I think the worst bed I ever slept on was in Kearney, Nebraska. It was late and there were no other options available. It was mostly occupied by truck drivers.
The bed at the Super 8 wasn't very good, but I got a decent night's sleep on it. I've stayed at several different hotels in Kearney over the years, and if anyone ever has to stay there, I recommend the Ramada. The rooms are fantastic, and there is a Tiki bar standing on stilts near the pool. I got tore up from the floor up at that bar one night. Work was no fun the next day...

Today, my family and I visited the local meat market owned by a farmer in our area. We picked up some sirloin steaks and ground beef, which we always do because we love the freshness and authenticity of the meat. We don't settle for synthetic beef. Supporting local businesses and enjoying quality meat is always a win-win!
thanks! We are one of those farms :) ( we sell goat , lamb and chicken at the farmers market and occasionally people come to our farm to buy stuff)

It was only 55 degrees in the house this morning and not supposed to warm up much , same tomorrow. .I think I need to burn a small fire in the wood stove tomorrow to bake my bread. Wow, very cold for almost summer. Plus there is the haze from teh smoke from Canada I suppose. It's not bad enough for us to notice any breathing problems but you can see it.

Update on truck: they are now looking for some fittings to replace the fuel line which was leaking also. The tank thankfully is plastic and is ok
He said he will call me back when that is fixed and give me a total cost and see if I want to keep going...that doesn't sound good....

Have to make some of the dough today to let it sit in teh fridge overnight ( sourdough) , cook 2 meals so I don't have to cook tomorrow, take care of the animals and clean the kitchen.

We're getting the smoke and haze pretty heavily here in northern NJ. Yesterday at lunch (I come home on my break to take care of the dog), my apartment was dark like it was night and all the curtains/blinds were open. Everyone is complaining about the smoke smell. It's making me crave chocolate and marshmallows. Breathing is tough in it though and asthmatics are really suffering.

We've also had the cool temps. The windows are all closed and I've still got blankets on the bed. It's been about 65* inside during the hottest part of the day.

Will walk first.
Walk dogs.
Shovel out rain gutter across the street from storm a day ago. City doesn't get to it and I don't want overflow in my yard.
Find some hot sauce and jelly to take with when I get haircut at 1.
Bible study this evening.

The grits turned out wonderful after pressure canning for 30 minutes! One out of 6 didn't seal, so I had to try it.

Yesterday I had a good 90 minute massage then headed to town to buy the wood chipper and a few things at Costco. I think we got out of there for less than $100. Came home, assembled the chipper, and baked the ham I bought a few days ago, then diced up some ham and my GF made me a yummy omelet. After eating I fell asleep in the recliner, with the empty plate on my lap. I woke up at 1am and went to bed only to lie there for 4 hours not sleeping. It may take a couple days to adjust to a normal day job routine. Realized I needed to do laundry so I had clothes to wear to work this morning. Soon I will take a shower, cook up some ham and eggs, then head to work. If the 4 wheeler starts I will ride that to work, if not I will walk.

I wonder if that "best by" date is 1942, or 2042? I'm hoping the latter! I guess we didn't learn our lesson from the Y2K fiasco.
I don't think there were any buckets like that, or products like that in 1942. I think it is safe to say that the lifetime of the products in those buckets are said to be good until 2042. But how good will they be by then?
I have never purchased anything like this, but I cannot fault anyone who has. Food stored is potential future meals. Better than eating mud cakes like hungry people do in Haiti!

I stay at motels and hotels so infrequently that it is usually a late night stop, and an early departure. If for any reason I am in Nebraska again, and needing to spend the night in Kearney again, I will remember the Ramada.

I signed up for a wellness center membership yesterday and doing the follow ups today. I cant' use it until they get the paper back from the Doc. I called the Doc's office and lit a fire under them to get it returned.

I'm ready to get some strength training going!

We want video, 50 pushups, 50 squats, 25 pullups! 😁

Got errands done this morning then went by the cemetery. I could only stay for a few minutes, it was awful but at least the bandaid is ripped off with the first visit. I left a couple beers by his marker and told him that next time I would stay longer but today it was too hard. Had a short visit with his parents when I picked up the puppy. His mom sent me a ring with an engraved message a few days ago and she gave me a graduation gift today as well. I knew she was getting me a ring because she had asked which I would want but I had no idea that she was going to engrave it. It's beautiful and made me cry.

Home now, need to do evening chores and get everyone fed. Got some new tv show dvds from the library so I may start one of those in a bath later. Doing the waterpark with sister and her kids again tomorrow. Should be a good time if exhausting. Debating an adult beverage tonight.

