Today was sitting inside and being thankful I didn't have to go out into the freezing rain to hook up the generator or run the chainsaw.

Look the same just almost completely grey / white hair.
Still have the leather jacket, attitude.

It's all in the attitude @MoBookworm1957 . My hair turned grey in my 30's and now it is kind of white grey but just going with it as I am allergic to most hair dyes.

We own half of the creek behind the home so can pump from it if necessary and apparently we heard from our solicitor that all properties backing onto creeks have the same water rights.

Round 1 of the morning with loading up all the large split firewood logs from under the garage into the trailer and headed out to our soon new to be home as we have permission from the owners to put things into the sheds prior to settlement day. While we were out there we took some homemade chocolate chip biscuits with us and of course our usual 10lt pot of water and sat in the lean to 3 bay garage shed and admired the views out the back of the property. It was lovely and there was a nice cool breeze blowing. We also did some more planning and will take out a chainsaw with us tomorrow to tidy up the area where we will be putting the manure.

Despite me telling DH to stop throwing logs from under the house until I loaded what we had he continued and a log went up over the top of the pile and crashed into my ankle and got to say it smarts a bit and is rather bruised. Arnica cream was put on it and I strapped it up with an elastic bandage from our med kit for the trip out there. His reaction was to say I threw a fridge at him previously (which I did lifting it over a doorstep thinking it was going to be heavier) and get out of the road so he can carry on . Hmm a few choice non swearing words came out of my mouth as I said can you at least grab the arnica cream and never fear I will finish loading the blinkin trailer and unload it at the other end even if I crawl as I am a tough country girl after all and I wasn't amused with his attitude. To top it all off the stabiliser bars he insisted I purchase snapped before we got out of the driveway so they will go back for a refund.

We will be loading the rest of the firewood this afternoon along with some items from the shed to take there tomorrow morning and we have some padlocks we purchased to go on it once we do that. Keeping my body away totally this time until he throws all the logs out from under the house and he can help me load them.

DH has now got on a load of washing and is hanging it on the clothes line now.

Rant over and we have had a pleasant day from when we got to the home anyway with the firewood.

Round 2 of today is that we have folded up 3 loads of washing, I got on another load of washing and hung it on the clothes line and DH has cleaned the benches, washed the dishes and I dried them and put them away.

Then downstairs for round 2 of loading up the remaining firewood in the trailer which is now done with the tin we will sit it on strapped to the top and a warning flag we are over length at the back. We will head out tomorrow with this and do a little more work too while we are there.

Both sore and using arnica cream tonight after warm showers. Husband misunderstanding and thought the log missed me but should know I don't bung it on for no reason. The joys of moving .

That made me cringe, reading about your injury.
I'm sure it'll bruise. No more injuries! Seems like my husband always gets an injury when we're moving. Sliced his palm open as he tumbled in the truck last time. Needed stitches.
Actually I tripped over a box last time and banged myself up pretty good. A rib complained, scratches, bruises.
Maybe you'll be able to rest your feet and ankles while being waited upon. Lol

Sorry to have been absent this past week. I had to fly emergently to North Carolina for my mom. We thought she had a kidney infection, but it wasn't getting better. My sister took her to the emergency room, and we discovered that she had a number of spots of cancer on her spine and in her belly. Further testing showed she has end stage malignant melanoma that has metastasized to her brain (11 tumors there!), lungs, liver, abdomen, lymph nodes, and bones. We moved her yesterday from the hospital to a Hospice home for terminal care. Today is the first day I've had time to catch my breath, and I still have a jillion things to do this morning before I go over to see her. I am very blessed, though, that my mother is "ready" to die. She lost the love of her life 7 years ago, and there is not a day that she does not miss him. She has an incredibly strong faith, and knows that she will soon be reunited with her dear Bob. The folks from her church have been incredibly supportive of her, and of my siblings and I as well. Anyway, I am extending my stay here for at least another week so we can finish getting her affairs in order.

I shoveled out the sidewalk to the carport this morning and also cleared off what was left on the porch ramp. Hubby cleared out the driveway and the lane down to the hardtop road yesterday after work with the bobcat. He decided to come home a little earlier and got the snow removal done. He said he shoveled snow at work almost the whole shift. He had to keep the emergency room drive and walkway open and he also shoveled out around the One Day Surgery ( don't know if they were operating or not. didn't ask him), he was one tuckered out fella. I fed him and he managed to stay awake long enough to have a beer and watch a little tv but he was in bed by 6:45.
After today he's taking 2 weeks off instead of one. I have some things he can get done for me lol
We got 8 inches of sleet snow and ice. It started warming up and melting early this morning.
Gonna start the Crystal Singer series by McCaffery today ( its only 2 books). Finished the Freedom series yesterday. After that I have the notion to start the Dragon Riders series from the very beginning ( the short story of when they first found Pern)

We just did a little thrift shopping this morning and I bought another turkey to bake at the local grocery.

Now that I'm home, I will dust house and clean bathrooms. Also need to make another spoon bread for get together after Church Sunday. Won't have time tomorrow.

Finished putting the partition in Izzy's dog house,put everything up from making them and from moving stuff out of the way when we moved the corn furnace out of the garage and later I'll finish getting my gear ready for tomorrow's opening of deer firearms season.......Man that was a mouthful,now I've got to catch my breath

Thank you @Patchouli I am sure the accidents happen when most people are moving because you are rushing to get things done.

Ankle is swollen in waves similar to a childrens wave large slippery dip in two places and across ball of foot and other side where the log ran over. The good thing about above ankle military combat boots that we wear is I will do them up tighter around the ankle and across the ball of the foot which acts as a brace and supports the area and will wear my usual cushioned work socks. Shall pop some more arnica cream on shortly which has stopped most of the bruising as I imagine without that it would have been bruised up past my ankle and foot by now and will take a couple of panadol.

Plans for today will be unload the firewood from the trailer putting it on the sheets of tin, clear brush in the manure, compost bays and chook pen already built there and spray it for the weeds so when we get time we can put the cow and horse manures and Lucerne hay in there. We will also take some time to sit and admire the views again today.

Our over-the-stove microwave went bad about a month ago. It was under warranty and they sent out a repairman who did not fix it. Then today a different repairman came and worked on it for two hours. Then he said it needed parts that he did not have so he made an appointment to return to fix it in 4 weeks. Why didn't the company just ship me a new one? Would have been way cheaper for them.

Here's Mom's Old Fashion Gingerbread recipe:
I stand corrected it has 7 ingredients in it.
1 cup of molasses
1 cup of sour milk
2 1/3 cups of flour
1 3/4 teaspoon of soda
2 teaspoons of ginger
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup of butter
Add milk to molasses.
Mix and sift dry ingredients,combine mixtures, add butter and beat vigorously.
Pour into a buttered shallow pan
Bake 25 minutes in moderate oven 350*F
Recipe from the Boston Cooking School Cookbook published in 1896.
