Well, I been telling my wife not to overdo it, she felt good yesterday , and was really busy...surgery Wednesday, takes a while to catch up.
Still very little pain, which is great.

But, today she has really felt very bad all day, can't explain just feels like crap.

I told her it's jet lag😬, it usually hits about the second and third day.
So she spent the day in the recliner and be dozing.
Finally I went and picked some food about 4:00, she nibbled it a little.

Glad there's no pain.

I suspect by Sunday she'll start feeling better.

I hope.

Jim

I wonder how many people quietly giggled to themselves when they read that installing the stair tread was only going to take 10 mins?

Nope.
Not even close.
The slots/ rebates were too narrow for the tread and I don't have a lot of tools to do the job of reducing the width of the tread so it'd fit.
Time for some rough and ready bush carpentry.
I used a bow saw to deeply score the tread and then I used a flat headed screw driver and a hammer to chisel it down to depth.
It then took a good 20 mins to hammer the tread completely into the slots/ rebates.
I cheated death by bouncing and jumping on the tread to see if it's let go.
Nope. I'm still alive with no more war wounds or trips to the ED.
I'm going to lay on the couch for a while with a cool drink.
Tank, I think this should be in the "how I saved money today" thread. Think how much you have saved on gym memberships 😂
(Glad you got it in alright.)

Finally got to have the littles (6 yr. old and 2 yr. old) here for several hours. They always say they don't want to go home when it is time. That makes me feel like gold.
It was a beautiful day, I hope I wore them out doing yard work, raking leaves, blowing bubbles, and playing.
Jim, so glad to hear everything went ok at the hospital after the whip you cracked over them finally stung enough. She has put up with a lot for quite a while lately so I can only imagine how antsy she was to get crackin' on being active again.
It is Friday night and this was always date night for us. It would usually end at Lowe's or wally world, or Dairy Queen.

3rd day Jim.My mom did the same thing on her 3rd day. Over did it on day 2 and payed 3rd day. Today, #4 she just walked some and took it easy. Felt much better this evening.

Since it’s Friday the 13th, I bought a lottery ticket today. I figure if God wants me to win, the day doesn’t matter so I might as well have a fun story. I hear you have to play to win and Friday the 13th only happens a few times per year so I can handle that. Also gives me something to look forward to.

My offer on the school was accepted. Now I go broke paying for inspections. Hired an industrial/commercial company for the electrical. The owner has messed around a bit and what he did is unacceptable. I need to understand the main panel board and all its cool dials. Then I need to know how much power goes to the sub
panels and for what. No one seems to know and its a fine way to get tazered. There are four electric furnaces combined with an out door boiler and I need to know whats up with that, and can I get back up some how, that won't break the bank. I also need to know if the smoke detectors and sprinkler system are working or not and if not, are they repairable. As I said there has been some questionable electrical work done.

Accidentally phoned a retired well driller and he knows who drilled the well and might be able to get the specs for me. Says the guy will talk my ear off and I won't need an inspection. Will see what comes of that

Can't get a building inspector; its too far and the logging road scares them. That's OK, I'll pick up some knee pads and a good flash light and go spelunking myself. My brother is coming for a visit and doesn't yet know that the coffee pot is in the attic. I lied and told him I learned how to make it. Not. Monday I try to get septic and Wett inspections arranged.

Congrats, Klem. Now learn to make coffee. We like coffee so much, I know how to make it a bunch of different ways. It's not hard.
Your electrical experience sounds like ours. We had an electrical inspection years ago when we bought this place. Kind of. Recently had electrician out to check the electrical in the outbuildings. We have a fix it list a mile long, but they did finally get the electrical safely going in a two room milkhouse we have. Husband rode around on his scooter outside with the guy and took notes all afternoon long. Made sure he tested everything. The last guy put in alot by himself. The guy before that didn't use electricity. Still, I have to unplug a little fridge to plug in a washing machine. Always fun.

