we have a flood warning now well our county, but we are on top of the mountain, no flood here. But our water is dirty despite me unplugging half the inflow. We must be getting a huge amount of rain, haven't seen that in a long time

anyone every order anything on Temu? I just did. It is super cheap, and free shipping. Wondering if and what I am going to actually get. I only spent $14 ( knife sharpener, kitchen apron, pack of dish gloves, another headlight for working in the barn, all for that)
I’ve heard mixed reviews about Temu. Let us know how your items are when you get them.

More diddling in the greenhouse. One of my lettuce plants is looking sad. Soil is moist so maybe Iver watered it? Root bound?

Did the research on how early to start seeds indoors. I still have to map that info to my last frost date.

The Princess has been reminding me I should reset the organ bench I use as a desk from my favorite chair. That should make her happy.

Just got done with a 12 hour shift doing snow duty at the rail yard. The company is putting me up at a Best Western tonight because the forecast says 45mph wind all night and I might not be able to get back to work tomorrow if I go home. By tomorrow night I should be good to go to get home. Hope everybody is safe and warm this evening!

Oh, and I caught a job back on a traveling gang. Later this month I'll start on a switch tie gang in Salina, Kansas. I've never worked on a switch tie gang before so it'll be a new experience. I'm looking forward to it but the ground might be frozen in Salina so I'm a little worried they'll move us out west somewhere...

Hey Sup. Forgot to mention a couple of our favorite places to eat in the Burg if you go back there.
One is The Peddler, it on the west end of river road beside the river. Great steaks and a huge salad bar
The other is The Alamo. Head East on Hwy 73 toward Cosby. Just a few miles that way and much less traffic. Really good menu there as well. It was closed for a couple years after the fire went thru the area.
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, today... after we left.
That's what you get for letting Louisiana people in

Saw the strangest thing on my way home this evening. Not sure if it was a practice or what but on the road I usually turn on to get home, there were sooo many emergency vehicles all with lights flashing but no sirens and no sign of an accident. They were lined up on the side of the highway and clear off the exit and curled back to the old highway. I went on to the next exit not wanting to get in the middle of something and there were 4 more coming from another direction. Made my turn and got home safely but there must have been at least 1/2 mile worth of ambulances, fire trucks etc. I thought some sort of convoy or something I wasn’t privy to. We don’t have any real weather until tonight so really have no idea.

Sure hope everyone impacted by bad weather is doing alright. So far I've gotten 0.82" of rain after it switched from being snow this morning. Supposed to switch back sometime overnight I guess.
Driving was not fun today, lots of heavy slush for much of the trip. I refuse to use the work truck again until they put tires on it! Wow, that was bad. Almost lost it a couple of times, and I was going very carefully. I commented on that when I checked the truck back in but I doubt they'll care or do anything. Was so grateful to get back to the office and switch back to my truck for the drive home.

I don’t envy you folks in the snow… although we’re getting snow flurries tonight near Fort Payne and north to chattanooga. I got about 3” of rain last night, lot of wind too. Partly sunny on the drive to the big town this afternoon.

Got most items I needed only because I had cash. Left my wallet at home, lucky I always carry some $$. Had to skip a few items but can get them in the little town later this week, no problem. Except my memory.

Rain filled up my new dump cart. Cows were drinking out of it. LOL.
Slept in bc I felt like garbage. Mom was hungry at like 3am and wanted eggs and toast.
She stayed up until after sunrise. I tried to get some sleep in. Slept through my alarm and forgot to take my vitamins.
Felt cruddy but went to the store with my brother to get some groceries. Found a dime on the ground in the parking lot. My best friend was in the checkout as we were going in so I rushed over and dropped it on his shoulder. We have this running gag where I say I'm going to "drop a dime" on him and I do it every time I find a dime and he's nearby. He wasn't feeling well so he rushed out of the store.

My brother brought in the heavier stuff from the grocery store and after another nap I got up to do some laundry. Got Mom's stuff picked up and she decided to get out of bed. Put it on deep clean sanitize which uses cold water & takes about 2 hours, but it cleans well. Popped the stuff into the dryer a few minutes ago.

Mom was hungry and was surprised we still had green beans from the Chinese place because I got two orders of it. That made her happy. I found some sort of Caesar chicken wrap that she liked.

Still coughing a lot and its annoying, but I could be worse.

Hope everyone gets their power back on & is staying warm and dry.