Today was my first day at my new assignment. Actually it was my first day back at an old assignment, as I spent most of last year on this gang, building and installing switches. There are a few different faces, but quite a few of the crew from last year are still there. It was a relatively easy day today. We built a 200 foot piece of track from scratch with 5 guys. I imagine tomorrow will be harder but I'm pleased to be back here. It's a much better job than what I had before, even if it's harder work...

First day of the new career. I removed, cleaned, and replaced 2 carburetors. Removed 2 old tires and installed 2 new tires. Took apart a left front axle on a side by side and reinstalled everything after the boss repaired the drive shaft. Helped wore a winch on a utility vehicle. Removed and replaced the rear half shaft axles on the previously mentioned aide by side, noticed the brake pads were bad and replaced them. Cleaned the mess we made i the shop, helped deliver a repaired vehicle to the customers home. Not a bad day at all. Looking forward to tomorrow.

The last time I went swimming I wore a full on skinsuit/dive suit. I don't like to have my skin exposed to the sun. If I wear a bathing suit its a 2 piece underneath the skinsuit.

I've never liked being in hotels or motels. There's a local hotel we stayed at when we had no power after a hurricane. They advertised free wifi etc. It was a lie though. They had no idea how to make wifi work. Beds were hard as rock. There was some sort of drywall debris and stuff in the tub-- massive chunks of it so we had to ask them to send someone to vacuum it out so we could shower.

INresponse, sounds like a busy day!

I racked out last night and woke up thinking it was morning but it was almost 4pm. Body was sore and slow. Got some more trim pieces cut, drilled the hole for the showerhead, discovered one of the top trim pieces needs to be removed and put back on again properly. My friend was feeling sick when he put it up and he got it on crooked. I didn't see it until I stood on top of the tub rim to line something up. I wish I'd looked sooner because I could have pushed it down before the adhesive cured. Now I will have to use a prybar and hope it doesn't ruin the wall.

I need to figure out a solution for dinner. I'm tempted to go to the store to get more groceries. My brother has been eating stuff without asking again.

I actually worked today!

Cleaned the fuzz from the A/C inside coils in preparation for the 'summer from hell' that I know is coming.
There was some water on the plastic mat we put under it.
I used a funnel and a pint of water in a measuring-cup to pour in the drainpipe.
Sure enough, the water didn't go down.
So I connected 2 garden hoses and broke out the 'shotgun' wand...
Was able to flush it perfectly clean with about 10 gallons of water.:)

Mom in the hospital again, slight heart attack. She's not going to last much longer. So got the animal chores done, daughter had come in very late last night. Went to the hospital, and she'll be on a heparin drip there till tomorrow, then released, not much to do about it. Friends from New Mexico came in, brought lunch, and I saw them for a bit when I came home. We met up at the amish restaurant for dinner this evening. Daughter told us she was meeting the twins for a birthday breakfast tomorrow morning, and of course asked little granddaughter to go, too. I had to be the bad guy and say no. We'll be having a big barbeque tomorrow evening, and she'll then be leaving for Iowa.

WOW, you have your hands full!!♥️

Yep. Thought it was going to be an easy week. You can ask me again in a couple of days. Ha. The barbeque with the neighbors and some cousins will be a good distraction. I really don't want to get in to it with our daughter about the twins at all. I'm just smiling and saying all is well and I'll leave it at that.

Some things are not worth saying! 😊

I remember staying in a really nice Ramada with an indoor water park somewhere in the middle of Nebraska. The kids were young then and we had so much fun we spent hours there. It was somewhere near a huge Pioneer Museum might have been Kearney . I liked Nebraska to visit, wouldn't want to live there.

So....I just started a fire in the wood kitchen stove in JUNE. I do believe climate change is real, but it is not warming. I think the earth axis is off and the weather is different in different places .

Baking bread today and harvesting vegetables to sell. We have Swiss chard, collards, beets, lettuce, cabbage, and white cherries. That's a weird one also. We didn't get any cherries on this tree for 5 years until last year. This year we have them also. Didn't do anything different

Sometimes, one has to be the bad guy to protect the little ones! Have fun at your BBQ this evening!

Will walk first.
I get to help a friend who owns a little restaurant for a couple of hours today. Should be fun! Only open a few hours on Fridays. I think it's more of a hobby, but he loves to cook.
This afternoon, I intend to pick jalapenos from my garden and blackberries from across the street.
Nothing else on my list, but I don't like sitting around much. We will see.
