Just back in from feeding and bedding pets, hens and pheasants. Bit slower this morning as I've a cold, and it took ages to get the car moving as the gears had frozen.

I like the mornings in this weather, once I get past the slippery concrete! Fire lit and stocked up on inside firewood. Other than son no1 and husband, everyone is working from home today so it'll be a quiet house other than the rush to the kitchen at lunchtime to get to the microwave or toaster first! Assessed my food stock cupboard and need a few bits I only use occasionally, so I've a list ready to go with all the bags for the thrift shop etc. Not planning any extra journeys this week so all will be done in one go.
Going to get some study done and clean a bit as the kids took down the decorations.
Something I heard many moons ago about parting with things to help keep you motivated and feel even better: think of the weight of what you are taking to thrift. I think you said you had 2 bags. If each bag is 20 lbs., you are loosing 40 lbs! Notice how much lighter you feel losing that weight even if from your environment 😁

I'm stuck in a hotel in Des Moines tonight. Snowmageddon '24 has gotten pretty nasty. There is a night shift working to keep the rail yard open from 7pm to 7am and then I'll go in with the rest of the guys from 7am to 7pm tomorrow. It's a lot of work to keep all the switches in a rail yard clear from snow. We're supposed to get almost a foot of snow and then the wind will kick up to sustained 30mph with 40+mph gusts tomorrow afternoon. I probably won't be able to get home tomorrow either. Oh well...I'm getting paid!😉

Peanut, do you live in an area that gets earthquakes or severe storms? Animals can be pretty sensitive to stuff like that. When I was in Guam my cats were freaking out for no apparent reason and then we got an earthquake. They felt it an hour before we did. I currently have a dog who is terrified of thunderstorms and freaks out.

Long story short was I had to go to Lowes to get a pressure tank (thinking that was the problem), some pvc cement (the rain or shine stuff that can be put on wet pipes), fittings, etc. Grabbed mail and Chinese food. Passed a kidney stone in Lowes bathroom. Got my friend out to fix the pipe that came apart and install a new pressure switch & tighten the wires. I secured the cable better and put air in the old pressure tank. It had no air apparently. 28psi and with a pipe that was secured the water works again.

Brought Chinese takeout home to mom and made her happy. Also got some food for my friend which made him very happy. He knows I try to feed him when he helps me but he wasn't expecting his favorites from the Chinese place.

Still coughing and need to use a cough drop and get some rest, but I'm happy the water is working. Oh, I rescheduled Mom's doctor appointment for Wednesday. She was not going out in the rain we had today.

It's been quiet here so far, but the weather guessers are all excited about tomorrow. Supposed to get a rain/snow mix with maybe some ice, just depends on where the front rides through as to what we actually get. And of course, I have fieldwork scheduled for tomorrow. Oh well, it is what it is.
Managed to spend a ton of money just sitting here in my chair; so far I've ordered a dozen trees and a bunch of protective tubes to keep the deer off them; a pull out spice rack for next to the stove and a pot/pan/lid pull out for the other cupboard. Still eyeing that second greenhouse but doing lots of thinking before I actually lay out the money.

Can't see outside yet, but school was cancelled last night. Looks like it'll be in the 20's today, and animal chores, cleaning the walkway to the truck, and cleaning the truck itself will be a priority today. We'll see how much ice and snow is out there soon enough when it gets light.
I'm sure neighbor boy Levi will be over around breakfast time, so there'll be extra help today.
Other than that, I'll be home today (yay) and maybe our roads will get cleared at some point. Planning on cleaning a big shower, and working in food storage, and putting more Rotel in the dehydrators.

So now I am totally irritated! This should probably go in the rant section....so I finally managed to book all my flights through Ireland and found out I can't take my medical marijuana . I will have to take xanax again for a few weeks, or get some in Germany ( medical is legal but not sure how to get any as a foreign national) . I should have booked a flight on KLM through Amsterdam. That was not on my list of things to check before booking, but is going to be a huge problem for me. I have not had a panic attack since I started using it, and flying is really high on my list of panic causing things
I wonder what is wrong with my computer, I had no problem booking the tickets on husband's

Pouring rain today , debating on if we should use the day to go shopping but even shopping is annoying in the pouring rain

Xanax is on a list of drugs that cause dementia. Watch that stuff, Sonya.
I took it for 20 years before I got my medical marijuana permit here, couldn't function otherwise
I KNOW it's bad and addictive, but I have to function
Some people have diabetes, some have colesterol, I have panic and anxiety disorder, nothing I can do about it, and believe me I have tried it ALL. The only thing that seems to work so far is the weed
There is no way I would get on a plane without some sort of drug

Already cut up carrots, sweet potatoes, chicken breasts and chicken livers for dog food. And browned the hamburger. Will wait until late this afternoon to start it. Hope we don't lose electric, if so I will wait to make dog food until tomorrow.
I am not doing my regular walk today- too windy and crappy out.
I am picking up friend and going to town to pay a bill and shop, maybe lunch. Will be out in the cold for a lot of the day. I think that it won't be too busy at most places.
Start dog food this evening.

