Thanks for the vid

Hope your dad is home now Lady Locust! And glad your wife is improving at her own rate, Jim!

Walmart at 7 am this morning for milk, eggs, fruit and veggies and batteries.
Then home and did my walk, fed dogs and did their out of the fence walk.
Made sweet potato treats for dogs with sweets grown in my garden. That's a first!
I just picked the rest of the elderberries off my bush and froze them. Tomorrow will be elderberry jelly.
Will run to local grocery for cukes and corn which are on sale. Will make corn cob jelly in a couple of days.

Yesterday my church friends brought baked ham , potatoes, green beans, baked macaroni casserole and chocolate cake.

Wife eat more than she has in 2 weeks.
PT was here...did good , slow and easy.

Occupational therapy is coming later today.
I don't know the difference.

Got her up and applied heat 20 minutes, then ice pack 20 minutes.

Got another bucket of peas picked and shelled.
Now I'm going to the shop to make some 4x4 risers for her recliner , to make it easier for her to get up and down.

Then the most enjoyable part of the day...I get to help her get a shower. :ghostly:

Jim

Two songs,'don't worry'not putting them up.:peace:. So glad you have friends whocare, you are blessed.
Happy the wife finally got some good cooking she liked and finally ate.

Finally!!! He's home. I think 17 days since all this started. He said a few times how good it was to be out. He got home, ate something that wasn't pureed hospital food, Mom took clippers to him, and he is asleep in his chair. He has always shaved except for his mustache. They wouldn't let him have his shaving kit nor did they have any accommodations for him to shave with. He was pretty scruffy looking. Mom said he looks better already. I could almost see the stress melting away as we got nearer to home. I've driven quite a few miles in the past 2 days and will probably "get" to be on the road for the next day or two for work.

Cousin's grandson had an accident at work this morning, he works for a fence company. Smashed his index finger and severed a nerve in his thumb. Had surgery on it this afternoon, and on his way home now. Poor guy, he's 19. Grandson got a crewcut at the haircutters today, and little granddaughter (who likes Gomer Pyle) is walking around saying, "Well, Goooolllllyyy". Returned some pants that didn't fit him to Walmart, and picked up more canned stuff. Husband bought a super duper outside scooter with giant wheels. Should be coming tomorrow.

SOme good news LadyL ,glad for the family.:huggs:

Be careful with those bugs. About 15 yr ago I had a sore spot on my head and pulled tic off. By chance lucky I had dr. apt next day.Ask him he looked and said it was perfect bulleyes and lymmput me on strongest antibiotic known. We still get tics but check often. Said no lym in Florida Dr. said thats not true.

This year has been the worst in a very long time for ticks. We normally see very few in our little area. We do have several tick diseases though. Ticks love me for some reason. i don’t return the feelings

Had a range day on Sunday, found a deer tick on my hip on Monday evening. He was a big fella, but he hadn't gotten a good hold yet and I was able to remove him completely (head and all). Left me with the willies the rest of the night.... Don't know which I hate more, snakes or ticks...

ticks and leaches are one of the few things that give me the creeps.

Knowing she is eating is the best way of knowing she is feeling better. Glad to hear it.

Went to the local Walmart (150 miles round trip) for the first time this year. Wife and I expected to really stock up and many things. Ended up with half a cart at around a hundred bucks. They had very little we wanted there.
Went to pick up a rifle I had ordered at Sportsman's Warehouse. Rifle was in waiting for me but the FBI put a delay on my background check. That is something new. So I couldn't pick up the rifle. It will mean another 150 miles in a few days.
Wanted a new pair of Rocky leather winter hunting boots (my old ones are shot). None to be found. Bought a pair of Danner boots that I did not like instead (but at least I got something).
Picked up another spare pair of hiking boots too.

Just got Home. Got up early and headed to Costco. It’s snowing outside but 105*. Oh wait that’s big ash from the fires all around us. At least it was pointless to wash the truck before I headed out.
it’s miserable outside.
Time to saddle up and head out to check the cows then get hubby off to work.

How many cows do you have , small enough herd to load up and leave if you had to?

