I lived there for several years and loved it. When the housing went bust back in the 80's I moved there for work. I had my Journeyman Machinist papers so I found plenty of work. But I liked working outside!

Hello everyone and I hope your day has been good :) .

We reached 36 oc here today so too hot to do much of anything until late this afternoon but I did manage to get on a load of washing and hang it out on the clothes line. Our collapsible tank zip had come adrift on one rain water tank from the frame so DH with his leather awl and thick waxed thread has sewn a quarter back together before it got dark. While he was doing that I planted a 4.5mt row of turnip seeds and watered them in with rain water and then turned the drip irrigation systems on and off to water the front and back yard vegetable gardens.

About to fold up two loads of washing and strip and remake the bed with clean sheets and then have nice cool showers. Tonight's tea was the other half of our homemade pizza and tinned pears with some ice-cream.

@MoBookworm1957 well done on the weight loss and I do agree it is harder to keep weight off after we are a certain age as our metabolisms slow down. Keep up the great work :D .

Personally I have always had the opposite problem and fought hard to try and keep the weight on but now I am getting older it seems to be putting me finally at the correct height weight ratio.
Thank you

What a wonderful day it's been! Blue sky, 65°,light Southerly wind. This morning I completed insulating the pump house after installing the water treatment equipment. Last fall while clearing the place to build,we built several brush piles out in the woods. Today we drug several of them to the yard and burned them as we brought them out. By dark we had a good bed of coals sooo......

Love the toilet paper holder.

Repackaged fruit I should have done up in the summer.
But was busy becoming a Granny.
Had to thaw out 5 gallon bucket of blueberries to place 2 cups to quart bags.
Sucked air out, back in chest freezer. So glad for Food Saver for this.
While in chest freezer updated main inventory lists so I know what I have on stock.
2 cup bags of fruit is good for miniature pies, cobblers, smoothies.
Just me here now.
Still need to process Cherries, but tired now, so going to rest for a while.
Got enough blueberries to fill 2 dishpans in chest freezer.
Took all the meat(last of meat bundle) put that in refrig freezer.
Will have to order another meat bundle in April.
My meat bundle lasts about 3 months. Sometimes longer.
Meat bundle costs about $75.75 divided by 3 comes out to about $25.25 monthly.
So I save for the months until the next order.
Been saving TP and Paper towels rolls, putting gauze on bottom to hold dirt in.
Starting Spinach, mixed lettuce, radishes, green onions in those this week.
Have to get whiskey barrel out of closet for potatoes, carrots to start them this week too.
Reworking garden plans, going to be putting in more raised beds, reconfigure the ones I already have too.

Love the toilet paper holder.
Hahahaaahahaha! I couldn't figure out what you were talking about! That's marshmallows roasting on a stick. I forget that a lot of people weren't raised and live like me.
(Sorry I laughed, but it was funny)

Early this morning in Arkansas. It was raining and my driver side wiper stoped wiping. Passenger side still worked. Oops. Well got some rainex and it worked amazing. Stoped at a truck dealer got the wiper transmission. Now I'm waiting to get truck fixed.

I went to the big town for shopping and errands. Dad needed wiper blades so I took his truck. I just bought him a set last summer. New blades were $42! He wanted me to get him some new rubber boots too. His old ones got a hole in them. He wanted boots that didn’t weigh as much. He said “these are too heavy and make me stumble sometimes”. I was looking at him thinking. “You stumble because your 84 years old!” “Your boots have nothing to do with it!” Too funny…

Traffic was horrible in town, drizzling rain, stores were worse. The last stop was a market just out of town. All I needed was a loaf of French bread. There was a young couple in the checkout line ahead of me. They divided their food into 3 groups and then stood arguing about which credit cards to use to pay for which group. They had fresh shrimp, king crab legs, some kind of fancy bottled water... Jeeez!o_O

I was exhausted when I got home with a bad headache. I stopped at the end of my driveway and picked/chewed a monarda leaf, headache was gone in about 10 minutes. Still tired though… :(

You mean, you liked working outside but couldn't in TX cuz it was too hot for ya? I know. It's awful. But right now it's 35!

