Took the kids to the craziest eye glasses place a few weeks ago, a local place (Stanton Optical) that our new eye insurance is telling us to use. So exams for the both of them. They made granddaughters glasses on sight. Grandsons had to be sent out, he has a right eye serious issue. Granddaughter couldn't see out of the glasses they made for her. They told her to wear them for a few days and adjust. And if they didn't adjust, they would redo them to her old RX. Told me they would call when his was ready, and they didn't, so I called them. So we went in today to tell them granddaughter can't see out of her glasses, and to pick up grandsons. His left eye vision with the glasses was blurry. Said they didn't tell me they would redo granddaughters glasses. Lying Liars.
I threw a persistent fit. They told me to go back to the dr they had last year, under our old plan and get their rx's. I told them no. Do it right. They already billed our insurance. Turns out the dr would be out for 3 weeks. They put a "dial up" distance optometrist on speaker phone and redid their eye exams. Redid granddaughter's glasses and she can see out of them. Had plus 75 on last prescription, but they made them for minus 25. Grandson's were different, too, and now are being sent out again. Two hours there. Fuming. They said they will call in 7 to 10 days when his come in. They truly expected me to accept the bad glasses and leave.
I guess this should of been in the rant section.
Re: egg laying...ours are slowing down, too, Terri. Usually a few dozen plus each day, but picked up 14 today. Romanian guy who buys our extras will be sad on Friday. I'll have the kids help put on the really huge tarping on the duck and turkey runs tomorrow.

I watch the New Mexico Poultry Swap on husband's facebook acct and everyone takes their flocks down this time of year because of egg production and cold coming. Not much fun to deal with your birds when it's 30 degrees at noon. I wouldn't want to set up birds either in the cold. Hopefully finishing the tarping this afternoon. It'll look like tarp city, but it works pretty well to tarp top and 3 sides of the big chain link runs. Our own version of a tent city. Ha.
Grocery shopping today. I see chicken thighs are 67 cents a lb, and Kroger 5 lb hamburger roll is just under $10. I have a $1.50 coupon off that, too.

Well the wife told me that today is my birthday...ok....just another day.
I get to choose any place I want to have lunch ..then do..whatever I want.
I'm thinking Red Lobster..endless shrimp $15.

Maybe a few car dealers, she better bring her embroidering stuff .

Who knows , I may even get frisky later on.

Hey I'm in good company ...Ivanka and I were born the same day.

Once we are done moving and get rid of the house I'm going to have to start going up that way to shop. The prices down south are never that cheap.

Yesterday we set off the grey water for the lawns and watered all the plants and vegetable gardens.

Then went down to the RSL club and gave it a good clean after the bingo. I tell you most people have no idea how to keep things tidy or flush toilets either it was a bit of a disaster zone. Now it sparkles and the museum display cases are all cleaned too. We played a couple of games of pool while we were waiting for the floors to dry so we could put the bar stools back in place.

Came home and sorted out a shopping list and a to do list for today and tomorrow. Heading into town today to help dress our dear friend who passed away while DH goes to the doctors and picks up some plumbing stuff.

They have sold our neighbour's home and rumour had it that our water was connected to their tap across the paddock so DH yesterday dug it up and hit the elbow on it so it started spouting water. We can understand why they thought it was our water as it has two pipes coming into the connection but they have blocked off our side. DH found out who's water it was by turning off our mains and it was still running so went and turned off next doors and it stopped which is proof positive it is running off next doors water and not ours, yippee. We had to make sure though as we all pay for our water according to how much we use.

You're going to have to build an indoor range.
lightbulb
You've got the space for it. :D:dancing:

I almost got her to let me build a pavilion on a concrete slab , 12'x30' ft with at least 2 concrete shooting tables.

I didn't move on it quick enough...she backed out on me.
I was getting the guys to help me ...
Took too long.

Never happened. :(

That would have been awesome!

Been in to town and we dressed our friend and she looked beautiful when we finished. One friend had never seen a deceased person and was peaking out so I coupled with her to dress our friend from one side and gave her a big hug when we finished. Dh had a doctors appointment and picked up his medication and plumbing parts for next doors water line and came and picked me up from another friends home. Turns out the hospital who had DH's referral for the neurosurgeon has lost the doctors referral 3 times and it has been sent through again today  .

We got home and each stain removed some clothing, put on a load of washing each and hung it on the clothes line to dry. I set off the grey water to water another quarter of the front lawns with while DH watered all the potted plants and herbs. He then went over and put the parts in to fix the tap next door and will wait until tomorrow to fill in the hole as there is water in there to make sure there are no more leaks.

Tonight's dinner was spam and egg burgers with lots of seasoning and a bit of ice-cream for dessert.

Happy Halloween!

My day is going to be pretty normal until 4pm when I am taking the younger kids to a trick or treating event downtown and then to a local nursing home. We will return home for a very quick dinner before they hit the local neighborhood with their mom for more trick or treating and I man the front door of our home handing out treats. This is a big deal for my kids who will get WAY more sugar in the coming week than they normally do. They will also trade about 75-80% of their candy to their dentist who will give them small toys, fun pencils, coupons, etc. instead. The dental officer then in turn donates the candy to Soldiers Angels, a charity that sends the candy to military personnel deployed overseas and also to VA hospitals here in the US.

Happy Belated Birthday, @phideaux !!!

Started out making a spoon bread for a funeral I will be attending in a couple of hours. Then to TSC as the cashier has a coupon for a new dog food we are trying (for the base) for free. On to Kroger for sale items and home. It's cold and wet here. We hit our high at about 1 AM!

First ,
Thanks to all for birthday wishes.
Had a good day.

Today when wife gets home from ladies Bible study at church, we will drive 45-60 minutes for those great Chicago Hot dogs for lunch.

We will stop at Dealership and make appt for service next week in the same town.

Please pray that we dont do any parking lot duty today:D.

Ha! Temperature in the house went from 63 to 69 in less than an hour, now I close the air and it will stay there .....and....not burn wood.:)

Chores all morning and a quick trip to the post office and feed store. Emptied the dehydrator of slice tomatoes, and filled it again with tomatoes and bell pepper. Saving the seeds. Trying tomato seeds on waxed paper. Any ideas anyone? If I put them on paper towel, then I end up planting the paper towel.
Brought in my potted lavender, should of done it yesterday. Last night was very cold at 18 degrees. Animal chores and defrosting water was not fun at all this morning. Three loads laundry done and hung (indoors).
Twins are 14, so they are doing reverse trick or treating tonight to our elderly neighbors. They made treat bags to bring to them. We have candy to give out at the house, but very seldom do we get anyone. I suspect the twins will eat supper, watch a somewhat scary show, eat the candy I bought and go to bed.

So I took 3 kids downtown and to the nursing home trick or treating for about 75 minutes. We filled up a one gallon zip lock bag and 1/2 of a second one. Now they are our prowling the neighborhood as I hand out candy. So far we have only had about 4 kids but that number will surely grow as it gets darker.

I had to go into town today to get a microwave oven. I took my wife so she could approve it. We also picked up three bags of potting soil and a dancing Mickey Mouse stuffed toy.
Well the toy cost $25 and I saved over $100 on the microwave so I didn't fail completely.
