Sleeping ducklings and chicks. 😁

Baby ducklings are so cute! But they smell really bad as they get older.
The geese laid their first egg today...it was outside of the coop and it froze and cracked. But it was humungous, so I brought it inside to show. It stayed below freezing today, with wind, so not fun outside. Got mom her sweatpants, got her paperwork finished for where she's at now. Visited with her, but she's pretty confused. I think it's because her things that she recognizes are not in the new room yet. I brought her the newspaper and her phone so she can call my sisters, and they can call her. I'm staying home tomorrow...so many things I've put on hold all week, but I'll try to get down to her old place Sunday and bring some things to her new place so it'll look familiar to her. The fried mush and liverwurst dinner was a blast. Visited with alot of people, and cousin Harry came in and sat with us. We went into the bigger town for ice cream afterwards.

Today was an interesting one after yesterday's 80+ high and the greenhouse getting up to 95+ the temperatures are swinging south again, we could get rain and snow tomorrow.

I made a freshman mistake yesterday, I tried to measure and cut after 2 -22 hour days... I cut straight just 2 feet too short :( Now I need 4 more boards to finish my project... Not happy.

This morning I got my ears lowered, the rate got increased by $5. I did work in the garden and greenhouse, Not finished but things are closer to where they should be.

The wife had a good birthday, but she was very warn from yesterday's heat.
Guess I should specify the love it was for Mrs having a good birthday. Sorry you cut your boards too short. I don’t have that many faces 😉

Its already getting warm here again. Still no callback from AC guy. Getting frustrated. It was too hot to do anything inside today. I have windows open to cool the place off but heat really takes the energy out of me. I'm also waiting on a fedex delivery that was supposed to arrive yesterday but didn't. I need to cook and do some laundry.
Got a curbside pickup order later on.

Amish, I hope your mom doesn't have anything else broken.
What! AC? We have snow on the ground.

I ate the proverbial crow today.

I never get sick, and haven't had any health issues other than the flue, maybe 16 years ago, give or take. This morning I get up, go out and fill the wood boiler, take care of the chickens, and walk the dogs. Go into the house to make breakfast and WHAM!

I am upchucking hard and my left kidney suddenly feels like a hot poker is stuck in it. I waited for two hours while turning my stomach inside out and the stabbing getting worse.

There was no way to wait this one out. Possible kidney stone. I went into town where I got pumped full of an anti-inflammatory, anti-puke saline solution and am now hoping it all lasts at least until morning. My throat and stomach can't take much more of a beating.

The good news is, they don't make you wear a mask when your heaving into the kitchen compost bucket when you walk into ER.

Not laughing at you Clem , laughing with you. Good thing you went for a higher level of care......things can get serious quick.
I have had to build a fire under some rather slow lethargic people behind the counter at the local ER, the best was when I called in a wreck to 911.....Me , I need a ambulance.....operator, are there any injuries? Me, well the vehical is upside down and on fire sooooo what do you think..

Got up this morning to 27F and Clear! NO Rain, NO SNOW, CLEAR... So I went and picked up some replacement boards. I have promised the wife I will help with cleaning today, so I may not get my project done, but I have the materials to finish now... I even got a new tape measure that I can read...

It is the weekend. I came home from work at 4am and cleaned up a bit in the garage, added a bit of foam board insulation in part of the last area that needs it, and cleaned up a small mess out there to make room for an upcoming project on my truck. Soon I will have a quick shower and head off to bed. Supposedly it will be an almost warm weekend with partly sunny skies and mid 40 temps. Final cleaning of the garage area is on tap and a trip to Harbor Freight when I take one of the girls to town. I hope all ya'all have a great day. Sweet dreams.

Errand day. Bank, Library, Grocery shopping, Haircut, couple of other stops. Why do I wait until Saturday when everybody else on the planet is doing the same thing? That is just dumb.
My DW and I seldom leave the house on a weekend, during the week is so much easier. One of the Benefits of retirement.

Spikedriver, your post reminds me of the last time I was in Vegas, traveling through with a U-Haul truck, a towed car, and two cats. I was on my way to Kingman to check properties, and the closest yard to return the U-Haul was in Vegas. So I spent one night in some fleabag motel off Tropicana Blvd., and Holy Toledo! I think I was the ONLY guest who wasn't jacked up on meth or crack, and the noise was unbelievable! The next morning, I stepped out on the sidewalk in front of the motel, and it was like the Zombie Apocalypse! Nothin' but tweekin' crackerhead zombies in every direction, and as far as the eye could see. As soon as I grabbed a shower, I loaded the cats into the Camry, turned in my key and got the heck outta there! I can remember a time when Vegas was different, but man, oh man, has it ever changed for the worse! I would NOT wanna live there, and I don't believe I'll ever go back to visit, lol...

