Heading to work this morning, one cleaning job. Then I will fight my way through Walmart for a few extra things since we are apparently having an ice storm! This afternoon I will get out my real winter apparel. Duck down parka, Yak Trax, thermal gloves, etc.! Pretty much have everything else in line and ready. Hubby will cut the water off to his shop and drain the lines later. We will both be home until the ice/snow melts! My sled is ready !😃🛷

went swimming yesterday, 24 laps, so nothing else much got done . I ended up doing dishes when it was already dark
today we are going to try and get ready for the super cold weather we are supposed to get next week. Just in time for son to have to drive to school again. His classes start right when we are supposed to get snow and close to zero temp ( below zero with wind chill)
Going to do some laundry today and try to do something about son's water line

Is there room to stack hay bales around the pipe?
that's not a bad idea, and we could use straw bales which is even better insulation

there is an additional problem: the water has to be running or he can't use his wood stove ( no heat) because the water pipe runs through the stove. You can't have too much pressure in the tank, obviously, or it will blow up ( it has a valve on it but not sure that will be enough if there is no cold water inflow

Worst case he will just have to come to the house for a few days

I am thawing out. Frozen water, of course in all of the animal runs. So, hauling out new buckets and bringing in frozen ones to thaw and to do this again this afternoon. Still need to tarp the turkey run sides, but I'll wait till little granddaughter gets home from school to help. It'll get up to 13 degrees then, and the wind will only be 16 mph, so that's alot better than now. I got a really thick old bath mat I didnt want anymore, put in on the porch, put a heating pad on that, and then another blanket for old dog to lay on. He does not want to be in the garage. He loved it, then when he decided to get up for awhile, five cats piled on. They do share. I've seen them together. The porch is sunny now, so they are all lounging.

The dentist appointment went okay until they tried to open up her mouth with the "jaws of life" to to a full mouth scan for a new night guard. I got off lucky only lost 3 hours and $400, but I have my own appointment for next week.

I have come to the conclusion that the ringing in my ears is not hurting my hearing too much. I could hear the conversations they were having with the wife, and I was down the hall in the waiting room, with the door closed, and listening to the elevator music.... I was trying to figure out how they could get any work done in her mouth with her talking a mile a minute... I must be grumpy..... :)

The second sewing machine arrived today, it was purchased as a parts machine and it had a good manual and the accessory box was full. Initial inspection showed that the machine was very dirty and the main shaft was near frozen... I couldn't resist cleaning it a bit and then applying a little oil at all the contact locations, then I applied a little gentile persuasion and was able to get the shaft to turn over, a little more oil and poof! It felt as if it freed up a lot. So I added the peddle and hooked it up to power, it ran, sort of, but after a few seconds it started to run smoother. I would not call if fully functional yet but it is a complete machine that turns under it's own power... no longer a parts machine. :) Now I have something else to do this weekend. Ha Ha Ha....

Tuesday night and Wednesday morning I did laundry. Mom woke up after 11am and her blood sugar was 42. Gave her relion sugar chewable thingy & got her some leftover green beans. Went to her doctor's appointment but her sugar was still too low so they said they would go over in more detail later. Scheduled for appointment with diabetes expert in 3 weeks. Mail from post office, ate at Mexican restaurant. Saw best friend coming in as we were leaving. Got cow feed at TSC. Went to Walmart and I don't remember what we got.

Been exhausted past couple of days. Coughing & no energy. Took out trash yesterday.

This morning the high winds made the power fluctuate off and on. Went out for long enough for me to shut my computer down and then start to call the power company. Came back on while I was reporting the outage to the automated system.

Keep coughing still and will need more cough drops soon. Got a mild sinus headache.

Rupert is keeping me company.

The day didn't go as expected. My car battery was dead. The couple I was going to clean for is sick. Hubby was off so we went to Walmart, got a battery and some groceries. Got a bunch of stuff done in the house today. Took Bear for a walk through the woods trails, all three outside cats went with us!! They had a blast! Heading outside to wrap things up for the evening, a little bit of sitting around happening tonight.

Mine is in about 3 weeks. It's going to be bad, and I dont even want to think about it.
I've been lucky all my life. 67 years old now, and still waiting to have my first cavity. At this point, I'm starting to think I may never have one. Which is fine with me! The last (and only) time I had any dental work done, other that routine checkups and cleanings, was in my teens when I had a single wisdom tooth pulled because it was coming in sideways.

That's okay, I visited the dentist once and they didn't find a cavity, until they realize they were looking at the wrong x-rays.... My teeth are all bought and paid for, every one has it's own precious metal deposit.... :)

Yep, same here, lots of metal in my mouth. Seems all those fillings set me up for the current failings, as the pressure of that metal working into the tooth for all those years caused the cracking. At least that's what the oral surgeon said. All of my wisdom teeth had to be taken out in my teens as they were sideways but on the upside I still have some baby teeth. Yeah, my teeth are weird and an endless source of trouble.
Snowing hard and windy here now. I don't really mind, don't have anywhere to go and no animals to care for, but I sure hope the power doesn't go out. Brought in some wood and kindling so I can get a fire going. I did go out and dig around in the crazy insane messy shop and got the snowblower freed up and moved by the door, but then it was late and I was too exhausted to fuss around trying to start it. No sense in trying to clear snow until the wind dies down anyways, but I sure hope I can start it if I need it.

Outside dog... riiight! ;)

Just had an interesting phone call about medicine plants. From kin who didn't show an interest in the past. Talked an hr and neither of us like talking on the phone. 😁

Dragging today, so tired, didn't get a lot done.

Slept most of the day bc I felt exhausted. Spent a lot of time in the bathroom while awake bc of the mucus issues affecting my stomach.

When I got up I fed kitties, refilled waterers, cleaned up some trash from the hallway, went out & unloaded the new pressure tank into the storage shed, brought in the mail (which was under the pressure tank in the back seat), and cooked dinner for Mom. Bob Evans mashed potaoes mixed with butter and rotisserie chicken.

Bladder is screaming at me again right now.

Hunkered down at home because that cold weather everyone else is having just showed up here.

Spent the last few days cooking up a pile of soups and stews so that we don’t have to do much this weekend, and got the car maintained this afternoon.

No snow yet. Fingers crossed we’ll get little-to-none, haven’t seen any in the forecast, but that means nothing in Colorado! :D
