Everyone take care!

What??!!! I have been out of the loop...Peanut, will you be OK????

What??!!! I have been out of the loop...Peanut, will you be OK????

Don't know honestly... After a tough 6 weeks I'm out of the woods. For the short term things are under control. I have several specialists and even more herbalists scratching their heads on the situation. My friend D. was even digging through herbal manuscripts going back to the 15th century... bless his heart!

They have me an appointment with some mastermind specialist in B'ham in early Dec. It's the earliest I could get an appointment. So... I'll know more then.

Until then I have to take two meds with really annoying side effects. Oh well! I really hate pharmaceuticals... :(

going to take my step-dad to the church food bank tomorrow. i gotta be real honest here; my MOTHER was raised poor and grew up canning and freezing. but i guess at her age she prefers what you buy in the stores/ i really don't care what her reasoning is now as long as they have plenty of food.

Canned 20 pints of tomatoes from the garden. First time ever canning and it's a little intimidating.
I over filled some jars and the lids bulged up but they are popping so I guess that means they sealed.
I would hate to poison us over tomatoes especially since I don't like tomatoes except fresh from the garden.
My wife likes them and she does make a great spaghetti sauce.
I ordered a camp chef 2 burner stove so I can can outside and not heat up the house. Should be here Thursday.
Anyone use those to can? Any words of wisdom?

Not sure what to can on outside, no experience there.

I went to the thrift shops this morning and visited friend in nursing home, then Walmart to do a return. This afternoon, I harvested all the poblanos, cut okra to freeze, cut parsley, basil and thyme to freeze. About all that's left are sweet potatoes and okra. Supposed to be quite hot this week, 100 Saturday.

In celebration of our temps for the next 4 days:
96, 96, 97, and 98, with 0% chance of rain or clouds, I have downshifted from jeans to shorts.
I religiously wear jeans and a white shirt every day so the neighbors are now wondering who the strange guy is that is walking down the road:eek:.

Whoa...

Glad to hear that you are out of the woods, so to speak. May you continue in that direction!

I'll be PMing you soon... ((((Peanut))))

We are having a late peach season in Colorado this year. Normally peach season is over by now, but it seems we are at the height of it now.

We have two major producers that are usually available at local farmer's markets and local grocery stores, Palisade Peaches and Ela Family Farms. I prefer Ela Family Farms peaches. I purchased a box of peaches on Sunday and am processing them for the freezer this week.

@Peanut , you take care of yourself.

Went for my 6 week visit ,first visit, after New knee.

He was excited with where I was, said I was 3 weeks ahead of schedule. I'm happy,
just still have low grade pain.

Rescheduled next knee out to Nov 20th.

Came home and mowed for hour and half. First time in 7 weeks.

Tired now.

The
I've had New Balance and will not repeat. I'll stick with North Face with special PF insoles. Regardless, my podiatrist gave me a bunch of excercises and other garbage to do and none of it is worth a s--t. I'm 100% dis satisfied with his advice...
The PF foot brace worn at night is what finally helped my husband. He said it wasn't comfortable to sleep with it, but that was the only thing that helped. He also uses the PF insoles. The exercises did nothing for him. I did also get him a couple pairs of the athletic socks with L and R specific supports and he said those seemed to help some but it might have just been because they are made to support feet.
Just finished reading all the other posts. We seem to be a fix-it bunch of folks and don't want you to hurt. Well wishes to you - I would guess from more than just me.

We are still without water. Property mgt. is a joke. 6:23pm, there is finally someone here (not his fault he wasn't informed earlier.). So over 24 hrs. in emergency status- glad I'm not bleeding or trapped under a car or something. Geesh!

I totally understand your mother not wanting to do all the work involved. The older I get, the less energy and interest I have in working as hard as I used to.

Yesterday I started off the morning doing transferring money to varying bills, savings and mortgage accounts to make sure money is there when the big bills come in. We bank x amount each fortnight to cover the bills and when they come in pay them straight away. I also purchased 6 months worth of cat prescription dry food for missy as poor thing was only born with half her teeth and has some plaque issues that this food gets rid of by her chewing.

We then did a load of washing each and hung it on the clothes line to dry and will take it off the line shortly. DH then got instructions from a CPA at the local pub who came to the home to show him how to do the book work on MYOB and he know has it down pat and should be able to catch up on a few months book work for the RSL club.

DH in the afternoon called local electricians in the area to get a quote for installing led fluros in the kitchen, putting in our new 90 cm stove and replacing a light baton in the bathroom downstairs. So far we have had 2 quotes one from a friend who told us $1300 and one from a local electrician $300 - $400 and another electrician coming out to give us a quote. DH thought the one from a friend was the one to go with and I told him no that is just hugely expensive and he now sees my point :) . To be fair he has never owned a house like I have and is not savvy with what tradies should and should not be charging.

In the afternoon we planted some silverbeet, lettuce and beetroot seedlings in the first garden bed and set off the drip irrigation system for an hour to water them in after digging in some organic fertiliser. Our replacement ram arrived for the log splitter so DH undid all the pipes to drain out the hydraulic fluid out of the system so it would be ready today to install the new one.