P.S. One memory of Vegas sticks with me... on my way back toward I-15, I had to stop for a red light, and as I sat there, I looked over to see this one guy lying on a low wall, talking to himself. Suddenly, he did a John Wayne combat roll off the wall, fell to the pavement and started knocking out push-ups, lol. He may have been a tweekin' crackerhead, but at least he was concerned with physical fitness, 10-4? Man, was I ever glad to put that entire burg in the rear view mirror... 😒

Ducklings are so cute! I remember we had a duck who laid eggs but they wouldn't hatch. They all went bad and the poor thing got depressed. She didn't want to eat and just sat in one place looking sad. We went to the auction house (don't know if they still have that out there) and got some ducklings. Introduced them to her and she was ecstatic. They immediately went to her for comfort & she was loving it.

Today I fed kitties, swept the hallway, broke up cat fights, called Fedex (pointless) bc they hadn't delivered my package, called HomeDepot to ask them to light a fire under Fedex to get them to deliver (that worked), and had to drag the 50+lb package out from behind my truck, up onto the sidewalk, up the porch steps, then up more steps to the door, and into the house. I hurt my arm and my back and was wheezing by the time I got it to the door. Left a negative review complaining about where it was deposited.

I'm about to go see what Mom wants to eat.

Tuesday there was stuff coming up at work that I just couldn't deal with, so I wimped out and took the day off. Went for drive to a big city a couple hours away and explored a motorcycle dealership. Nothing near me except one or two little places that don't carry much inventory, so it was pretty cool getting to try on all the different bikes. Didn't find one to bring home. Took my mom with me because her sister lives in that area, so we stopped in and had a nice visit. The next day we got a lot of blowing snow and some ice, so we timed the trip well. And the work stuff happened just fine without me, so it's all good.
Spending all my energy on work stuff and major house clearout, so didn't bother running the snowblower. I don't think the mail carrier is really happy with me, but oh well. Decided to go to church this evening and my truck had no problem climbing through the drifts in the driveway.
This cold spell has been nice, the raccoons stayed in their holes. Shot one last week, and the very next night there was another one climbing the birdfeeders. Boy I hate those stinking hairy thieves!
Thinking about getting the flats and everything ready tomorrow to sow some seeds in the basement. I have giant stacks of stuff all over that need to go in the truck for donating or out to the shop building for storage, but hauling stuff through the yard is on hold until some of the ice and drifts melt. I've already fallen a few times lately - once down the last four steps coming down from my office for lunch - and I'm not anxious to take a header with a heavy box of stuff. I have skinned knees and knocks and bruises like I'm six again and spending time climbing trees and falling off my bicycle.

Don't get me started on Raccoons, they broke the treaty, they WILL pay the price.

I saw some nice motorcycles in that shop showroom yesterday... out of MY budget, but still quite nice, lol. :D

I once hauled a load of HDs built by Arlen Ness (?), the one who built custom bikes for rock stars & movie stars? 😒

Some of the bikes were comfortable & practical, but others were NOT, lol... and the prices were insane.

Still, I got to sit on each of 20 or so custom bikes and see how they felt, lol... some were cool, some were funky. 🤔

That's all I wanted to say, now I'm back to my cold beer and surfing the site, lol... ah, life could be worse! 😎

Got caught up on lots of chores that went by the wayside this week. Stopped in at my favorite cousins...brought her a z pack, she's suffering from a sinus infection and has been trying natural remedies all week long. So, I hope she feels better. Emptied the freeze dryer of meatloaf, filled it up with avocado chunks.

Had a blast at the fiddlers convention today. Been wanting to pick with folks since last fall. It is a load of fun! Saw several folks I haven’t seen in years. Picked with one guy who used to pick with us at the restaurant occasionally, good to see him again. Met a few new folks, great way to meet, just sit down and pick a while. They had a quite a few vendors too. I bought a cedar bowl, turned on a lathe by a local guy, only $10. The state bluegrass assoc. had a booth. Had info about up coming events.

Great music on the stage too, saw the finals of the adult mandolin and banjo contests. Wish I could have stayed a another hour. A band from muscle shoals was going to close the event. But I had over done it, of course. Bad tired tonight, still smilin’ though.

Oh, saw this guy play, Jesse Meador, off the charts good… The 2022 national banjo champion… that’s sayin’ something. Vince Gill won flatpick nationals when he was young, Alison Krauss won for fiddle in '84.

This young man looks like a kid. I watched him warm up with his guitar picker, talked to them a few minutes. He didn't win the contest today, had one little mistake in front of the judges.

dade, is it illegal for people to butcher and eat raccoons where you live? Might want to post on FB marketplace that you have some for people to take, kill, and eat.

I started tearing down the damaged boards behind my tub. I fought the wall and the wall won. :p

Have to get a better prybar.

Yesterday morning I worked in the indoor growing space, rearranged the plants in the growing stations and harvested some greens. Then I started to work outdoors and the snow came in at 13:00, so I went in and helped with cleaning a room that had become dusty enough to grow carrots in.... During the process I removed 4 power strips from the room that are no longer needed. Getting wires off the floor is a good thing. We dusted and mopped until you could see the wood floor again...

The son made scallops for dinner, I hate scallops, just the smell makes me feel sick, so I had leftover noodles and rice...

Today, it is looking like a nice day. I am hoping to finish my outdoor project after church.
