@Supervisor42 I was interested in that vehicle type at one time, had bad reviews and I never looked again. Must have been first couple of years it was produced.
I need to get— would like to get something different. I can’t afford a pick up truck and was thinking about a mini van for carrying supplies, camping, room for the dog, and travel.
I’ve been playing with and feeding little grandkids, changing diapers, giving bottles, cleaning kitchen, having deep conversations with a smart 4 yr old that thinks an awful lot; what a life.

LOL. You guys are cracking me up. And that's a good thing. I feel like garbage.
I managed to get some lobster bisque (storebought from Walmart-- just heat it in microwave) for Mom. Took longer to get the stupid plastic off than it did to heat it. That glue does not let go. Fippy was growling at me because I was standing near Mom (and his food bowl). He was devouring his food like he thought I was going to take it from him while growling and making a growl that sounded like he was saying "mine". I got bisque on my fingers and put them down in front of his face. He growled, stopped growling, licked my fingers clean, then growled again and resumed eating. I put the plastic down in front of his nose so he could lick the stuff off of too and he did the same thing. He's a weird one. A least he's good at cleaning out containers and dishes. LOL.
I forgot to call the doctor since I curled up in a ball and slept most of the day.
At least my brother was helpful today. It made me feel better that he helped and we could work as a team. I wish it worked out that way more often.

The wife has been feeling poorly the last couple of days, her strength comes for an hour or two, then she just fades and is warn out and grumpy...

It's snowing here today (the weatherman even forecast it right), the wife canceled her real-id appointment for today to avoid the ice. Last night I got things together planning on the snow arriving, cleaned off the snow from our last event, topped off the fuel tanks, dug out the snow shovels and snow blower to make tomorrow's clean up easier, I even got salt to help remove the ice near the doors. The wife was concerned about me not being able to get out today and I reminded her that that was why I went ahead and got the 4X4, so we wouldn't be stranded in the future.

I've got a dentist appointment this morning - I'll be going to that one, but first I'll be going to W-mart to get some vitamins and stuff.

I'm off today so I think I will do some projects that I have been planing.

I'm tempted to get out my snow camo and go bow hunting, yep there's the ticket, go sit in a tree in <15F weather with snow coming down waiting for an unsuspecting bambi. Then again I might watch the last episode of Reacher that just came out.

My improvised greenhouse is doing well this year, I modified the growing station out there, adding a clear shower curtain all the way around it (6" stand off from the sides and front of metal shelves and an insulated top, so now there is the enclosed/heated growing station inside an enclosed un-heated greenhouse. The temperature inside the growing station has been holding about 40F above the outsides lowest temperature and the greens are growing nicely.

The wife likes the house a little cool, <66F on the main floor, I'm sitting in the basement in my shorts, bare feet on the concrete, drinking a cold soda, and I feel a little chilled. I'm considering getting a space heater for my desk down here, or maybe I'll just put some clothes on :)....

Have a great day

Good morning! Will walk first.
Get finger printed for possible part time job.
Walk dogs.
Clean house a little.
Make phone calls for concrete fix for driveway.
Call plumbers about re-plumbing under house with pex piping.
Do some inventory in shed to bring canned goods list up to date.
Thaw shrimp and sausage to make gumbo tomorrow.

Three more nights of cold and then back to mid 30's to 50's for lows.

We've got cold here today, but it'll get better by Sunday. Doctor day today. I need to get husband into the bigger town first thing this morning for a sputum test and chest xray, then call the infectious disease doc, so she'll read it. Not sure if we come home at that point, and just go back when she calls, but he's probably getting another midline put in, and probably being put on the every six hrs med. So, I'll get to animal chores at some point today, and canning the pork, and the banana bread, since I have a working oven now.

This should be the time of year that DH gets IV antibiotics again, but not yet.
I started him on Quercetin about a month ago and he is not coughing as much as he was when he started it. 500 mg a day. It's supposed to help with lung infections. Just our experience and I know things can change.

I hope your DH gets better soon!

When I had Covid, that is how I felt. Mostly just exhausted with an on again off again fever.

curl up near the wood stove with a cup of tea with lemon, honey and cinnamon.
I think I just got too cold. I ended up putting an addictional small electric radiator space heater in the bedroom and, left it on low overnight ( I never do that usually, it's there for if daughter visits in winter) and I feel better now
But more cold and blowing snow outside
Animals will definitely stay in, don't even want to let the sheep out in this

Son wants to drive to school, it's not closed. ALl the public schools around here are closed today , but not the university, they don't close unless there is 2 feet of snow on the ground. I think he should skip but he has the stupid Spanish class today he is already worried about passing. Debating if I should book him a motel overnight but not sure the roads will be better tomorrow. Still thinking about it, a motel room is cheaper than a car repair

The snow came in heavier than expected, wet & heavy. The truck did fine in the snow, went to W-M and picked up what the wife needed. On the way home <2 miles I saw 4 wrecks. After dropping off wife's stuff I jumped back in and headed to the dentist, two blocks from the dentist office I get a call, they are closed due to weather.... I was near a HD so I stopped in and grabbed a shovel and bag of salt for the back of the truck...

The drive home with nice, listening to old Beatles music, it reminded me of back in the day driving the old 73' 3/4 ton Chevrolet 4X4 to high school in the mountains of Colorado, really refreshing.

After I got home I looked in the mirror, it's definitely a bad hair day.

This is my last Friday off. Next week I go back to my old schedule of Mon-Fri. We got a transfer from another store who is part time and in nursing school. She wants to work Sundays because that is the time she has available. The Pharmacy Manager (who I have worked with for 13 years now) is not exactly happy about it. Sundays have been getting busier to the point where I'm having trouble keeping up when working with her because she sees working with me as an opportunity to take care of things she normally can't get to. I take that as a compliment but I still want my Sundays back. I solved that schedule problem by giving her an extra technician on Sunday mornings. Perhaps in the future, we'll go back to two Sundays on, two Sundays off. We'll see.