This morning DH has paid our tithe and fast offering from his pay and is currently putting the new ram in the log splitter. I have told the log splitter company we purchased it off if this doesn't work after this we want a full refund.

I have just relaxed read some things on the net and put more cortisone and aloe vera on my face. Pleased to report that the cortisone cream has done the trick and the inflammation and redness are almost gone and I am just like a baby butt pink on the face where the skin has peeled off but it looks better. Pain wise I am totally out of pain and sleeping like a baby now. At night I am putting on the cortisone cream then lanolin and during the day cortisone cream and aloe vera. The aloe vera has a wonderful cooling effect on the face.

Got a phone call this morning that the psychiatrist had a cancellation in their bookings and they can fit DH in this afternoon so we said yes. Will be travelling about 70 km each way but the fuel and more are covered by DVA. I think they will diagnose him with PTSD as the psychologist has already said he has it and that condition will be then added to his white card and compensation payments paid as it was due to his accident from his military days.

Thank you @phideaux doing much better than I was and in almost no pain. I hope your pain subsides given some healing time and in the meantime you have some pain meds that will take the edge off for you.

Finally DID close on the real estate for the school today. Spent some time showing the new owners how to operate the mechanicals and the commercial kitchen. Handed over the keys and shook hands. Now...off to something different.
Congratulations! And have you done your happy dance? It's not truly done until you do the dance :) dancing chicken

That's awesome! As far as using the outdoor burners, just watch for drafts. If you are water bath canning, it's not quite as critical but for pressure canning, you don't want your pressure to drop and have to start over. Otherwise, it's pretty much like any other gas stove. Enjoy! You will appreciate the quality come winter :)

@backlash well done and everything is always intimidating the first time you do it and then you find quicker and more efficient ways to do things. I hope you have many more happy canning sessions.

:dancing: @Amish Heart on your final handover of the school and having it sold. It is now a new chapter in your life where you can do this "hotair:and many more things.

Round 2 of today is that we got back from DH's psychologist appointment and she has already confirmed he has both PTSD and depression and wants a few more follow up appointments with him. She wants him to get a head MRI scan for trauma he suffered in the accident to check for possible brain injuries and a blood test too. More to come no doubt but all of this will be paid for by DVA as they have approved that all costs will be covered for a mental health assessment for him.

We got a burgers and chips from a local shop for dinner.

I sat in a meeting this morning and justified to a bunch of bureaucrats that 911 Telecomunicators aren't just like "secretaries who answer the phone". I then explained repeatedly how much time and training it takes be a 911 TC and that if we don't get their pay inline with fair market value we are going to start losing people and then they will paying out a whole lot more in overtime, not to mention slowing down police and emergency services response times. There is no such thing as common sense anymore.

Well , I guess riding a zero turn for 1 1/2 hours yesterday wasn't meant to help the new knee...it's kinda telling me that today.
So I just finished my pota coffee, 6 boiled eggs, 3 sausage patties, and icing down the knee ,
Settling down now for a day of rest.

Ain't that the way it works....put in a hard day then take 2-3 days to recover:D

The wife wanted a new gas BBQ this spring. I suggested that she get one with a side burner in case she wanted to "cook some beans or something." I was really thinking that it would be nice to have a place to use the canner in the summer heat.

Went to do the store specials this morning, picked up husband's prescriptions, put chickens on to boil, folded yesterday's laundry and put away, did and hung two more loads, filled two dehydrators with store purchases. Ready to go out and feed the ducks and turkeys and a few more chicken runs. Did most of the chickens early this morning. The Romanian came and bought all the extra eggs I had for his pasta making wife. Showed him some fresh milled flour, and he's thinking about that. Son is off work today, and he's working on more rabbit hutches. Planning on getting more breeders, and he has four babies to move to another hutch. Need to get lettuce planted.

Yep

Have had grand daughter for the last several days.
Hurricane Estelle has done a number on Granny and Poor Strawberry.
She got her behind warmed a few times in the last few days.
Seems she tried to brush Strawberry's teeth with her toothbrush.
Strawberry wasn't having it.
Toothbrush has been sterilized in hydrogen peroxided,
She didn't bite grand daughter, but I imagine she wanted to give her a little nip.
Finally got all the toothpaste off Strawberry's face this morning.
It's also now out of her fur, tail.
Grand daughter got swatted.
Today she tried to give Strawberry hugs and kisses, holding on tight.
You guessed it, she got swatted.
She tried to climb up to the top of my bed to get to Strawberry, cause she wants to kiss Strawberry.
Thankfully, I don't have grand daughter for the next few days.
Hurricane Estelle, emptied her bookcase this morning.
Finally got all the books back in the bookcase.
Yarn is untangled, that took 3 hours alone.
Still have to dust the floors, dishes can wait.
Coffee is made up for morning.
Poor Strawberry finally got to go take care of business in peace and quite.
Haven't seen Strawberry since grand daughter went home.
Went looking for her to make sure she was okay.
Sprawled out on my bed sleeping.