Well I went for my "walk" yesterday and discovered that no one is seeing deer this year. It seems that the area has been hit hard by Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) which usually kills dear within days... The disease apparently hit in August and September and some herds may have lost as much as 90% this year. I normally harvest between 2 and 6 deer that we eat in place of beef. This may set us back for several years....

Perfect....

That's terrible news, Urban.
Going to go to the grand opening of the new thrift store in town. It's opening at the same place as the old thrift store. The old store was menno run and the owner of the building put a Trump sign on the roof so they left. The owner and his wife are now opening the new store in the building that they own. They said it will be more of a boutique. Don't know if that will fly in this community, we'll see.
Had a cousin of mine and his wife go in and get us to go meals from the Amish benefit dinner and auction last night. It was really good, a Thanksgiving type meal. Hundreds of people in that building. But cousin and his wife are immune now...had covid last month, so they can do what they want now.
Probably taking the ladies to the bigger town today to stock up on Aldi butter, which is on sale right now.

Will do a video in a bit and take care of pups.
Already have jars heating and PCs on stove.
Should get 20 to 24 quarts of dog food.
Then need to pick greens
And pull out craft totes from closet, maybe more.
Just making tuna salad sandwiches for dinner.

The kitty is in her new home and out from under the couch where she hid when released. She seems very happy to be indoors which we could not do.

Well, I survived Friday The Thirteenth relatively unscathed...
The worst things that happened to me yesterday were:

I got stuck twice for my blood draw (once in the elbow, and then in the hand when they couldn't get the elbow vein).
I got out-bid on a model kit I want on eBay.

Today is our shopping day, so it's off to the post office, craft shop, hardware and grocery stores.

Last evening just about sundown there was a fender-bender accident at the end of my driveway. No one hurt but both vehicles and to be hauled away. This morning I took a shovel and repaired the edge of my driveway and then filled in the big holes in the ditch. I think someone was more interested in their phone than watching where they were driving. It was a young girl who rear-ended the FedEx van. Pretty girl though :)

That is big news, Urban. So that's how epizootic is spelled. I thought it was a word my grandma made up. Is that just your area, state, or has it spread to most of the nation? I still see a lot of deer around here.
congrats on the property, @ClemKadiddlehopper
@phideaux Remember when the "allowed" numbers used to be higher? I forgot to pick up my prescription recently and went for a day without it. My heart rate went up to 103 but my blood pressure stayed around 119/80. It is for my heart rate that I take the meds not my bp. I try to stay away from restaurant food, it is so high in sodium. Even the frozen meals the offspring like to purchase are extremely high in sodium.
Got two more assignments to finish, was hoping to get it done sooner and take the rest of the weekend off. We'll see.....

I monitored a live stream of the million maga march in DC while staying busy. Lots of foul language to say the least.

I cut up some chip board that will serve as the foundation of the beds in the Ravenclaw room the girls will be setting up this evening. I was faced with a quandary where I would set up the 4X8 sheets to cut them down. My garage is dominated by a comero that is not drivable since the crate engine still needs some plumbing before we can start it up. I eyed up my saw horses but they are buried (we all know that clear horizontal surfaces in a shop acts as a magnet for temporary storage).

But fear not! The trailer for the quad was just the answer. So with the boards cut up I now settle in for some lego sorting until the girls show for tonight's sleep over.

Behave,

Ben

When I was talking with the guy at the Ag Station he indicated that it is in localized pockets and not state wide. It appears that both of my main hunting properties have been hit hard. But after I started looking it up I am seeing reports from several states.

"According to the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study, two serotypes of the EHD virus have been identified in multiple states. EHDV-6 has been identified in New York, as well as DE, GA, IN, KY, MD, NC, PA and WV. EHDV-2 has been identified in IN, KY, MO, MT, NE, NC, ND, TN, VA, and WI."

This looks to me like almost any prime white-tail country could have some exposure....

