Me and my big mouth.

I said that vanity cabinet would look much better if it was white.

Now she has got to buy some white cabinet paint.

Take doors off , pull all the drawers ,empty them and paint everything

You understand , this is MY. bathroom.

Oh crap , now all new door and drawer knobs.

Jim :confused2:
Now that you mentioned it...the remodeled bathroom makes the hallway look dated...

Last few weeks have been crazy. Best friend hasn't been paid in 6 weeks now. When his employer roped him back in to work, his unemployment got completely cut off despite the fact that he was only given a few hours so he still needed the unemployment as backup. Then he got sent home for quarantine & didn't get unemployment restored & didn't get his paycheck for the week he worked. Went back to work for another week, was exposed again, sent home to be tested & quarantine & now the place has shut down again & they still haven't paid him & unemployment won't get back to him. His food stamps were late & the prices of food went up so they couldn't afford groceries to cook. So I took his fiance to the store & let her pick out some meat, bread, rice, beans, etc to cook with & bought it for them.
Been staying home mostly other than running the friend's fiance to doctor's appointments.
Had not planned on going anywhere yesterday but Mom wanted to go to the last day of the sale for a late friend's furniture store before it closed permanently. The old man died of cancer recently (died 6 weeks after biopsy). His wife had previously passed from cancer a couple years back. I worry about their kids. The daughter has already had cancer twice. It was good to see them (the kids all grown up) except 1 has Covid so he had to stay in quarantine.
Mom got a lift recliner for cheap & wanted to buy a tall wooden chair but the girl said "Oh, Miss Suzie, you can have that for free!" It was only $10 but Mom insisted on paying for it anyway.
My best friend tested negative for Covid again but he's sick- probably some stomach bug from what he described.
The casino shut down again due to Covid outbreaks among employees.
Mom finally went into the front room to see the kittens & liked how large their condo is. She stopped to play with them when we were leaving and when we got back. My brother & I had "fun" bringing in the recliner. It wasn't as heavy as I expected. My brother didn't think I was going to be able to lift it on my end. My painkillers were working though so my back wasn't screaming at me & I was able to do it.
Got woken up by cat wanting cuddles at 3am.

One of my sons is here visiting over the long weekend. He brought a gun with issues for me to work on for him. It is a Marlin revolver that is maybe 135 years old or so. I had no original parts on hand! It was missing the hand spring which I made with no problem and now that part works fine. But the locking bolt was broken and it is a complicated part and half was missing so making one would be somewhat trial-and-error. I did not have time this weekend to do it. He will not be shooting it anyway so its fine.
We went hiking a couple times and we mostly all just hung together. He's leaving this morning:( to go home.

Breakfast eaten. Teeth brushed, shaved and face washed. Bed made. Dressed in dress slacks and shirt. Typing on the computer until 9:45 until our church's Youtube service becomes "live". After the service we will drive to the restaurant of the wife's choosing.

Then home to change clothes, gather eggs, check to see if the chipmunk that's undermining my shop's floor has taken the bait to die. Watch a western on TV while I do Youtube search and nap.

I'm going to have to try and secure the duck/goose building today. Something got in last night and attacked at least 1 goose. I thought something has been messing around there the last few nights. I'm not sure if it got ahold of any others or not and I'm not sure if the 1 will be ok or not,I think it will but not positive.

Guess what I got to do today....
Yep , put 3 coats of white paint on a bathroom vanity.

Still got 5 drawers and 2 doors to do.

I hate to paint.
At least it's inside work.

@MoBookworm1957 , can I ask you if your feet and legs are sore to touch?

I am really concerned about the swelling.
That would be a yes Jim.
Especially later in the day.
I have an appointment to see cardiologist on the 3rd of August 2020 at 1300 hours.
Surgeon, and Hematologist are concerned also.

Strawberry and I have walked this morning really early.
Made lunch hobo packets.
They were good, thought I made enough for 3 meals.
Nope made enough for today only.
What's in them is in What's for dinner thread.
Been reading forums, working on cross stitch quilt blocks.
Not much going on yet today.
Got telephone call from grand daughter, she needs to hold me.
Told her to tell daddy to bring her on over.
We'll cook something together.
We have to pick some tomatoes today, so she can tell her big sister she worked in the garden with Granny.
She told big sister last week, she's no baby.
Uncle Fred is having baby, she's a big little girl cause Granny said so.
Maybe will try biscuits again.
Lordy, I hope flour doesn't end back up on top of refrig.
I'm not supposed to be on ladder yet.

My feet used to bother me really bad every summer. Thought it was because of injuries years before. Maybe it was my heart then? They're fine now.
Growing up and ageing process, it's not for sissies.
@MoBookworm1957 I hope you have a great day with big girl. Put feet up when you can.
Thanks Patchouli,
We have to rest periodically, so I can do just that.
We sit in my recliner with my feet and legs elevated.
Big little girl is on my left side, Strawberry is on my right side.
They're both covered up with blanket Granny is crocheting for Christmas.
Both are snoring in just a few minutes with cuddles from Granny.
I honestly thought it was due to humidity, but guess not now.
Will wait to see what cardiologist says on the 3rd.

Until then,
Stop or at least try to eliminate salt/sodium from you diet.

I'm not a doctor, but my best friend is a trauma surgeon, and over the past 40 years around him I've picked up on some physiology.

Try it for a while just to see if the swelling gets better.

