Helped the youngest move his family to a different State.

Tuesday flew 800 miles. Youngest picked me up at the airport.

Wednesday morning we pickup two U-haul trucks and a car trailer. DIL and Gkids left for her folks. Afternoon the crew he hired loaded the U-hauls.

Thursday morning load his second car on the trailer and start driving the 1,200 miles to their new home. Stop for the night at my house.
Friday with my wife along drive the final 400 miles. Unload the sofa so the wife has a place to sleep, son and I get the air mattresses.

Saturday. Volunteer crew unload the trucks. Wife cleans. We get the beds assembled. DIL and Gkids arrive.

Sunday. Day of rest. Unbox a few things, grocery for food.

Monday. Hooked up the dryer. Informed the pre-purchased clothes washer delivery was now three weeks out. Used the small U-haul truck to go pickup the clothes washer. Hooked up the clothes washer then returned the trucks to the local rental. Replace the kitchen sink plumbing and faucet, leaking bad. Women folks cleaned and started putting the small stuff away. Son and I did the heavy lifting.

Tuesday. Install powered ceiling vent in the bathroom. Installer arrived on time to install Internet.

Wednesday wife and I spent the day driving a rental car back to home.

Rough week. Started a dry hacking cough Sunday after working out in thevpollen and Canadian. Smoke of Saturday. That kept on till Thursday morning when I woke up to a sore throat(drainage). Friday was worse. Decided to go to the clinic at work and get checked out. Tested for strep and covid both negative. Just something viral going around. Did get some good cough meds prescribed. The syrup has a sleep additive with it. Slept better last night than I have all week. Hope this crap goes away quickly.
Work was fun too. We got a directive Monday from DOE that due to a subctractor at Sandia lab not using PPE and not following procedures, and not using lock out tag out during electrical work, we now have to have both a supervisor and an Environmental Safety, and Health person on site for the duration of any high risk job. We don't have anywhere near enough folks to cover that. Nor did we get direction on what high risk entails. Everybody is scratching their butts trying to figure it out.
I wish I could go ahead and retire Monday

I messed around with the trim in my bathroom some more trying to figure out what to use to fill gaps. I think I've made a decision on the horizontal pieces. I also put in another PVC chunk to fill in a gap and used construction adhesive to secure a piece of tear-away strip to cover the remainder of the gap. I flipped my tension rod around (it doesn't actually hold tight anymore and is missing the locking ring) so the slimmer side is on the side that sits higher. Trying to determine what to do about the gap on the upper left board in the back corner. It's too large for caulk.

Trying to motivate myself to get up and have something to eat and see if I can figure out how to use my brad nailer.

Town run to resupply, gonna make chicken burrito mix tonight... I picked up some Sea Foam and another brand of fuel system cleaner to see whether those products will help clear the obstruction in the system. I'm not expecting any great results, but it's worth a shot just in case either product dissolves the crud or deposits which lie somewhere in the system (probably in the carb jets). Worst-case scenario, I tear the carb apart, but that's also a last-case scenario, lol. No way I'm paying $300 for some clown to do it, I'm not a big fan of carburetor work but I've done it before with success, and frankly, I can't spare the $300 right now anyway. Unless the additives work, I won't be riding for awhile... just the way it goes. 😒

I owe some of you an apology for going off last night... I don't like leftist fools telling others how to act, or even implying how others should act. I drank too much tequila on top of that busthead cider, and that set me off. It's too bad that some clowns can't figure out that globalist banksters are the BIGGEST PROBLEM in this modern world, and yes, many of those same banksters are Jewish... if you can't handle the truth, then don't read my posts, that's all I can tell ya. All that talk about how REAL Jews wouldn't act that way? PFFFFFFFT. These banksters ARE REAL JEWS... makes me wonder why the rest of 'em don't police their own kind, probably has something to do with their f/u religion. I'm tired of being called "anti-Semitic" when I'm merely pointing out the truth. In a perfect world, they'd ALL be lined up and shot. 😠

Cue the Forrest Gump line: "AND THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT..." 🤔

Went to the market and sold everything:)
So good day today.