Water pump stopped working Monday evening. Good thing my best friend is a certified electrician. Tuesday morning after he took his fiance to a medical appointment he called me to come get him (his car can't handle my road). I had him look at the wires on the D-Box on the cistern. I was so overheated I forgot to get him to look at the pressure switch on the pump-- which is the main thing I wanted him to look at & was what I suspected was blown. While at his house, he logged in to the plumbingforums to see my thread about my pump woes & found the info about my jet pump (1HP 115/230) - needs 10/2 w/ ground. Went to Tractor Supply to get a new pressure switch just in case. He googled to see which of the 2 options was the correct one (my guess was right). Then we hit the local hardware store to buy the wire. Back out to ye old farm and I gave him my best flashlight to look at the switch. He traced the wires to it first & saw the wires on the ceiling had burned in a spot. Traced it down & saw burned wires leading to the switch. Opened it up and switch was blackened. He swapped it out in probably 110° heat in that metal shed. It took awhile bc it was an awkward place to reach. I need to get a bigger shed. He got everything wired up tight-- he said the wires had been loose & the ground wire hadn't been attached on the D-Box, so he rectified that. Got it all hooked up and tested- worked. I gave him some wet papertowels to wipe the sweat off and cool off a bit & bought him a vanilla milkshake.

My back tooth started acting up so I was planning to call the dentist. Took one of my Tramadols that I managed to save up from not taking them very often, put in a request for a prescription refill on my antibiotics, and then the dentist called me. They asked when I want to come in again and I said asap as I need the tooth yanked. They scheduled me for next Wednesday. I finally forced myself to clean kittens' litterbox- it was a nasty mess bc I put it off for too long. I had to scrub that thing a good 20 minutes. The kittens were ecstatic to have a clean fresh litterbox to desecrate. They didn't wait for me to get it all the way in before they jumped in and started digging. I'm going to need to expand their territory soon. I think they are getting frustrated cooped up in a cage. We do let them out to play a bit and hold them, but I need to figure out something where they can have more space to run where they can't get into anything to break or ruin.

Mom wanted the shepherd's pie (not sure if that is the right term for it since it's not quite the right recipe- but it's hamburger meat, mashed potatoes, and velveeta) so I made that for dinner. It's her favorite meal now.

Am hoping to get more than 3-4 hrs of sleep tonight. Making myself be awake a little longer catching up with y’all.
Z - glad you traced those wired. That’s dangerous!
Amish - hope his hand heals quickly and congrats to granddaughter for getting a job. The job isn’t as important as all the things she’s learning by having it - if that makes sense.
BP - seems they keep throwing adverse news at you. Know you are undeserving of it but also know they must think you a strong leader to keep doing so. I know that seems so wrong- is meant as a compliment.
Jim- hot diggity. Glad she is improving! Don’t like for either of you to be in pain.
DD if you ever said where you are, I’ve now forgotten, but one of my nieces who fights fires was just sent down to AZ and from there not sure.

Chores done. All water buckets and troughs have been flushed to get the ash out of them.
Went to town and got a lot of supplies today. Was up way early but really felt the need to make it happen with all that’s going on. Grabbed another fire extinguisher for the travel trailer (it only had a little one in it) just in case we end up going hunting. We have them in all the vehicles already but with all the fires another one won’t hurt. Spent way more than I had hoped but better to have extra and be prepared. Freezers are topped off again. Only thing they had a limit on was TP and PT.
Really wish the tractor was back. hate not having the ability to make fire breaks.
Decided to buy an anniversary card this year. Just don’t have the energy to make one. Got hubbys anniversary present packaged up and ready for this weekend. Nice to know it’s done and no scrambling.
Pretty much everyone has gone to bed on here so sweet dreams everyone!! Hope y’all have a wonderful Thursday!

Got the email that my Yaesu FT991A has shipped at last! Removing the FT-991, which has developed pains requiring a trip back to the mother ship. The ham shack doesn't have much Ham in it right now, but there are still portable and mobile rigs :). Should be up and running for the Ohio QSO party ( Ohio QSO Party – Sponsored by MRRC ) :D

Fairly busy day, chores, chickens and lawnmower. Got a shipment of goodies on the ups truck. My new vacuum sealer came, only had time to open a box and make sure it was there. My new wallet also came. After I lost & then found my old one last week I realized I was due for a new one. My old one was barely holding together.

