starter mix. Also need to get 3 more 4' sheets of roofing to complete 2 more raised beds. Never ending it seems

Woke up at 3 this morning with an ill tummy and have spent much of the day in the necessary room. So I didn't get any chores done. Felt chilled and got a nice fire going so just a lot of sitting around, watching tv and stoking the fire. All my tv watching is actually cool stuff off the internet so today I've learned about quantum entanglements, refurbishing a 1980s Hurst Olds T Type (which was my first automotive love but never something I could afford), and the crazy conditions of motorcycling the Dalton Highway.
Hopefully tomorrow I can dig out my stuff and get a few seeds started.

A good storm is happening. An old friend that lives in Portland (I know, he's nuts) just texted husband and heard we were going to get 110 mph winds. I don't see that anywhere, but it is raining hard and windy. I think he watches MSM.
We are on the bottom of your storms, and having crazy winds! West Tx had 75mph gusts earlier, not in T-storms! Not nice! Be safe!

We will. All the animals are good. Turkeys are probably the least protected, but they'll be all right. The goose coop is probably the worst building on the property, but they'll survive. I don't worry about the power outs. The propane is topped off and the generator will kick on, so husband can sleep. Our internet is out right now, but husband has a hotspot on his phone. It really doesn't sound all that windy. Right now is just 15 mph. I think our friend is smoking something. He does that sometimes.

Looked at the radar, worst is past you! Oklahoma is getting slammed, and Patch and I will get it in a couple of hours! It is supposed to fall apart as it enters our area. But the wind is crazy right now!

Saturday I spent a couple hours in the garage trying to clear out clutter to make room for the work I have to do on my truck in a week or two. I got about 4 hours of sleep last night, woke up about 1am and finally at 4am got out of bed. Four more hours in the garage dark and early, made me a good breakfast, then another hour of work before feeling tired again. I got about 4 good hours of sound sleep and went back into the garage. Watched a couple of movies while cleaning stuff up and aside from the big elliptical machine thing that needs to be sold I have the area cleaned out and ready for the truck. This week I need to clear some of the clutter off the big work bench, mostly odd tools and small boxes of screws and other stuff that needs to find their way to their homes. I also dug out about 10 water jugs, the blue 6 gallon or 10 gallon varieties, so I need to figure out where they will be stashed away so I can fill them with water That is one job long overdue.

A couple videos I watched of guys doing the work I will be doing on my truck they had a fancy lie down type of device that reaches over the engine compartment, so you don't have to stand on a step stool and bend over the engine straining the back. Fortunately I still have 4 old truck tires stacked up near where the passenger side fender will be parked so I can probably rest a couple 2x12's on the tires (side by side), wrap them with a heavy moving blanket, and just use a step stool to climb up on the platform. Another folded up moving blanket to use as a pillow to rest my chest on might make it sort of comfortable. I hope. Since a neighbor said he will help I can stay up there and he can hand me tools as needed.

Yesterday at Harbor Freight I picked up a variety of extra tools that will be helpful, and a couple of magnet mount adjustable LED battery powered lights to help me see better. The kit I ordered should arrive Tuesday so I will have a chance to read through the instructions, but it should be a fairly easy undo everything and replace with the new parts kind of job.

We got about 4 inches of new snow early this morning. It is supposed to be mid 30's and cloudy the next couple of days and another (guestimated) big snow storm will arrive Tuesday evening and Wednesday. We shall see, they keep claiming 5 to 10 inches but we only get 2 or 4 inches out of each storm.

am gonna have something to eat, catch a shower and then head to bed.

We have been checking on the sheep every 2 hours yesterday because the looked close to having lambs. Didn't check on them for a few hours in the afternoon. It was thankfully sunny and warm out. When we were ready to go put them up for the night, there were 5 new lambs.....all dried off and walking! But, one of them we weren't' sure who's lamb she was. Neither of the 2 ewes rejected it or pushed it away but neither put up a fuss when we picked her up either. After we put them in stalls the wrong mom finally sort of pushed it away when it tried to nurse, so we put her with the other one. Hope she is still alive this morning. I have a feeling this one might be a bottle baby. So now we have 30 sheep....
Usually we have way more goats than sheep but this year the sheep are doing pretty well so far.

