She's probably working on a sign right now, LazyL
"Touch my stuff and die"

I told hubby I was going to start going through stuff before packing. He told me not to let him see what I was tossing and don't tell him. He wants to keep everything but knows the new house is smaller.

At least yours have a comprehension of how much will fit where. Mine doesn't.

At our first house I was remodeling the bathroom. Exterior wall then the tub, sink cabinet and stairway wall. Anything under 50" for the sink cabinet would work. When the wife went to pick out the sink cabinet I reminded her, "50 inches or under". She brought back a 72 inch cabinet and was upset because I wouldn't "make it fit". Guess I could have cut a hole in the exterior wall to let the tub hang 22 inches outside?

@The Lazy L your stories crack me up. It reminds me of when I used to go to an old fashioned men's barber shop. The old guys would sit in there all afternoon drinking coffee and telling "My Wife Stories" about whatever their wives did that drove them nuts. Sometimes the wives would show up and drag them out of there. Some of the wives even banned their husbands from going to the barber shop! :D

Glad you enjoy the wife stories.

Wife tells me her car has a dent in the front that you can't see. A dent you can't see? That I got to see!

Or the one where she hands me a grocery sack with pieces of a car hubcap in the sack. I asked her what happen? Nothing that she is aware of. Then how did she know to stop and pickup the hubcap pieces? Deer in the headlights look is her answer. Front left rim was bent so bad I'm surprised air stayed in the tire. How do you bend a steel rim, stop to recover bits and pieces of hubcap without knowing what she hit?

My dad is painting the living room and the kitchen.
Or rather my youngest sister and I are painting the living room and the kitchen.
The new shade of paint in living room is slightly darker then the strip between the posts on this page.
Or that's what he thinks.
New carpet is brown, 200 year old barn wood on walls is dark too.
My sister and I are prepping away in the living room.
When dad pipes up I need to check his clothes for him to make sure they are correct.
My sister looks at me funny, but off I go to check dad's clothes out to make sure everything is coordinated.
Dad is color blind.
Youngest sister, middle sister and brother didn't know this. Hmm.....
My youngest sister looks at me and says did you go with dad to pick out this color?
Nope, not me, he said he would take you with him.
You guessed it, he went by himself to pick out paint and carpet.
But the good news is the blue shag, green shag and the orange shag carpet will be gone.
Plus what ever was the other two colors of shag carpet were so old they had lost the shag part will be gone.
So there is great possibility we will be repainting the living room again.
But hey! I'm retired! I have all this free time.
Congratulations Lazy L. on your upcoming retirement!

Good evening Homesteaders...I had a union meeting tonight, where I got elected as my Lodge's legislative representative. I might get to go to the state capitol to sit in on a lawmaking session. That would be interesting to say the least...

Otherwise, I just worked out and took a two mile walk after sunset. God gave us a beautiful evening here in Iowa and it would have been a shame to waste it indoors...;)

Many years ago my wife had a fire hydrant run into the street and it ran into the side of our car. When I came home from work she was crying as she told me about it. I said it was just a car so no big deal. She quit crying and got mad at me because I was not mad about the car damage. That was many years ago and I still don't understand it.

Sounds like she got herself ready for a fight and then you didn't provide one. I've been there too. I guess if she wants to be mad, she'll find a reason...:dunno:

They need a reason?

While we are on reasons DH put his foot through the bedroom ceiling panel. My response was well it could have been worse you could have fallen through the ceiling with the vacuum cleaner.

DH has bad back injuries from a military accident so that would have been dire if he had fallen and injured his back again after being reconstructed. A ceiling panel can be replaced but a severe back or body injury can't.

I could have screamed and yelled and carried on like a pork chop but it isn't going to fix the fact the ceiling panel has 3 large cracks in it. Boy I have mellowed from my hotheaded redhead younger days :) .

Today was all about finishing cleaning out the ceiling cavity and we did it along with sweeping the outer eave panels too. The long handled banister brushes that you can stand up and use work a treat for areas you cannot reach :) . We also brought up the 10 bags of woollen ceiling batts from the meat shed too and put them in the food storage room ready to put up on Saturday.

I also put on a load of washing and hung it on the clothesline to dry and watered the canna lilies, spider plants and half of the hotshot canna lilies at the side of the house with the grey water from the washing machine. After that I cleaned a part of the kitchen vinyl where something had been spilt.

I have never been so glad to have a nice warm shower and my hair from all the dust and wood chips in my hair was sticking to my head and the brush had a hard time getting through it before I washed it. Anyone if they came to visit would have thought I was a vagrant woman with dust and dirt all over me and wood chips and dust all over my hair.