So, I shopped the net for a couple of days before deciding on one made by Bull Guard. It’s a quality leather bi-fold with all the current RFID blocking technology built in, on the GSA approved product list (federal standards). Their products were in the top 3 on all the review sites I checked.

I like my new wallet, a bit larger than my old one but a lot more functional. The id sleeves are far easier to access than in my old wallet. I can easily get to my DL, VA id and other licienses. All my plastic is easier to access as well.

Yesterday in town I bought a new shelving unit for my pantry/herb processing room. This meant I finally have to finish re-organizing my herbroom, delayed by 6 months. I cleaned out the unorganized half, got it stacked in my bedroom and the laundry room. I got the shelving unit started, finish it tomorrow. Then I have to figure out a way to get all that gear back in there and still be able to access everything.

Yesterday, finished drilling the holes in the ceiling to do the counter lights...
Decided that the lawn was a week overdue for mowing. Got out the mower and snapped the throtle cable....gaah So, I grabbed some cord, tied the throtle wide open and did the job almost non-stop (cord came loose 3 times).

Talked with one of my hunting buddies, He has a real high end archery rig (way out of my budget) that is top end fast. He noticed the cables are coming apart. It will be 6 weeks before they can get the new cables....... This bow is 1 year old!!! Sure it's super fast, shoots flat as a board, but if you need to change cables every year, what's the point? Add in the 4 digit price tag and I'm like, just give me that 499 average special....

I only have 2 hours left before work. I need to do recycling, trash, and a load of laundry. Took wife to the foot doctor on Tuesday, he trimmed some of the dead off one of her toes, Tuesday night she is like, my foot's bleeding. Her shoe was soaked, the sock was soaked.... I treated the bleeding and then I soaked what I could in hydrogen peroxide to get the stains out, now I am machine washing the socks and her dress (it got it along the hem), have to hand scrub the shoe (at $200 a pop, I not letting it go, just have to clean it real well then dry and polish).

Well, daylight's approaching, have a great day.

Wow, Urban, sounds like doc cut a little too close. Husband is on blood thinners, so if he knocks his arm against something, he tends to bleed. And then there's blood stains. Not fun to get out.
Some chores around here this morning. And then we leave at noon for a pulmonary test and first appt with a pulmonary doctor, and its 45 min away, so expect to be gone all afternoon. The kids need to behave while we're gone, so they have been tasked with working on the inside of two chicken houses. Making sure any holes are sealed, and then putting the chicks all in stocktanks with wire tops and getting them all situated out there, just in the hen houses and not in the actual runs yet. It'll be good to get them out of the upstairs family room.

Today went to a friends father's funeral to support him as his brother was unable to be there due to covid. He was naturally upset but glad his dad was with his mother finally after suffering a long time with dementia. Caught up with a few church friends there and was lovely to see them. Our chapel is not opening up for services until late October due to renovations and they have to repair damage from vandals too.

Afterwards did a bit of shopping and purchased a lot of discounts and used vouchers and rewards dollars to only spend a little.

Got home and put away groceries we had purchased being mainly cold meats in the freezer. Still got a few more things to put away in the morning.

Dinner tonight was chicken garlic kievs and steamed homegrown vegetables.

@UrbanHunter yes approaching spring here but we are still experiencing frosts here and it is cold and windy and we are having a lot of dust storms in the area at the moment due to the drought. We still have a good vegetable garden growing under shade cloth to stop the frosts though.

Hope you end up out here before you retire and your wife's foot heals quickly and you can save the shoes by cleaning them.

@phideaux glad your wife is on the mend and eating better and hope she improves quickly.

@LadyLocust glad to hear your dad is home finally.

@Amish Heart great to hear your granddaughter got the job I am sure she is chuffed.

Good morning! Walked first and fed dogs. Ran to local grocery for cucumbers and dropped off some Orange Fig Jam to a friend.
Next up is to make vegetable soup and then Elderberry Jelly. That's it for my list!

My fitbit died so ordered a different brand and will see how it works.

@LadyLocust , I'm so glad your dad is home and happier!
