Nope! THIS no way, I would take zero degrees over 110. That's hell . At least when it's zero you can dress in layers and go sit next to the wood stove to warm up. 110 , you can't even get the ac working to cool it enoughMy truck doesn't have heat!! If I can stay home I sure as heck will!! It was 87° a week and a half ago, and these are record low temps here! If it were this temperature ALL winter, it would be different!! AND, I wouldn't live here if it was!! If you like cold weather, have at it!! I prefer 110°!!
wow, glad she is ok.Today, I spent time getting ready for another winter storm. We went to purchase propane and also brought some groceries. Yesterday, someone tried to rob my wife at Food Lion. Another man saw what was happening and helped, but the robber escaped. She said she didn't want to live in fear, so we returned to Food Lion today.
The only widowed woman I know about your age is my best friend in Germany ( her husband died a few years ago )i think people offer it up a times to say hey i am single...most or many older folks are still married so theres that part too.
at our age you either divorced,widow/widower or been single and never married....we toss in lived together in that category.....majority in that order too.....we got decades of living where younger folks have not and most are single.
yea i learned a lesson or three for sure....sure you have as well.
I feed ours well, too. Right now they're loving canned corn, fresh spinach, and chopped apple, as well as their regular feed. We have a very large chain link run with a chicken wire top. I used to cover the top, but if it snows, it'll take down the whole run, so I don't anymore. I don't have a coop in that run, but I do tarp off 3 sections of heavy tarp, 12 ft each side for wind protection, and there are perches in there and straw on the ground in that area. So far so good. I always expect to see them dead in weather like this. Our other turkey run, I'm not so concerned about, there's a three sided shed in it, and a big tree overhang, And I use wind tarps on that one, too. Our chickens have coops and runs, and so do our geese, and they're all fine.My adult turkeys do really well in cold temps even exposed. I always get worried they will get too cold when it's in the negatives but somehow they do ok.
They have a big coop and run..they have the option of going in the coop . Sometimes they do but mostly they just prefer to be on top of the coop.
I do however feed them a daily bowl of cooked rice, some almost expired canned veggie and a package of hotdogs on top of their poultry food they get. I load them up on calories to make sure their bellies are warm n full. I only have a few turkeys so it's not a huge expense to feed extra in winter.
I'm glad she's ok, too. I'd be joining you in jail, Sonya.wow, glad she is ok.
I would be in jail most likely
Told you, I could fix you up with a widow Mennonite. Ha Hawell...i am just caring on about ashley and young and restless...why widow women...well at age of 59 many women i have ran into on trail hiking have been widows....they often offer up this information in passing conversation on trail...i was sorta shocked to be honest at just how many....this late in life you either are a divorced or widowed if you are someone i could have a date with...why..cause elk dont mess with married women...good way to end up in hell in the end and shot dead.
at a senior age theres few of population not been married or widowed...i know 2 on this forum...me being one...thees another i know of she can shout out if she wants too...oh wait theres 3...just recalled another...i think.
conversations go like this...hey how ya doing sure is a nice day to be out on trail and getting a hike in....yea it sure is...i been getting out a lot the last few years since my husband passed away 2-3-5 years ago...have a good hike see you later.
first time a woman told me she was a widow it sorta shocked me.....i see it more on trails closer to a larger town in my area.
it may be a way of an older woman opening up conversation to an older male...i dont know...i dont know much about women really and how they function...i rely on female friends for advice in that area often.....i failed so much in the past.
I think you guys get hotter and for longer. I don't like the heat, I end up changing my sleeping schedule over it. The only way to get anything done in the heat is to get up at some ungodly hour, or work in the dark with mosquitos. We do get very cold here, but usually not for long. Now Minnesota.....I'd never live there. Or Wisconsin. Yikes. But I will take cold over heat. That's right!! I would never live in Canada, it's what I prefer!! I do have to say Amish Heart, Kansas has some of the coldest AND hottest temperatures!!