Jim

Ended up making a cake yesterday which turned out very good. Made the Candied jalapenos today. 9 pounds of jalapenos only made 4 pints of Candied jals. Saved some for mango jalapeno jam tomorrow and some for grilled poppers Tuesday. I had 13 pounds altogether. I also canned some of the jal. syrup for basting whatever I want. Did video this morning and then went to Church service. Picked some tomatoes and put some that were on window sill in freezer bags. Set up DH's meds for 2 weeks and still have to set up my vitamins for the month.

I don't normally eat salt.
Don't like the taste or texture.
Only buy low sodium or no sodium canned vegetables.
Or eat fresh vegetables.
Only time I crave salt is when my iron count is really low.

We watched church service online. DH is having hip replacement surgery Tuesday. He was busy mowing and weed eating yard. I was inside cleaning house, washing bedding, washing rugs. I got everything done but the den. I saved it for tomorrow. I spend a hour in She Shed working on a diamond painting project. It is very relaxing.

My physician once told me that some people are sensitive to salt (increases blood pressure, etc.) and some aren't. He said if you aren't one of the sensitive ones, then it's pretty harmless for you. I tried using more salt, as a test, and found that I'm not sensitive. But I didn't care for the salt (I much prefer pepper!), so I cut the salt back again. For most of my life I've never added salt to anything, but not been particularly concerned about salt content that's already in foods. Some things are just gross with the amount of salt put in them. Potato chips are one such thing. I usually buy the lower salt version. And for things like nuts, I buy unsalted.

However, recently I have found that all salt is not equal. The standard Morton's Iodized Salt that most of use have had around the house since childhood is quite tasteless. It's just salty. Very easy to give that up. But other salts do indeed taste much better. I had some coarse ground Kosher salt that I bought for cleaning my cast iron skillet (it works very well for that!) I tried adding some of the Kosher salt to steak before grilling, along with fresh ground pepper, and wow, did that come out good. I have also had good results with Sea Salt and Himalayan Salt (all coarse ground). It may be he grind I prefer, not necessarily the type of salt. So I've begun using these more than in years past. Fresh coarse ground salt and pepper on eggs is good. But I am one of the lucky non-sensitive people, and my physician gave me the go-ahead if I wanted to use salt. I still prefer pepper by a wide margin, but I am no longer anti-salt. It does add to some things. There are a few things that call out for coarse salt to me. Brocolli. Brussel sprouts. Fresh sliced tomato. Eggs. When I think about it, I guess those are the only things, nothing else comes to mind right now. Oh yeah - and grilled steaks! Oops, how could I forget corn on the cob (that needs butter and pepper too!)

I don't use pepper on corn on the cob... I've been to more shrimp or crawfish boils than I can count in my life... Old Bay seasoning is sprinkled on everything on such occasions. Now I use Old Bay with corn on the cob whether or not I have shrimp.

Been quiet here this weekend, every time I look outside it's either raining or about to. I've got some in door cleaning done... laundry and such.

Today we had planned to go firewood cutting but it never warmed up so we did housework instead.

We both put on two loads of washing and hung them on the clothesline to dry. DH washed the dishes and cleaned the benches and I dried the dishes and put them away. Went down to the lean-to shed and brought up another large wheelbarrow of firewood up to the home ready to burn in the slow combustion fireplace.

Decided as there were lower home mortgage interest rates out there to ring up our bank and go to battle to get a lower interest rate on our variable home loan and got confirmation that our interest rate was reduced by .13 % saving us $6 a month in repayments and no doubt more on monthly loan interest they charge. Not huge but a saving is a saving.

We are still paying way more than our minimum home loan repayment so we are fine financially but trying to cut expenses where we can in this difficult time where grocery prices are going up constantly due to drought, previous floods and now covid.

Spent part of the afternoon reading up on the depression and signs thereof leading up to one and historical evidence from 1930 on bank closures etc (3 went down in Australia). Had a discussion with DH on withdrawing our savings from the bank and when to do it.

Got a phone call from the gentleman buying our trees and he will be here in 3 weeks and pay cash for them so more money coming in there.

Relaxing now and staying warm in front of the fire.

Salt makes your body retain fluid.

Remember salt tablets in summer heat ,t help not dehydrate.

Problem....congestive heart failure is your body retaining too much fluid.
Don't want to help it with salt in any form.

The fluid retention usually shows up in feet and legs first , then in the sack around the heart, making the heart work harder . That's why doctors either ask if you have swelling in feet, or they check your feet for swelling .

I been on salt free diet for years ,plus meds to help eliminate the fluid. Another words , go piss every 30 minutes.

Your right that it doesn't cause BP increase in some (few) but will in most.

Jim

I stayed outside for awhile last night to see if the coon would come back. A half hour later he did but I didn't get a shot. A couple of hours later I went back out and saw 1 in a tree beside the building so I let the 12 gauge do it's thing. I'm not sure if it was the one that got in or not but I'd say it is. I've got a live trap ordered so when I get it I'll see if there's any more.

Strawberry and I have walked this morning early.
Then Strawberry walked with dog walker for an hour too this morning.
Sorted laundry, will do it up early after morning walk with Strawberry.
Have to go see vampires in the morning.
They want another 15 tubes of blood, it's nice to want.
No more coffee today until late evening.
Have to drink water so they can least get 6 tubes of blood.
I broke my glass gallon jar, that I make sun tea in this morning.
Only had that jar about 5 years. Bummer, double darn drats.
Working on whale quilt block.
Sorry guys just not crazy about salt, or sugar.
Love fresh ground coarse pepper.
Not so much on salt though.
Even my butter is unsalted.
My feet are still swollen.
But the swelling in my ankles might have gone down a bit.
I normally wear size 4(kid's shoe) but today I am wearing a size 6.5 ladies shoe.
But that beats those boats I wore this weekend size 8.
