Hubby said looks like a bolet 😁
Well..it is some type of bolet..but maybe not a king. It stained and porcini are pure white stem with a bit of netting pattern on the stem. I've been going over I'd videos n articles for a bit.
It still might be a edible cousin but..I might go back n get another to bring to the forest service office if they have a person in there that can I'd what type it is.

i'm always very cautious with mushrooms. Only a few green plants are deadly, not so with mushrooms... Wish i knew more about them.

A nothing day. Usually up by 8, alarm set for 9 in case. I woke at 11, guess i needed sleep. Sort of wrecked my routine (needed for cfs).

So, played guitar a couple hours this afternoon while watching sports. Just me and the tv tonight...

I found some what looked like chanterels ( yellow mushrooms) in our woods and thought about selling them at the market IF I could get someone to verify it. I don't eat mushrooms ( ugly looking slimy things that smell weird to me) but I couldn't find anyone to verify. Asked the biology professor at the university ( he's a vendor at our market also) and he didn't want to commit to and answer. Called ag ext. office, they said no, looked online but anyone can post anything so I left them be.....

Regular ol' Monday!! Heading to work then a quick run by the grocery store for just a few things! Hubby and I are planning on cutting firewood this afternoon. Still have trees waiting to be cut from the storms a week and a half ago. I have heavy plastic ready to cover a few stacked sections of wood. We will have a lot to split this winter for future years. Will be watching for spiders and snakes despite temps in the mid 60's today!

So folks always say, "What's the worst it could be?" Wrong question!!!! Identify what it is you want to hear and in your head see and hear the doc. telling you that good news and feel that relief/joy etc. This does lots of good things for your system which ups your chance of hearing those good words ☺️
Be blessed.

Finally slept through the night last night for the first time in quite some time. Not sure how to feel today 😂 It's chilly and cloudy which made me want to stay home and get things done there. Had folks take what tomatoes they wanted yesterday so this morning began cutting back limbs and pulling the tomato cages. Lots to go, but I had to stop and come to work. Will be good to get it all put to bed.

Last day of vacation today. Planned to do a bunch in the garden to finish out the year. But its rained off and on all day. So I sort thru our tater and onion harvest. Pulled anything questionable or bad. Sort by size and type. Over all I've not lost as much as normal.
Gonna start organizing the basement as well. It always needs work.
Hope to make it to the garden yet.

Sitting in the camp trailer listening to intermittent rain and "the sound of freedom" according to the big sign outside the NAS.
When you stay close to a Naval Air Station that flies EA18G Growlers all day and half the night it's to be expected.
They have a hotline you can call and complain about the jet noise but I think that's really stupid. I am shocked that people don't realize jets make noise before the camp here.
Makes my wife and the dog jump occasionally.

Had our cidering today. Nice turnout, beautiful weather and lots of smiles and chatting. Fun times. Sent onions and tomatoes home with a few so now I will pull all the remaining tomatoes and pretty much have the garden put to bed with the exception of peppers.

Sounds like you guys had a great time. I'm going to get a cider press like that for next year. I love fresh pressed cider.

Tried some new frozen stuff from Walmart. The sweet corn casserole was nasty, but fortunately the dogs liked it.
The cheesy potato casserole was ok but lacked flavor.
Mom was having tummy issues and asked me to call the podiatrist to cancel her appointment. I'd just been sneezing (allergy meds hadn't kicked in yet) so I sounded pretty awful on the phone. Clerk said to call back when Mom is feeling better and said she hoped I would get well soon.

Going to rest today I think.

Got most of the pig barn shingled, then ran out of shingles. Only about 16 shingles short. Got some used ones here that I can use to finish it with.
We're going to check out and area for trapping after lunch. I've been trapping this area for years, always been successful.
Last week I went to the doctor to check on my lower back. It's so painful that it's hard to walk at times. He took a bunch of x-rays and said I have a herniated disc. He said he could operate, I said no thanks. I'll try a massage therapist and chiropractor first, or live with it.

Hate to hear about your back. I've had 2 since 1989. Had MRIs several times and last one dr said I can operate but wouldbt give you more than 50% shot at jelping. No thanks. Therapy helps when its bad. I ALWAYS ask for the e-stem thing each visit. After a few visits it helps more than anything. Icing it after a hard day for 20 to 30 minutes then a good hot shower is always nice at home

Bit the bullet and got the backing board on the wall and the transfer switch mounted.

That was one of the harder parts of the project. I will have to get the needed hardware to run a feed line from an outside junction box for the generator.

Getting somewhere one step at a time.

You seem to get a lot done one step at a time and end up achieving a lot!

Got ready to take husband to his ortho appt, but he cancelled it, stomach was upset. So, I've been picking buckets of green cherry tomatoes, washing them, and putting them on flats. I bet we have a freeze in a few weeks, and I've got about 50 buckets of them to pick, so I might as well get started. The sun is out, and the wind is down, so it's not too bad out today.

How is your mom doing AH?

A little cool outside so it was fall prep day. I cleaned my only heat source, a 5 brick wall mount space heater. I leave the pilot light or just one brick burning for 95% of winter. All my backrooms are below grade, never get below 50f but feels damp. And all the front rooms face south and get sun on clear days. On extremely cold days, <20f, I might run 3 bricks for heat. Even then I go back to one brick before bedtime.

Few years ago during a cold snap I bought a small electric heater(100sqft). I now use one in the bathroom just to take the chill/dampness out of the air. My bathroom is the furthest room from the gas heater, at the end of the hall. It needs a little heat on really cold days. They are cheap, $25 with a fan and thermostat which I leave on the lowest setting.

This year I bought one for my bedroom too, again, just to take the chill out of the air. It only takes a little heat to make a big difference in how the room feels. I have plenty of blankets, just don’t want to see my breath if I need to make a bathroom run in the middle of the night.

35yrs old and still runs fine... it'll keep 950sqft livable.