Update. Finally fixed and played for. Going to bed.

At that time, Texas was starving for machinists. A company offered to move me and family, put us in a hotel for up to a month, and a very good salary. I couldn't refuse!

Hello everyone and hope you all have a wonderful Sunday :D .

Not a lot going on here as it is a day of rest for us but we did go to a special conference with our church around Brisbane today which was lovely and spiritually uplifting. We never normally buy fuel or anything today but saw fuel for $1.159 a litre on our way back and topped up the fuel tank in the car as it saved us 0.22c per litre over what we can buy it here for in our little country town.

Got home safely and it is really muggy and hot here now after a brief shower of 0.6mm of rain, boy I wish it would just bucket down and water everything.

We watched a story on TV about a huge candy store and Benny told the story of his sister, Doris Ann....Nanny bought her a big chocolate bunny. No one could touch it, she protected it all the time. When they went to church, she put the chocolate rabbit in the refrigerator. In the meantime, Uncle Rube came to visit in their absence. Uncle Rube ate the head off the chocolate rabbit. She was really upset when she came home from church with the family, but she was generous, she broke the rest up and every one got to sample the rabbit...LOL...and then we switched to Uncle Ted. How I loved him, he was so special. He made the sweetest wine. He dehydrated rabbit and it was pink...LOL...and if you were not home when he came to visit, he would leave a chair sitting on top of the table or the bed...You knew he had come for a visit..Oh, those Callaway boys...you can never forget them.

Easy day today.
Just working on dishes, laundry, cooking lunch and dinner.
Visiting with my parents.
Might have Estelle for a couple hours today.
So mom and big sister(12) can go do something fun.
Working on baby shower quilt for newest great nephew.
Got invitation yesterday, shower is the 18 th of Feb.2018.
Go figure.

Bring me home a refrigerator magnet of an AK47. That's the only way I'll ever have one! Ha!

(Or a Ruger .44mag!)
@gumpy even with the restrictions you have, you have way more freedom in terms of firearms than we do. I am liscenced for restricted and non restricted firearms but carrying a handgun is out, you can basically transport to and from the range. Long gone are the days of my youth where you could leave your rifles and shotguns in the pickup when you went to #school because you hunted before or after class. I guess I have firearm envy

I got a new pair of wiper blade recently. I paid around $50 for them. the price was shocking, but they work better than any other blades I have ever had. The auto parts guy put them on in probably half a minute. It would have probably take me ten to fifteen minutes, and I might have broken something in the process.

Had to shoot a coyote today. We have had one around the place that we would see quite often(I posted a pic of it a few days ago). Today I decided to go for a walk and found the coyote about 75 or 100 yards from the house. Someone had shot it through the hind quarters and it could just barely drag itself with its front legs. I put it out of its misery. I have no problem with people shooting coyotes but no one should let any creature suffer (except possibly humans in special circumstances). I believe someone was driving past and stopped on the road and shot this coyote out the window (most likely scenario). Not a big deal but they had to know that they only wounded it and should have finished the job and picked up the coyote.

Both Godsons came over and dug out bushes and cleaned up the back yard. I went to town for a man a cure and met them for Chinese Food. (I Paid). The Owner(Gorgeous China Doll, whose husband passed away a year and a half ago), came over to talk with me, very limited English, shes only been here 2 years. She told my Waitress(Good Friend BTW) in Mandarin to ask me why I haven't been around for weeks. The Owner always Touches my Youngest Godson on the shoulder and smiles while talking to me. My Oldest GS has never seen her before. You should have seen the look on his face. I leaned over and whispered "Be Careful Of Beautiful Oriental Women, Ms Chen Warned Me". He smiled and said "Conan Says, Trust No Man and No Woman, Then He Pointed To His Sword And Said, This Is All I Trust" we Laughed. Its been a Good Day, Back at it in the Morning.