Neighbor boy has trudged thru the snow and been over already, but we are not moving quickly and I just woke up little granddaughter. So prioritizing our stuff....getting old dog out of his kennel and up to the garage off the porch. Sweeping the covered porch, since the snow blew and covered it, even the wheelchair. Ha. Putting the cat food on top of the chest freezer so old fat dog doesn't eat it and puke again. I need to get out of my bathrobe. Alot of people in the town over went without power last night, I see on their facebook stuff. I'd hate to be in a trailer out there with no power, it's cold and no wood heat.

Power is ON!! Will walk down to check out the new lines shortly. The generator quit last night, we did finally go to Hub's shop to get it! A LOT of trees and branches down, no structure damage to house or out buildings! The wind is letting up a little! Y'all have a good day, I will check in later!!

Mom's got dementia, and I don't want it, so I look up drugs that can cause that. Bladder control drugs cause it, too, and some SSRI's, anti anxiety stuff and depression stuff. I'd rather be mad and wet my pants than have dementia.
my mother didn't take any of those things and got Parkinsons. Now there is something I DO NOT want.
This is one of the reasons I never have any sort of cancer checks and will never treat it if I do ( unless it is a simple operation) . I would rather die first before I get any of those things.
But I think I might rather have dementia than a panic attack on a plane to be honest. It is just THE worst feeling in the world. Pain is easier to tolerate . When they took me to the big city hospital in a helicopter when I cut off my foot , the anxiety and panic of being on the helicopter in a very small space was so much worse than any pain I felt at the time. Think about this too, if you have dementia, don't you kind of not even know what's going on? Plus it is something that is gradual. If I start getting Alzheimer, there is a .9mm with my name on it...just saying
I still have to live my life NOW , so I take whatever drugs that make it most tolerable if that makes sense

Watching it snow.
Sipping coffee, reading forums,knitting.
Will be making big pot of deer meat chili.
Made a delivery order for coffee and cheese balls from Wal*Mart .com.
Supposed to be here tomorrow 11:30-3:30.
Fed EX is bringing my coffee and cheese balls.
Still can't see well enough to drive.
School is out, they got out early yesterday.
I have been poking fun at Morgan this morning.
Spikedriver has been in my neck of the woods before.
My roads might be cleaned and clear in a week or so maybe.
Neighborhood kid scared the be whiskers out of me this morning.
He looked like a walking snowman.
He came to inform me personally that school will be out for the rest of the week.
Maybe next week too.
OH Boy!
That will be wonderful to know .......NOT.
He walked over to my house, he lives 3 blocks away.
I sent him back home after I thanked him for the information.
He's 8 years old.

Our road looks like a tornado hit it!! Couple of big trees took down the power poles and lines and many many smaller trees! The electric company left it barely passable, the country is coming to clean it up! Bear and I bundled up and checked it out. Got the immediate yards picked up. Hubby is getting a couch from a friend, leaving soon to pick it up. Donating a loveseat that's in the den. Will have two full size couches, nice for napping!! So I'll be moving furniture and cleaning while he's gone!!🙄🙄🙄

Little granddaughter, neighbor boy Levi, and I finally finished animal chores. The snow drift from the wind was a pain, and we did a good amount of shoveling today. Got a ton of it off the truck, too, just in case I'd have to leave for something. But not planning to, the roads are not clear at all. Mom's hospice called, and the nurse is stuck and can't get to her, but she's having another bad day. In bed and moaning. They want to give her pain pills. She had two bad days last week. Feeling sad for mom. I hate to see her drugged.

Power lines are across the road now.
But that's up the block from me.
Neighborhood kid made it home safely.
His grand father lives up the block from me.
He came and told me the little Pecker head was home safe.
He had snow up to his knees.
He said wind was fierce coming here to tell me his grand son got home safe.
Guess I'll make homemade Garlic bread today.
Biscuits, bread, chili my house will spell wonderful and yeasty.

we have a flood warning now well our county, but we are on top of the mountain, no flood here. But our water is dirty despite me unplugging half the inflow. We must be getting a huge amount of rain, haven't seen that in a long time

anyone every order anything on Temu? I just did. It is super cheap, and free shipping. Wondering if and what I am going to actually get. I only spent $14 ( knife sharpener, kitchen apron, pack of dish gloves, another headlight for working in the barn, all for that)