Bladder woke me up and I was hungry. Got myself some food but Mom was still up so I had to give the rest to her even though I was still hungry. Probably better that I didn't eat it all though. Took the laundry out of the dryer & folded it. Mom said she gave me two pairs of socks but only 3 socks came out of the washing machine. Checked to make sure the 4th wasn't stuck to any clothes & it wasn't. Went in her room and found the missing sock. She'd dropped it when trying to hand it to me. So, I put it in with some more of her laundry. That will take about 2 hours and then another hour 20 or so for drying. Still can't stop coughing my bladder out though. I do like the smell of fresh laundry and put on a cardigan that I just washed. It will help me sleep better, I hope.

Woke up not feeling good this morning. I think I'm coming down with a cold or something. Supposed to get more heavy snow all day again. We only got a foot or so yesterday, hard to tell how much because the wind blew it around a lot. After it gets light out I'll start snow blowing pathways between the buildings and then plow the road with the tractor. Once I get a packed base on the road with the tractor, I'll able to use the big snow blower the rest of the winter. It's much more comfortable with the heated cab.
The wind is still blowing out, just not as bad as it was yesterday and last night.

Today, I will pressure can dog food that I made yesterday.
Will walk when it gets up to 35 degrees or so.
Walk dogs.
Maybe set up personal filing folder, maybe not.
Trying to take it a little easier today. Yesterday was very busy, but I accomplished more than I thought possible.
We ended up with 4.25" rain over the night before last. Windy and chilly when we were in town, but traffic was a breeze and not many folks out. That was what I hoped would happen!

my reply just got deleted by accident, must have hit something wrong on my keyboard grrrr

anyway: took dogs out it is miserable outside, 40 some mph wind , we have a wind and a flood warning now, and blowing snow. It did stop raining, but very cold now

Animals stay in

Need to go shopping for milk and sunflower seeds ( birds and chickens)

tamu: so far my computer still works, email I used still works too . So the worst that will happen is I won't get my $14 worth of stuff and will have to put in a fraud charge with my credit card company. They are pretty good about that, and will take it off most likely. If not, I will have learned a lesson and be out $14

Back to work today!! Just one of my regular jobs and a non-exciting day hopefully!! Today and tomorrow will be artic weather prep! Extra blankets in the outside cats' insulated cat houses, extra firewood in the house, making sure all outside faucets and pipes are super insulated, set up heated water bowl for outside cats, bring a few rubber buckets inside to take water out to Buddy (he won't leave a trough heater in the water trough 🙄)! Enjoy the sun and 65° temps!

Have to call the manor where mom lives to see if they're transporting her to her doc appt today and I'll meet her there if so. I hear the highway is pretty clear, but it's five miles to loop to that. The other road I take is iced, but maybe not so bad in a couple of hours. We'll see what today brings. No school today.

Let us know if you find out. I’m curious, now.
I was unable to drive this morning, so banished back to bed. My cold has turned into something more; homemade tomato soup hopefully will kill or cure!
Might be COVID?

Busy all day... this afternoon the fiber optic cable people came and ran cables, set up a router, for my new internet connection.

The pkg i purchased is 500Mbps, screaming fast up or down without data caps. For the first time in my life I got to see an entire music vid on Utub without it stalling, waiting for the rest to download. Usually 2 or 3 times in one song.

I even see a big difference here in the forum. It seems instantaneous instead of waiting...and waiting for pictures to load.
-------------------------

The guy came and got everything on his end set up. I wasn't ready, had to go to town for a 50ft cat6 cable. Got groceries while i was there.

Tonight i'll enjoy the real internet. I had satellite internet, better than dail-up but not by much... Since I'll be giving them the boot at the end of the month... Now i have to set up new email addy's, notify/change several business accounts, fun, fun, fun... not!

Went to mom's doc appt in the bigger town. Was not fun driving there since the roads had not really been cleared. Then back home for lunch, and husband wasn't feeling well since last night, so took him in. It turned in to a doctor day. Hope you feel better soon, Magpie. Thinking there might be school tomorrow.

I finalized my seed starting schedule. 19-Feb the onions and leaks get started. Convinced myself that I will need more grow lights. Found and ordered another set of lights. I need to order more of of the 1x1 inch inserts for the trays I have.

More work, ended up working 12 today. Found out about 1 our radio system was getting partially upgraded. We get to support that.
When I got home wife said the high winds yesterday and last night partially blew the tarps off the chicken coop. Guess ill get to work on them when I get home tomorrow night.