Today I planned for a freezer clean out and organization of my older freezer. We're supposed to get more snow today and Dad has planned on making chili for lunch.

Book the room. More important than it being cheaper than a car repair is it would be better than worrying about him driving on those roads.

he still has to get there but I think it will be worse later on so maybe
I think most people drive slow in this weather so if he ran off the road it would most likely just damage the car, but you never know you are right

How long until it starts to warm up in your part of the world, according to the weather monkeys anyway
It has started warming up since Wednesday. Last night it was 33 when I got home. I'm tempted to open the valve today. It's supposed to now hover around the high 30's , low 40's for highs n low 30s nights.
The last two weeks were interesting. We went from barely any snow to almost 2 feet in a week n half with artic temps.
That was a new one for me. It gets cold here in Jan , teens n 20's mostly some singles but the below zeros at my elevation are scattered.
Up the mountain towards work it's pretty normal.
Anyways, I just figured I'd wait untill I had time to deal with it.
I did set up my on demand water heater for a quick shower on wednesday.
I know your not supposed to use them inside because of carbon monoxide issues, but it was still way to cold outside. I figured a quickie wouldn't be too dangerous.
I hooked a garden hose onto my toilet water intake valve, and had a go with the portable water heater..it worked. It was like a 5 minute frenzy and it did set off the carbon monoxide alarm outside the bathroom..but man that felt good.

I HAVE HOT WATER! YEA YEA YEA..LOL.
Ok..no leaks, spraying or running water sounds when I turned the valve back on.
Water flowed inmediately when i turned the kitchen faucet on. ..took a minute to be hot but everything works.
The livestock frost free valve is unstuck too..that was another fun adventure. Those suckers are buried 4 or 5 feet and the valve froze. But its flowing now fine.
Now I gotta figure out why the trucks defrost n air took a crap. Hopefully it's just a fuse.
I saw a tad of green drips where I parked too..coolant?
The Universe is giving me a bushel of teachable moments this week..I'm grateful for the lessons but its been alot in one week.
Time to walk the pu poo s real quick and...
Take a real shower!! Whoo hoo!!

really great that you have hot water again, it seems that when you cant have one is when you want a shower worst. Sometimes, the heater housing will ice up, on Gm trucks anyway if you run the defrost on low fan for too long, they cycle the ac to dry the defrost air, it is kind of rare, but it happens, especially when it is cold and the units sits idling to warm up on low fan, maybe,

A cord is 4'×4'×8'! So you have several racks? Do they have their own covers? I have some smaller racks on wheels, but I can't use the water proof covers because they only cover 13" wood! Tarps! My den is firewood central 😮!

Way back in the day, I remember this 71 GMC that all the sudden the heater quit on. Come to find out it was low on coolant. The truck had a slow leak, it was winter so it wasn't running too hot, but you need that hot water circulating through the heater core to run the defroster!

Got the older freezer organized and removed a bunch of stuff that is past its prime or just too much. Like soup. Dad makes a pot of soup and assumes he's feeding an army (kinda funny for a Navy man). He just keeps putting the excess in the freezer, unbeknownst to me, and making another pot a week later. Anyway, I now realize I really need to make the effort to meal plan and to keep better track of what's in there. Maybe tomorrow I'll do the other freezer. Or not. LOL

Also went through the "manual drawer". Got rid of a lot of manuals for appliances we no longer have. I was looking for the manual that came with the wood stove. Dad decided that tomorrow he wants to light a fire in it. The last person to light a fire in that stove was my mother. She passed in 1999. He set a fire up sometime in 2002/2003 then must have chickened out. He's afraid of fire--something to do with how he learned to fight fires on the Tutuila in 1954. He claims the Navy would put you all in a room with everything you need and set it ablaze. It's a Vermont Castings Intrepid II, so I'm off to locate a manual online. It's got too many levers for me to want to experiment with finding out what they're for. It looks a little too steampunk for me. LOL

Yes it is..thank you!
I didn't really catch the truck thing you mentioned..I do warm up my truck with the defrost on before I take off. It worked fine the night b4 thankfully..it was a blizzard driving off the mountain that night..the next day nothing..

Omg! I moved my truck n found this on the snow...maybe that is it..

I had a Cadillac that suddenly the heating and defroster stopped working.
It blew cold air.
Turned out it had a blown head gasket and all the water was in the oil system.
The engine was a total loss.
Final solution was to give it to the mechanic and buy a different commuter car.
If the oil looks like chocolate milk that's the problem.

basicly the ac can cause the beater box to turn into an ice cube especially if as urbanhunter mentioned it is low on coolant there wouldnt be anything to warm the heater box

@Hooch based on the coolant shown it looks like it is leaking in a centralized location... Now for the bad new, my bet is that your water pump is going out and is leaking out the seep hole in the water pump housing... I would put some coolant in it, see if the heater works, then start chasing down that coolant leak... It is always less expensive to have coolant leaking on the outside than having it leaking through the head gaskets :). Trying to put a positive spin on it...

Oh! I almost forgot. When you add the coolant add it directly to the radiator (not the overflow tank) with the engine cold, as often the overflow tank can still have fluid in it because the leak with let air in the system and there will not be a vacuum to pull coolant from the overflow tank back into the radiator...

If it is low, fill the radiator, then with the cap off start the engine, when the thermostat opens it will go down again because it is displacing the air in the heater and engine block, finish topping off the coolant, put the cap back on, and now start looking for that leak....
