Piano lesson for me.

First one in a month, after summer break. I was a little rusty (didn't practice much over break, sigh...) Currently working on the Schubert/Liszt piece below. Been working on it for a long time, and I just about have it polished to "performance ready" state. Well, I did, before break. I need to do some remedial touch-up work now. I love this piece - I've probably posted it here on HCL in the past, it takes several months to polish a piece like this to performance level (it looks and sounds like it should be easy, but it's far from that!)

Just started this one new today. It will be a while until I have it worked up. Can't decide it I like it enough to put in the effort, but we'll see. I've worked though Chopin's more well known nocturnes, I'm now to the ones where most people say, "I've never heard that one before".

You can get blue barrels that have had food in them, maybe corn syrup or other liquids. I have a few barrels. You can find them for little money or even free, watching Craigslist and Offer Up.

A few years ago farmers co-op stores were selling these in my state for $10 each. They had been used to ship olives. I bought a dozen of them. They are great for storing feed, catching water etc... They were 58 gallon in size (220 liters). There was a rubber o-ring in the lid, some barrels were missing the rubber ring so you had to check first.

A guy I knew was going to bury one full of long term food, wanted help getting the heavy barrel in the hole he dug... I suggested putting an empty barrel in the ground and then filling it with food. :D

I know some places sell used pickle barrels. 55 gallon, black food grade plastic with screw top lids. I've considered getting a couple for the farm to use for rainwater catchment. Those barrels would do the trick for anyone who wants to collect water. I don't know if you'd get some pickle taste in it though...
You will have a pickle taste, especially for dill pickles. You can use the water in the garden or for other uses. Eventually the taste will go away and you can use them for potable water. Bleach will speed the process, as will sun and air.

@Weedygarden Hopefully it doesn't happen often. The farmer hit the well cap and didn't say anything but propped it all together so nobody would notice. Dirt etc. got in the pipes and pump and fried it. Also, the bladder in the pressure tank apparently hadn't been checked or cared for some time and was low. The pressure tank is extremely old and will also be replaced in a week or two as it is not in great shape. We have only lived here 8 months so are getting quite the lesson in renting for the first time since 1994. Needless to say things have changed a bit.
I like the barrels @Peanut shared. I've not seen those before. I've been (slowly) researching and designing our forever home. A windmill for both power and water has been in my radar. They make them now so that if there is a storm, the blades can be locked so that it doesn't tear up the windmill. We had them for water for the cattle when I was a kid. If there was a storm, I remember my dad complaining about having to climb up to the blades and secure them - not safe. They are also much more environmentally friendly than solar panels to manufacture (IMO.). Lots to consider:)

Go pick up the Grandson in Toledo, probably hang out with him tomorrow assembling his new General Lee Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard..................Rebel Flag and all.

Getting prepared for the 2A march on Tuesday.

I am off today and all the kids are in school. So I am tooling around the house doing little chores and tasks, in between playing on this laptop and answering work related texts/emails. This afternoon I am going to my 2nd graders class to talk about after-school safety and tonight my folks are coming over for dinner. Somewhere in the mix I need to get in a shower and make some meatballs.

Not at the same time I hope. :D
I was thinking the same thing , then I thought about it and it make sense. If you're a messy cook and you have a telephone shower the cleanup would be way easier.

If you're answering texts/emails from work then you're not off. Hubby does this all the time and it irritates the heck out of me.
If he's going to do that then why bother "taking off" work? you're still working o_O

Unless I am officially on paid time off, medical leave, or special assignment I am on call 24/7/365. Answering text and emails saves me from getting called in.

Recipe for that relish, please.
Set up all my fodder trays on the outdoor shelfing I put up. Gardener that took care of the school came by for his final pmt and took 4 bantam roosters I didn't want. Too small for me to bother butchering, but he doesn't mind. Getting ready to make our own pizzas and watch a movie.

Those look great! I have seen those before. The opening makes them usable for many things.

Now if I can just keep my political ,conspiring tin hat opinions to myself maybe just maybe I can make some friends. Even Mr isolation aka hubby enjoyed himself. They ask him to bring his guitar and play some music. They have a keyboard there for those who like to play music.
Of course not sure what kind of music they like.

Yesterday we did two loads of washing and hung it on the clothes line to dry. DH used the grey water pumped from the tank to water potted fruit trees, some herbs and some of the back yard. I set off the drip irrigation system to water in the silverbeet, lettuce and beetroot seeds we planted for a short time.

I deep cleaned the bathrooms and toilet for the week and DH vacuumed the whole house. We are having dust storms here and high winds so it feels crunchy underfoot already . Friends we know are in the way of a bush fire about 45 mins away from us as the crow flies but 1.5 hours drive away. I texted them and they were fine last night and had evacuated their elderly mother to their home and have no power and other friends as of last night were out of harms way but with the high gale force winds anything is possible and I don't think the fire fighters will be able to contain it and a few houses have been lost already.

This morning DH has taken the washing off the clothes line and is currently doing the church newsletter for the month. I am just catching up with information on the net and will try and contact our friend who is near the bush fires to see if they are ok.

@Sewingcreations15 hope your friend stay safe. Fires are scary.
@MoBookworm1957 That last post cracked me up. Cat 3 eh? Heehee. I suppose it's better than being a bump on a log.

Preparing for yard sale tomorrow and Sunday. Big prayers it all sells and the weather holds.

@Haertig You should learn the Lizst piece. I know it's personal preference, but all pianists like/learn Chopin. I like Franz better. It's a kinder flow - if that makes any sort of sense. Just my opinion- you should really play whatever your heart feels drawn to. I always said if I were to play the piano, I would learn "Great Balls of Fire." Certainly not as elegant but would be a hoot to play. (I'm told ragtime is most difficult.)

Liszt is almost impossible to play by mere mortals. Alas, I am not one of the piano gods who can do it. The piece I'm doing above is actually written by Franz Schubert, and then Liszt transcribed it. Which makes it difficult enough. But it's one of the easier ones with Liszt's name on it. He was quite the ladies man and showoff when he performed.

Here's one of his that I always wanted to play, but I am not good enough. It's weird high tech video, but it shows you how Liszt knew the keyboard so well that he could manage to get his hands to the right places to hit the notes at just the last millisecond by crossing over/under with the far hand.