Tonight's dinner DH had oysters, dip and cheese with crackers and I had fruit and sandwiches with a side of chocolate. We both needed lots of fat and salt after today's marathon.

...Dad is color blind....

My Dad was red green color blind. Mom made the mistake of telling us kids. :D When mom would be wearing a new dress I would call it any color but the color it actually was. :D This went on for a few years, then she took me to the eye Doctor. Doctor flip through his color charts and I'd call out the "hidden" number. Doctor told mom that I could read every color chart he had correctly. Mom didn't believe the Doctor. To this day see still believes (or fears) I'm colored blind. :D

:D well maybe listening to this beautiful happy song will help.

Watered garden and maybe work on van bed while waiting for bed foam delivery.

Well in defense of us women ,we get suspicious when you guys get too 'understanding'.

We had success at the audiologist yesterday! He should have hearing aids for the first time in his life, within a couple of months. Good deals at the thrift store and of course at the salvage grocery!

So far today--Made croutons and bread crumbs from some older frozen bread, made riced cauliflower in the food processor. A visiting nurse came and fitted dH for a percussion vest--brought one too big and will send smaller one soon. Tried to call VA but their phone system is wacky again. Will go weed in garden in awhile.

I think I will have solved my lack of sleep problem soon! I believe it started when I had to start getting up early to take care of goats in the morning--probably over a year ago. DH's breathing was a lot worse and we were worried that he might not make it back in to the house. Now, his breathing is better and we have room mate also here. i used to sleep ok so I hope this change of shifts will help. He will start mornings again after next week, since I have to be up for Vacation Bible School anyway June 3-7. So looking forward to a decent night's sleep again. Hope to get away from the Ambien that helps a little, sometimes, but not much!

We started installing the solar panels for the project I've been working on. Had a little learning curve, which I expected, but nothing serious. Tomorrow will go better. Got home and worked up more of 2 of my garden spots getting ready to plant more this weekend. Also worked out and fertilized my onions and cabbage that's in the ground. Looking good so far.

Its bronchitis again BUT today was the last day of school so I'm free. I'm packing up some fencing and running it up the mountain to start fencing the yard for the dogs and chickens. Have to come back down for the kids dentist apt next week but then I'm going to start taking loads of stuff up the mtn.

Today we decided not to put the insulation batts up in the ceiling as we are both too sore from lifting and moving ourselves under the roof joists cleaning it. Instead we decided on gentle tasks such as deep cleaning the house for the week.

I started off with putting DH's load of whites on in the washing machine and turning it on and he used the grey water to water the potted trees and herbs. I then got on another load of dark washing and used the grey water to water in the soil in 4 above ground and 1 in-ground garden bed and then went over and watered the neighbours gardens for them while they are away.

A friend sent me an email about an orphaned redneck wallaby she had there and as DH used to be a volunteer wildlife carer we were able to give her tips on what to feed it and where to get the food from. As it is furred and out of the mother's pouch it will likely survive with a bit of macropod food pellets for a little until it gets bigger and finds it's own way. It does eat grass so that is a start.

DH then vacuumed the whole house and I deep cleaned the bathrooms and toilet for the week and then we took in the 3 loads of dry washing off the clothes line and brought it upstairs. We then washed all the dirty dishes in the kitchen, cleaned the benches and I wiped them and put them away. Then we went down to the RSL club for our weekly date afternoon and played a few games of pool with a slightly mentally disabled man we have taken under our wing. He is such a well mannered man but has problems organising daily activities due to extensive drinking over the years. We help and suggest ways for him to pay his bills by having it taken directly out of his pay. He also volunteered to help us with setting up our garden beds here when we had friends here too and is such a hard worker. The local RSL club help him out financially too when he is struggling paying bills on his pension.

Tonight's dinner was homemade chicken, mushroom and tomato pizza.

A strange turn of events here. A couple down the road that I’ve known my entire life, their oldest son is just a year or so younger than me. This morning Mrs.W was crossing the highway to go to her daughter’s house in a golf cart.

Somehow, she was killed by a truck. There is a blind spot there if going west. I’ve had a few close calls at that spot. You can’t see over a small rise if going west.

Sad, her husband has severe Alzheimer’s and she was his caregiver. I know all their kids, they’ll be heart broken.

Thought I'm not directly related to Mrs. W two of her sisters are married into my family. The son of her youngest sister is married to my niece...
