DH had doc appts. yesterday and today (today's in a town an hour and a half away). Stopped at thrift shops after. And then salvage grocery, then home. Made oatmeal and then teriyaki drumsticks in the instant pot. Just got done cleaning up at 9:15 tonight. Chicken still cooking. Also did a load of laundry today.
Yesterday, after we got home from docs, I dug up the rest of the potatoes in garden, cut some okra and butternut squash and planted spinach and lettuce where potatoes were. And a load of laundry.

Today we started off the morning with putting together all of the drip irrigation frames for each of the ten garden beds and they are now finished. Don't you hate it when you have something on your shopping list and forget it which was the case with the 13mm pvc garden t-pieces. Fortunately we had enough from our last property and a few new ones in our gardening box and DH thought the other packets of pvc t-pieces were packs of 50 but they were 25. Oh well we will have enough to scavenge from our bits and pieces irrigation box once we cut some hose off them and bonus it saves money :) . It was so cold here today we had to leave the pvc pipes on the concrete to warm up so we could get the fittings into them.

DH then got a call to go to the RSL to meet the septic tradesman there as the pump in the septic system didn't appear to work and he wasn't sure if the power was on on it so he checked and the pump was definitely faulty so it is now replaced. The RSL president was on the Gold Coast so couldn't be there.

For dinner we had toasted sausage and egg sandwiches. We both had a warm shower and are sitting in the lounge room enjoying the heat coming from the fan forced slow combustion stove and the cat is curled up asleep on the foot rest of DH's lounge chair.

Monday I said I needed a week of doing absolutely nothing, even stocked my fridge and freezer in advance.

I forgot about the ultrasound at the hosp. on Tues... Suddenly the CT has been repaired... leaving in a few minutes for that...

There are two kinds of internal contrast for a CT... the cheap crappy kind with iodine for those of us with cheap crappy insurance. It makes me & most people feel like crap afterwards.

Then there is the expensive good contrast without iodine for people with great insurance.

Pension folks didn't respond to my email. Been less then thirty days, I need to give them time?

Stop at my former employer this morning to have them sign off on my 401K and Medicare. CFO had my pension info, they mailed it to him instead direct to me.

On the way home stopped at the local gravel pit and ordered 8 tons of processed gravel. They will delver this afternoon or tomorrow. For $10,000 I can buy a used toy front end loader or for $200 a hand wheel barrow. I want to fill behind the ditch retaining wall, bring grade up for a future sidewalk and around the shop. With the front end loader I can get the gravel moved in a day. Wheel barrow will take me a week or two of shoveling and dumping. Next trip to town I'll by the wheel barrow.

Read the pension info. Highest payout would terminate in 10 years. I'll be in my mid 70's. Dad live to 91 and grandpa to 99. Next best option is to take the "lifetime" option, if I live pass 83, I'll be money ahead. I'll have to mull it over a bit before deciding.

Finally got the Internet fixed properly.
And no it wasn't OE(operator error), it was wasp nest in the box.
So I'm back.
Last Tuesday went to VA for tests, bloodwork.
Most of the test went well, all except the MRI.
The vampires got their blood in one jab all 6 tubes.
CAT scan went well, X-rays went well, Orthopedic appointment went well.
Have scheduled to do Right knee total replacement for 9 January @0600 hours.
MRI didn't go well at all.
I'm claustriphoic, don't like tight, enclosed places.
So lets put someone in enclosed tube for MRI.
Half way through the test, tech who doesn't know anything, says Ma'am quit moving.
I inform lowly tech< I'm not moving.
But I am having a seizure.
Before they could get me out of enclosed tube, went into full blown panic, aniexty attack, seizure.
When they got me out my hands were bleeding, guess I was trying to claw my way out.
Needless to say have to go back next week to try MRI again in open tube.
As for the tech, his head and behind belongs to head of department for quite some time to come.
Strawberry has been sticking close to me for several days.
She's now napping in her kennel, snoring up a storm.
This is the first day I have been out of her sight for more than 5 minutes.
She's been sleeping by my bed on the floor since Tuesday last week.
She's such a good girl most of the time.
We are both adjusting to being in new apartment.
But so far it's been pretty good.
Everybody have nice(hotter than heck here) day, evening, night, morning, afternoon.
Stay safe in the heat.

Went to the local town today for a couple items (we were almost out of ice cream!).
In over 40 years of marriage we have never owned a cast iron fry pan. So today at a thrift store I bought a 8", 10" and 12". Paid too much but now we have them. We have had a cast dutch oven for many years. I might yet buy a cast griddle.

Great find on the cast iron. I love the stuff, my wife hates it

Staying inside. Heat warning for the next 3 days.
Made cookies this morning
Been reading some things that I down loaded years ago and never got around to reading
Having leftovers for supper

Wanted to add that yesterday morning I look out the window and theres a dead cat ( I think thats 2 now so far) laying there. No blood or wounds so the pups must have snapped it's neck * shrugs*
Today theres a dead groundhog and pups have it ripped open and Bella is eating it. Everytime I try to get near it they run off with it. Apparently they think Mom is going to chase them in triple digit heat like its some kind of new game " keep the dead thing from Mom". Well thats not happening.
What gets me is hubby can get the dead things away from them to dispose of like its nothing.
Anything that comes in the yard is fair game and will be killed

A nutty day… As doc’s narrow my ailments towards a specific cause my herb friends have jumped all over the major symptoms.

I needed tea from the bloom of a plant. 12 days ago my yard was full of them! As the July sun beat down they began to go to seed rapidly. I didn’t have the energy to mess with them… little did I know!

Yesterday I drove 70 miles of backroads and found a dozen tiny second growth blooms, enough for two cups of tea.

This morning I started driving north. 116 miles later I found a patch the sun hadn’t killed and harvested enough to last me a week.

I had to do it. I can spot these blooms at road speed 60-70mph. The only other person I know who can do this is a friend who was on his way to Michigan to teach a 2-day herb class.

Speaking of my friend… he has plenty of this bloom in tincture form but won’t be back home until Tuesday. By the time he ships tincture to me it’ll be next Thursday before I receive it.

So, I had a day from H E double tooth picks. The last thing in the world I wanted to do was get out of my recliner this morning. Hey, what’s a 232-mile drive when you have absolutely no choice. :(