I do not care for hot weather either. Humid weather is even worse. There's usually about 5 or 6 days in August that I have to run the AC here. In summer our humidity is around 12%. Hottest temp that I've seen here was 95 degs.I think you guys get hotter and for longer. I don't like the heat, I end up changing my sleeping schedule over it. What do you consider cold? Lol..I must be a wimpy girl..but anything below about 15 to me is a stay inside day..or short outside get it done day.I do not care for hot weather either. We don't get really cold temps here in winter, but starting in October, November it seldom gets above freezing. Snow usually starts in October and stays on the ground until at least April. Latest snow was in June, the higher parts of the property there will be patches until May. Right now we have between 4 and 6 feet of snow on the ground. It's not too bad dealing with this snow. I have 2 snowblowers and 3 plows. Next to the door on every building is a snow shovel, every vehicle has a shovel, and 4 vehicles have winches.
We usualy only get a few weeks of single didgets and below. I've lived and worked in nothern Alaska, Russia, Central Asia, eastern Europe and 7 years in Antarctica, both summers and winters. These places can get pretty cold at times. The average summer high temp in parts of Antarctica is -35.What do you consider cold? Well ok..I've been outside at 10 degrees on a nice brisk sunny winter day b4 when it was 10 in a light sweater n it wasn't bad..but you get what I mean..

Partly. Mostly I just didn't want to go. I haven't been feeling too good since my last doctor visit.
Hot Tea with Honey n Lemon Juice if on hand...!!! Also put some Brandy, Rum, Bourbon in it for taste...!!Actually there wasn't any cars on the road. I was really tired, not feeling well and didn't want to make a 12 hour day out of it. It's a good day to catch up on my sleep.
Yes she did. It was supposed to be a B 12 shot.Hot Tea with Honey n Lemon Juice if on hand...!!! Also put some Brandy, Rum, Bourbon in it for taste...!!
Did Your Doc use a Needle on Last Visit...?
well this sorta goes back to what i was saying..most people our age are married...the singles now are mostly widows as our generation...very rough rule are married and not just single in some form..be it divorcee,widow/widower etc. not being with someone in some form at this age is extreme minority...at least on this lower edge of seniors...might be higher in older seniors. The only widowed woman I know about your age is my best friend in Germany ( her husband died a few years ago )
or I would set you up!
Don't know any single never married women that I am aware of. There are a few LGBDXYZ at the market but they would not be interested in you LOL ( maybe they are married , not sure)
i was awesome today...did NOT watch young and restless and didnt eat any potato chips !!lets tell ourselves we are going to be awesome today too !!!!!!
Had to wait 15 minutes for the doctor. If I can make down to town on time then she can make my appointment on time.
I take a book and a cup of tea and look at it as break time.I always thought Dr appt were the time we had to be in the waiting room to WAIT.
Ben
Have you cleaned the filter? That’s pretty easy and effective if it’s part of the problem. No trouble making it to church yesterday, though attendance was pretty light. Most of the other churches cancelled. Went to Meijers for a few things after and spent the rest of the day camped by the fire watching old Columbo episodes. (Well, she was watching, I may have dozed off....). More snow and cold. Got about 10" additional over the weekend. I don't really mind, I've always loved winter, but my snowblower is giving me fits. Keeps dropping rpms and running poorly and really slows me down. I'm quite irritated with it, couldn't even finish the driveway down to the shed today, just too much fighting with it. I did order a new carb and hopefully I can figure out how to change it out. I have no idea if that will help but I don't know what else to try.
I did manage to clear out the garage area and out to the road, so my daughter could leave. Her little car was buried and wasn't going to make it out through the drifts. The winds picked up today so the driveway was drifting in as soon as I got it cleaned out.
I ate a lot, didn't accomplish enough!! This is kind of a staycation for me for a few days! So I was awesome enough!!i was awesome today...did NOT watch young and restless and didnt eat any potato chips !!
how about yall...were you awesome...i hope you were !
i tried to be extra awesome and hike...but 24f and snowing...well i failed today going to do that...no trails in blizzard experience.
I was awesome today. After reading your post this morning, husband was in a grumbling mood after breakfast, saying everything always hurts, his body giving out. I told him it's now our brain time to be strong, body was strong in our 20's and 30's and we were dumber than rocks. So now we are awesomingly smart, because we're so old that we know everything now and that does make us awesome. I did make him laughi was awesome today...did NOT watch young and restless and didnt eat any potato chips !!
