I hope you're feeling better tomorrow :).
Thanks. I think I need to rest more. I just cooked for Mom. She's sore all over from falling down last night (she tripped over a blanket the dog dragged onto the floor to make a little nest). She'll probably be sore for a few days.

I had a good nap and will be watching some Youtube videos. I like Stud Pack channel to see the progress on building stuff.

So final verdict on the bread before I tuck myself in for the night: this is the best loaf of gluten-free bread I have ever eaten. Crusty, great crumb, if I didn’t know it was gluten-free I wouldn’t have guessed.

I used it to make grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Heavenly.

Fingers crossed that it plays well with the husband’s blood sugar. Wheat doesn’t; that’s why it’s gluten-free. If it works well for him, I’m about to start baking like a crazy Italian again. (; I miss real bread — and more importantly, baking real bread. It’s just a genuine pleasure to do.

Brought in a new 25lb sack of cat food & fed kitties, unloaded some stuff from the truck, scraped old hardened floor leveling mix off my stainless steel drywall taping knife using a chisel, cleaned some of the wood debris out of the tub, and setup a curbside pickup order at Walmart for items I could not seem to find while in the store.

Picked up friend and dropped her cat at vet's. Paid for glasses at eye doctor. Went to Aldi and Walmart. Looked well stocked. Went to lunch at Golden corral. Stopped by Post office for friend and then picked up cat and brought her home.
Started second load of laundry.
That's about it for today.
Rescue captured another puppy this morning. 2 to go!

I had a really nice conversation this afternoon. I called the mandolin picker I met saturday about the festival on Pine Mtn. I knew he had something to do with it. Turns out… a) “Mickey” is the current president of the alabama bluegrass association. Guess I should pay closer attention the news letter of an organization I belong to…

b) we know all the same people going back decades (pickers). We’ve been at many of the same events. How we don’t know each other is a riddle. (or he and I are both old and just can’t remember) Plus, he’s a Vet, a Marine. We even have the same eye doctor at the VA in Birmingham… lol. How do I not know this guy? 🤣

c) starting in April he is holding a monthly bluegrass event until fall. A one day event on the 4th Saturday. Sadly it’s about 100 miles away. I can’t handle one day music events more than 40min from home. Much further and I would arrive too exhausted to play. I’d be miserable and then have to drive back home. I asked about camping nearby. If I could drive up the day before and rest I could attend such events.

d) Micky bought the 2 room school house he attended as a child. Converted it to a community center where he holds these events. Parked next to it is his winnebago hooked up to shore power.

He said I’m welcome to stay in the winnebago anytime, just call in advance to let him know I’ll be there. Or if the weather is nice I can pitch a tent if I prefer. Not only for his event… there are 2 other monthly events nearby. Again, I’m welcome to stay anytime… Probably ride with him to those events since he attends.

I’m more than happy to pay him something or donate to the community center overhead. Much cheaper than a hotel or I wouldn’t have to worry about my gear being stolen in a campground if I left for a few hours.

Looks like I’m going to pick this summer as often as I’m able! 😁

Got a call from my son on his morning commute - he slid off the road and hit some parked cars. Fortunately he was driving good 'ol American steel (90's Bronco) so he walked away without a scratch. The Bronco didn't fare as well - the frame came right through the fender and it won't even turn over. Spare fenders are common around here and I'm crossing my fingers some cabling got knocked loose and the engine isn't in too bad of shape.

Had fun in Vegas with my boys, but I'm glad to be home. Unfortunately, my head cold is getting worse but saw the doctor and he recommended sudafed and prescribed me two rounds of amoxicillin. I'm super glad about that because one round usually fixes me right up, and now I'll have another round tucked away for emergencies.

Spent some time at mom's apartment, going thru junk. Managed to collect two bags of garbage, and two bags of miscellaneous. It's going to take some time going through it all, but doing a couple hours here and there isn't too bad. Just emptied the freeze dryer of yogurt.
That’s a lot of work!

It's going to be a pain, for sure, but if I can get to the point that things are cleaned out, then things given to the thrift store that aren't anything special, and then also more of what she'd like brought to her new room...I know I need to go through her clothes but whatever more I bring to her has to have her initials put on the tags. Then I guess I'll box the other stuff that needs to be saved and gone through by my sisters. And when that's done, I'll get help to move the boxes and furniture out of the apartment. Going from a two bedroom apartment to a one room medical room is not easy. Photos, and there are tons, will come to my house, and I have a cousin who wants to come over and help go through them.

I hope you are able to go as much as you want!!

Have a bit of a windfall coming next week so I started planning out what all I can get done around the homestead with the funds. Last night I sketched out a 2 story building that will be my woodworking, welding, violin and bow repair, bamboo flyrod and fly fishing lures (flies) shop. Downstairs will be big equipment (table saw, router table, planer and joiner) for the big cuts and work. Will have the welder and a table setup for welding and metal work. Upstairs will stay "cleaner" and be the assembly and finishing room for furniture, fine carving work, and the flyrod and violin shop. Called 2 building materials options and both quotes were a great surprise being about $8K less than my guestimate. Tonight I'll be sketching the "treehouse" that will be used as a glamping site for some added income since I think that $8K savings will be enough to build the treehouse and it's deck. Retirement is getting much closer if I can get these things knocked out!

