Was going to cut down a couple of dead trees and haul them to my neighbors so he can use it to heat his shop next winter but I can't get the chainsaw to run right. Since I'm upset about this game I'm playing online anyway I said to heck with the trees and came back in the house, getting too hot out there anyway. Need to get to bed early tonight for tomorrow's squirrel opener :D.

Today we started off the morning with DH putting on the vegetable garden drip irrigation system and before he swapped it to the back vegetable gardens DH washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and I wiped them and put them away. I then went outside to water around 1/4 of the back lawn with saved grey water from the showers and washing machine. Then into town where we posted the sold lavender and thyme.

This afternoon we have made a double batch of magic mix which should last us about 6 months which makes white sauces and chocolate puddings. Then we made a quadruple batch of chocolate magic mix pudding as we are having guests tonight for dinner. We defrosted a boneless pork leg roast and I seasoned it with rosemary picked from the gardens, some oil, some thyme and some garlic also grown here and preserved in oil in the freezer and DH is making a vegetable bake made from homegrown sweet potatoes, silver beet, pumpkin and green and butter beans and topped with grated cheese and topped with homemade mustard white sauce. I then went out into the gardens and picked 2.165 kg of broccoli which we have in the fridge ready to blanch and freeze tomorrow in meal sized portions for the freezer.

Shortly I shall clean the bathroom and toilet and DH has got the pork roast going in the oven and at about 6 pm he will put the vegetable bake in the oven and make the white sauce and we will be ready for our guests.

My rant for the day: Regarding last night's dinner conversation with the twins (in 8th grade) about their 2nd day of school. Granddaughter said their "social studies" teacher is back at it. She had the same teacher in 6th grade. She used the whole hour long period to discuss President Trump and what a moron he is. She showed the video clip of Trump announcing the new Space arm of the military. The teacher has an issue because she is convinced he is only doing this (billions of dollars) to contact aliens. Husband then explained about our military present day...Marine, Air Force (presently handles space), and Army. Army used to be Air Force combined. Then air tech became too big and it's a separate entity. Now Air Force is too big and space needs a separate entity. Husband has been working in space technology all of his adult life. That teacher is an idiot. Social Studies now means anything a liberal idiot teacher wants to indoctrinate kids in.

"The FDA is recalling thyroid tablets because of potential problems with an ingredient in them. The medication is Levothyroxine and Liothyronine in doses of 15 mg, 30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg, and 120 mg."

I was with a friend today when she called her pharmacy concerning this recall and she was told Kroger's thyroid tablets are not being recalled.

A friend took me out for a ride today. Sometimes I need to get out in the country. I do not see as many fresh produce stands as there used to be. Even at farms. Of course that hot spell we had ruined some of my friends' gardens, especially their tomato plants. Last night we had a doosey of a thunder and lightning storm. I unplugged everything. I am used to doing that after all those years of living with an alternative energy system. I would hate to lose any of my electrical stuff........like my computer especially! The storm went on and on for hours.

oh my!
I believe our standards here in the USA are a lot higher for quality that's required. This keeps people healthier and alive better than in third world countries.

As for the thyroid tablets, the FDA says the Chinese maker of one of the ingredients in the drugs was found to have deficient manufacturing practices in an inspection.

@Meerkat you should be able to take it back to the shop your purchased it from for a full refund if it is a safety recall on the medication. At least here that is what they do.

I had to sit there for over an hour just to fill it, plus the 60 mile round trip so insurance didn't pay that much for it it is not expensive medication. :Thankyou:

Started off the morning with helping a friend who is having problems financially since her husband has been unable to work due to previous injuries catching up with him. I went over to show her how to list her homemade jewellery online on eBay and how to price her items so she allows for her time for making them to help bring some added income into the home. She has been a SAHM for about 17 years now and has no qualifications or work experience. We got her first listing done by her with my help and I have given her some tips on how to take photos and present her homemade jewellery and how important presentation is. I hope she has some sales to boost her confidence and most importantly bring in some extra income into the home.

Got home and rested, had some lunch and then DH washed the dishes, cleaned the benches and I wiped them dry and put them away. While I was away DH stain removed some clothing, put on a load of washing and hung it on the clothes line to dry.

Tonight we will fold up 3 loads of washing and put it away and blanch and freeze the broccoli picked yesterday afternoon and put it into meal sized portions for the freezer for meals.

@katlupe you can get surge protectors to plug into your power socket and then plug your electrical equipment into that which is supposed to stop power surges that blow your electrical equipment. Look into this and get some advice to see what is best for you if you have a close friend who is an electrician.

I do have those on the computer outlet, but I still fear it not protecting my equipment. I lost more than one inverter and a printer that was not on in my house that was on the alternative energy system. I was always scared of losing the wind turbine, yet it was the darn inverters that kept getting hit. And that one time the printer. In the same spot in that house. Here, I am in a well insulated old school and I feel very safe, but out of habit I unplug. I need to get two more surge protectors, maybe 3 more. Just have one on every outlet I think.

If you give me her link to the jewelry, I will take a look at it and share it on my FB page.

Today I have planned a busy day of working on boxes of my stuff that I want to put either in my storage area or get rid of. I have to get the stuff done here in the apartment so I can work on organizing in the storage area. I have Christmas decorations that I could not use for the last 20 years in my house. With the wood stoves and no room in that house, we never really decorated or celebrate the Christmas season. Well now, here in my own place, I will be doing that once again and look forward to it. My son moved close by and I plan on him and I having a real Christmas season this year.

A surge protector is a layer of protection. It is not 100% protection.
Cheap surge protectors will allow current to pass thought when the surge protector has failed. You think you are still protected but are not. Quality surge protectors will NOT allow current to pass.

A wall light switch is rated at 300 volts. So if the switch is off, that will stop lightning? No it will not.

Also lighting can come in your phone line, Cable/satellite coaxial cable, metal chimney flue, tree and jump from one to another.