But , truck not fixed yet....I told someone we know at the market and he told a horror story of buying a used truck where they had wrapped the rusted frame in aluminum foil and then spraypainted it...wow, that's horrible...

Have a few vehicles lined up to look at next week.

So questions: what do you all drive ?

Are you looking for another truck? 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, etc? I say you'll be good with anything but Dodge/Ram. GM tend to have electronic problems as they age and accumulate miles. Ford Ecoboost motors can blow heads and turbos. Toyota full size trucks are ridiculously expensive on the used market, and I'm not sure how much more reliable they are over GM and Ford...

The reason Toyota trucks are expensive is because they are built to last, when we bought our 2007 Tundra it had 244,000 mile on the Odometer, I did some on line research and found two Tundras of the same year that had one million miles on them, after that we did a test drive and the truck performed like new. I would have liked to have an 8' bed but 6'6" works great and the super cab is roomy, great for shopping, as to hauling things, I've hauled two loads of compost soil, both over 3,000 pounds and the truck handled it like a 3/4 ton. Yeah, the used market for Toyota trucks is crazy, I wouldn't be surprised to be able to sell our truck for over two grand more than what we paid for it. I told my son that he may soon have the truck, I'm just getting too old to mess with things the truck can haul, the only bad thing about the Tundra is that it doesn't get the best mpg, but it does take care of one of my bucket list items, a V-8 powered rig that is fast, kind of wanted a Mustang GT but believe me the Tundra has some real get up and go, plus it's useful for hauling things.

I've been coughing also and don't feel sick at all. I think it's the bad air from the smoke and air pollution
That what I thought too and may have been. But its gotten worse. Haven't felt worth ctap today. Finally went out and fed the birds Nd got a bunchbof clips on the tomato plants to train them up the cattle panel. They are growing like crazy, lots of blooms and small maters. Turned around and looked in one of the tater beds and there was 4 nice Yukon golds. I also got another dozen Beauregard sweet tater slips. Try and plant them tomorrow.
I've drove Toyota trucks since the mid 80s. All was way over 100,000 miles. Current one, 2008 Tundra, has around 150000. Other than oil changes, batteries, and the belt the drives the ac, alternator and such, and front brakes I haven't had to touch it. That is all just normal maintenence. Never done anything but routine stuff to any of them. They aren't cheap, but hold their value, are reliable

The guy who bought my old silverado came and got it this afternoon. Had to tow it, couldn't get it started. Had 317K miles on it and had a distributor problem when I parked it. It had good tires and brakes, I'd rebuilt the entire power train at 235K.

But it has electrical issues, think I modified every circuit in it but everything worked. I wish him luck with it and figuring out the changes I made to the wiring. It was a good truck for me, bought it in Buffalo ny, lived in CA then TN...

Bye old truck! Here's what it looked like new...

We’ve been on the go so much over the past month. Yesterday, I woke up and got Hubby off to work, did morning stuff, took shower then I laid on the couch and took a nap. Woke again about 8-8:30 and got busy. Today I feel so much better. Mostly cleaning and still catching up from being gone, mowed lawn, cleaned up in the summer kitchen worked in the garden. I still have a few more things to get in the dirt, but am feeling much less pressure about being so behind.
Hoping to make it to church tomorrow.

Our New Mexico friends wanted to stick around another day and hang out, so they came by this afternoon. Wasn't sure what to do with them, and they were good following around, so I finished a few garden and animal chores, drove them with me to the neighbors greenhouses and picked up my 40 lbs of beets. Then off to another neighbor's place...he left his hat and sunglasses last night, and I forgot to give them eggs. I had offered them 12 of my 3 month old chickens to get them started, so he said he'd be over. Then we went into our little town...checked the mail, went to the thrift store, and to the amish grocery. They seemed to have fun. Then back to our house for porch time, and our neighbor came by with his kids and we caught the 12 chickens. Went out to the amish restaurant again, seems to be their favorite. Bumped into my sister's aunt there, and that was such a nice surprise. She's a sweetheart, and her and her husband had driven the hour to come for a good dinner.