More cleaning today, then a fast doctor’s appointment for me ‘n the husband, lunch out as a reward (I’m so tired of doctor’s appointments), afternoon will probably be sewing. Game night tonight, assuming we don’t get Actual Snow.

Edited to add: oh right, need to tend the aerogarden and check out my seedlings. Man, it is so hard not planting more right now …

Yesterday was my oldest kid's 22nd bday. Unreal, it is going by so fast. We went out to breakfast with him and his girlfriend. She is in nursing school and their clinicals were cancelled yesterday because of all the snow. Apparently there was a semi blocking the highway for most of the early morning. We woke up to about 4 inches of new snow yesterday. I'm ready for some sunshine and to get out of this RV so I can start planting. Couldn't make my workout as most of the day was spent plowing out.

Today, I am working on credentialing for another hospital to help out (they are starting an ICU program there). Trying to figure out how I will squeeze those shifts in. Booked a flight for my daughter to come home for spring break. She is going to spend her spring break shadowing a PA I work with in the cardiothoracic surgery department to figure out if that's something she wants to do. I'll workout in the afternoon and then come home and grill up some steaks for dinner. Tomorrow I'm back to work.

Gotta make a few phone calls here in a bit... starting with my Internet provider, that outfit is trying to bill me more this month for some unknown reason (probably greed), so it's time for a "Come to Jesus" convo with those jackholes, lol. I've also decided to ORDER my new heavy-duty BBQ cover online, same for the cannabis seeds and the yeast for my next batch of apple cider... I still have 4 gallons of sweet cider awaiting fermentation, aye? I looked at the online dope seed catalogs, and I'll probably go with the Skywalker OG strain, and possibly one more noted for its high THC content (can't recall the name right now). I'm sure the Alaskan hands here will be happy, nay, OVERJOYED to know that there's a fairly-potent strain named 'ALASKAN THUNDER F#%'---makes me wonder who comes up with these names, lol. 😒

Met mom for her ortho appt for her broken leg. They've neglected to put on her special stockings, so one ankle is all swollen again. The CT scan didn't show anything new that the Xray showed, so they're hoping she can start to put weight on it in about a month. Then went to Aldi and filled a cart. Also Dollar Tree, but that store was a mess today. Alot of the food products were expired already. Afternoon chores and grocery put away to do still.

Reference internet providers, ask for the customer retention department. That has always helped us.

Busy
gave CDT shots to the pregnant goats today, cleaned the barn including the sheep stalls that were really dirty from them being in for a few days ( the ewes with babies) , the sheep are now all back in general population. Trimmed the rest of the 1 year old goat hoofs.
Made lunch
Helped husband take apart a really old , broken and heavy chicken tractor to take to the dump and loaded the truck with various dump stuff. We still have stuff from the previous owner laying about that never got moved to the dump. Every year we make a few trips but it never gets finished.
Going to put the animals up in a minute

yesterday we did a major shopping trip to Sams club and 3 other places about hour and a half away so we were busy all day

Have to catch up reading posts later

Fed kitties, called AC guy who installed my system but got answering machine so I left a message (never got called back), called another place but got "voicemail is full" message, took the truck to the tire shop to get some tires fixed and investigate awful sounds coming from it. 2nd AC place called back & Mom answered and called to tell me they were coming out tomorrow morning.

Had to get a new tire. Other tire got fixed. Noises were bc dealership screwed up the wheelbearing installation and damaged it AND damaged my CV axle. So I have to get both replaced.

Went to the hardware store to price some lumber. Will get it tomorrow.

Went to Walmart for groceries, wood screws, & mom's RX.

Picked up my baker's rack from friend's ex & got everything unloaded at home.

Cooked for Mom and have been getting truck part advice from my friend who works on vehicles. He called it on the CV axle.

After work I did some scavenging in our big junk/trash pile for some tin to use on the chicken coop that I'm building. Found some pretty decent pieces but it was hot and dirty work getting them out. Taking an adult beverage break on the porch before I head in to make supper and take a shower. We've already been in the 80s-90s most days for a few weeks 😅

You're welcome to come get anything from our trash pile if you like :)

Tried to do a few outside chores today, warm and sunny so the snow is all collapsing and heavy. Hard to walk, sink into the drift but then when pulling my foot out it catches on the ice crust. Going out to the burn barrel with the trash I must have looked like a drunken sailor with a floppy duffelbag.
Too many drifts to carry totes to the shop building or stow the donate boxes in the truck but I keep clearing things out of the upstairs. My dining and living rooms look like a poorly managed storage unit.