Baked chocolate chip cookies yesterday and made a good meal : lamb shoulder roast, roast potatoes and red cabbage.
Husband and son finally finished the area that had the metal horse contraption we removed by cutting the metal stumps as low as possible and putting some concrete on top so we don't bust tires driving over it.
I planted more seeds indoors and debating if I should start planting outside or not. We have had freezing weather and snow here as late as May but this winter it has been so warm ( except for Christmas)

Well, I got about 2 hours of sleep. Woke up about 3:30 and got out of bed at 4am. Did some more work in the garage while watching a movie. I have several "empty" oil bottles of various viscosities but as dad taught me many years ago there is still oil in them their containers. I will be buying an oil can to let them all drip into so when needed I have some oil to squirt on whatever I am working on. Thinks like old gate hinges or wagon wheels or other goofy things don't need perfect oil, they just need oil so everything from the 0w20 to 15w40 and transmission fluid and gear oil all mixed into the oil can will work well for those projects.

I warmed up some leftover roast for something to eat, took the youngest girl to the bus stop, sorted out some more stuff in the garage and I will probably head to bed in a bit to see if I can get another few hours of sleep before work tonight. These 2 to 4 hour sleeps are a bit annoying but I like them better than not sleeping at all. At least it is good sleep and I am slowly feeling better.
Weather morons are predicting anywhere between a couple inches and 20 inches of snow for the next few days. So far they have been way short in their guesses so we shall see.

New dishwasher just got delivered this morning. Would’ve repaired the old one but it was going to cost the same or more than a new one. Yay.

Finally have the bread in the oven, after a week. At least that’s the beauty of the “five minutes a day” style bread where you can make the dough and just stash it. Upper oven has a small boule and lower oven has five bialys. We’ll see how they turn out.

Already walked.
Paid vehicle insurance for 6 months.
Took car to mechanic to hopefully fix horn and dashboard lights that get dimmer then brighter. Sigh.
Have sweet potato slices dehydrating in the oven, for the pups.
Next, will be clean baths and dust house.

I have been walking Peanut Butter (in profile pic) over to where dumped puppies are.
They are getting a little better, but not trusting yet. Sure hope someone can get them soon!

Is there not animal control in your area?

Baking has progressed to sampling of the bialys. I don’t know why I never have regular onions in the house when I make bialys, so these are made with red onion. Very delicious.

Haven’t tried the boule yet; the recommendation on gluten-free bread is to wait until it is completely cool before slicing, or it may be ”raw-tasting” and gummy in the middle. I’m really pleased with how good it looks and the “singing” of the crust as it came out of the oven.

Quiet day here, warm but rainy out. I stayed inside and did a little detective work. Saturday I picked with a bass player who I thought I knew from somewhere. I was pretty sure I’d picked with him before. Just couldn’t remember where, didn't get a chance to talk with him before he left.

I figured it out when I found this photo online. About 10yrs ago I went to the state bluegrass assoc/hall of fame ceremonies. Picked with several people that day, he was one of them. Think I met the mandolin picker that day but didn’t pick with him.

This past Saturday I picked with the other two in this photo along with the bass. All 3 will be at the festival I was invited to in a few weeks.

Glad you're doing that P. Bet it's a hoot just to pick 'n play!

Well I did plan for that but not so soon!

I got cold water meters tied into the central manifold which is Good. I tested flipping the supply from one side to another. Found that the pressure relief valve for the new water heater threw a fit when I ran from the second water meter. Hmmmm...

Checked the pressure and it was 140 psi. Normal is around 50 psi. Oh bother. Shut off the supply from side 2 and I am running from side 1.

Handling issues like this is exactly why I am off on this crazy planning adventure. Without the enhanced piping half of the house would be without water and become an emergency I have to fix ASAP. Now I can get to it when my schedule permits.

So that is good news bad news and good news.

Ben

I need a new dishwasher too! I am the old one...

Also baked bread today :) I made sourdough Artisan bread, which is probably the same thing you made except I added some sourdough started. Made the dough yesterday, let it sit in fridge overnight, baked today
We already ate half of one, wrapped the other one in plastic. I sell these at the market

Felt like garbage this morning so slept in more.
Took my brother to go get mail and take care of some stuff in town. He went in for me. Put gas in the truck and he went in to Walmart to get some food. Stopped by to visit our friend and I helped him a little with drywall.
Ate a salad and am about to lie down. Got a mild headache.

I hope you're feeling better tomorrow :).

Husband's doc appt, got gas in the car, and one of the trucks. Cooked two 8 lb turkey breasts, and saved some meat out for sandwiches and froze the rest. Laundry done. Dry canned some of the freeze dried foods I've done, did about 24 qt jars with 02 absorbers. Little granddaughter helped me catch roosters. There are now 8 of them in the butchering waiting cage. The hens are breathing a sigh of relief. Kept my two best in each run.