That's what my Hubby drives, 376,000+ miles. A baby compared to mine!

So questions: what do you all drive ?
1999 Z71 Silverado, 450,000+ miles. My little car is a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, 150,000 miles. Hubby drives a 1996 Silverado, 350,000+ miles. And his car is a 1979 four door Impala, love of his life!! And if he wasn't a good mechanic, we wouldn't be able to drive any of them!!!

The silverado I drive now has 243K on it, was my dads old truck. The same week my old truck had a distributor issue dad got really sick. 2 weeks later he and mom both ended up in the hospital. I now had a truck and 2 cars to drive and not one belonged to me. Dad didn't drive at all for a year. I finally paid dad for his truck, before crazy covid prices.

It needs some work, namely a major tune up. I loved working on my 94, don't know where to start on this truck. What the heck is a coil pack and how do that fail? I already had to replace the shocks, just put on a new set of tires. The radio died, had a bad speaker too so I replaced the whole sound system. I need to replace the console, crappy design anyway.

Yesterday's work went well, but I fell short of my targets. The porch/steps turned into a lot more work than expected, the galvanized metal brackets had rusted away, so I had to remove and replace what was left. The screws holding everything together were shot, most broke off when I tried to unscrew them. But by the middle of the day I had all the brackets replaced, any sticking up screw parts were trimmed level, and I had started to place the deck boards on the framing. By that time it was hot and I said finish it tomorrow.

On the garden side things moved slower than hoped, the stacking planters are now mostly sprouted, and I have seeds for the remaining pockets. Yesterday my rain barrels ran dry so I am now back to hand watering.

I personally like GM also I have a Yukon now, before that I had a Suburban. But the only truck that filled all the requirements when we moved here was a Dodge Ram so that's what we got. It was ok so far ( things inside are falling apart but not important) but the engine is still ok, transmission still ok and the only real problem is the rust, which is probably our fault for not taking care of it better.
What we need is a 3/4 ton, 8 ft bed, 4wd heavy duty truck. NONE available.

So I am trying to figure out how to get around that.
We could sell our livestock trailer ( it weights around 5000 lbs) and get a much smaller less heavy one, I see people with these regular little trailers that put plywood on the sides and fencing pieces and transport goats with it
We could maybe have the hay and bedding all delivered instead of picking up
put the feed in my yukon
use the Ranger only to haul things like tree parts out of the woods for firewood
use the yukon to transport the dogs to the vet in the back and clean up the puke ( the livestock dogs hate being in the vehicle)
rent a truck any time we need to haul things
If I use the yukon for all that, it will probably not last long ( it's only a 1500)

Our neighbor has one, but she doesn't farm. She just has 3 little dogs

Toyotas don't have enough engine power and the beds are too small. That's the problem

Waiting for my Amazon order of the Japanese fermenter so I can start making yogurt , salt rising bread and cheese

I am glad to have a milk goat again. We weren't sure she would work out, but she is doing great ( she is half Kiko) and I get half a gallon a day. This is just enough for us and to "give away for donations" a little at the market. Before we had 2 real milk goats and I got a gallon and a half a day which was too much. Plus the other goats picked on them all the time.
Have you ever had goat milk? I prefer it to cow . It doesn't seperate and doesn't smell like cow . I always thought raw cow milk smells like cow.

Nothing major planned for today. I need a break
Will take the dogs for a walk

I set my alarm for 5:00 AM so I can wake up and feed the animals before we head out to church. It's always a busy morning, but I don't mind. It's nice to spend time with the family and get everything sorted before we start the day. After church, we're planning to have a big family dinner. I'm really looking forward to it. We always have such a good time together. After dinner, we usually sit down and talk about our plans for the future. It's always a good conversation, and we usually end up drinking tea while we chat. I can't wait!

Slept in about 1/2 hr. this morning. Hubby said he thought I'd never wake up as he woke up early 😜 Read my morning message, pulled sheets & remade bed - that load of laundry is ready for the line. Did up dishes, picked rhubarb and have 4 double size hand pies in the oven for Hubby (shhh he doesn't know about them). Hubby is at work & I will be heading to church in a bit.