I guess this is just the year for bad viruses....

We had blue tongue wipe out many of ours. No game for us this year either. We get a beef each year. This year we are also getting a hog.

I think if we were going to get a farm'ed animal for the Freezer it would be lamb. I would need to look up which is leaner... But for us the best time would actually be in March to give the freezer time to get down.

I did the math and if the deer have been hit as hard as it appears, it will take 4 years to rebound to last year's levels.

Grand daughter and her daddy came by this morning bearing gifts.
I have a new coffee pot.
Hence my Christmas gift from son for babysitting my grand daughter this year.
Keriug single serve, my 12 cup coffee pot died last week.
I had been making coffee on the stove top with cheesecloth and ground coffee beans.
It was working for me for the time being.
Feeling better today.
My nose is running away.
Had headache today, but she was cranky and sleepy too.
Strawberry was walked this morning.
She had been outside several times.
Grand daughter and I watched both versions of her favorite movie"How the Grinch Stole Christmas".
At one time both the grand daughter, Strawberry were both snoring while sitting next to Granny in Granny's recliner.
So Granny took a nap too.
But Granny was kinda squished sitting in her recliner.
Wouldn't have it any other way.
Was cleaning my hearing aid today, it has a crack in it.
Dang, will call it in tomorrow.

Good luck on your new home.

I didn't do much of anything today... watched collage football. I should have done a load of laundry but just couldn't get motivated.

This afternoon I ended up disgusted with that youngster again. Sometime while I was having surgery he had a cow killed by coyotes. I heard them yapping Thursday night. I knew by the sound there were at least 30 of them and that something unusual was going on. I called that boy and woke him up that night about 11pm, told him something was up, that he'd better check his cows. He didn't find the cow until this afternoon. He said he couldn't tell if she'd died or exactly what happened...

I ask that boy every month how many cows he is running up here. He doesn't even know how many there are. Dad asked him if that cow he lost might have been having a calf. He didn't know, couldn't tell.

I know exactly how many head of cattle are up here. I know exactly how many/and which ones are about ready to calf. And yes, I saw that cow last week and knew she was due this week. How did I squire this information... I watched the herd for about 10 minutes one day last week.

Every time I try to tell him information he needs but doesn't know, he gets indignant, like I'm being critical...

He lost that cow and calf because he wasn't paying attention. 3 weeks ago he had a calf killed by coyotes, he wasn't paying attention then either. What has he done about these coyotes? Today he sat over in the field with a 30-30 until dark... Alert the newspaper!!! Put it one the radio!!!

Made brat/sausage soup for dinner with the leftover brats. Just a basic beef broth soup with carrots and potatoes. We ate our fill with homemade bread. There were 4 servings left so K put them in single serving containers and in the freezer they went.

Wrote up my list for Costco. Milk is the big one.

K still can't believe how big the new freezer is. I will be ordering extra baskets this week. I figure 4 more so I have some room to move them and still get under them.

Neb, have you considered a platform bed style that doesn't require a boxspring?
Congratulations, Clem!
Tank-Girl, sorry to hear the tread wasn't the right size but it sounds like you got it in. Kinda sounds like something my best friend would do to get it in place. LOL.
Peanut, I hate when people are irresponsible with animals. I'm unhappy about not being able to keep my cows locked in the fields/yard right now bc the hurricane took out my fence & front gate & there's no one in the area that is available right now to fix it-- requires cutting of HUGE trees to fix it. I've been chasing my cows back in the yard when I see them out, but I can't do it 24/7.
Urban, the lamb in the freezer reminded me of a short story Lamb to the Slaughter.
Jim, I hope your wife's bp goes down & that she gets feeling better. Headaches suck & so does high bp. It can be dangerous. Have a friend who's now legally blind bc of a blood pressure spike so high it damaged his eyes. Caused his corneas to separate. He can somewhat see in one eye, but he can no longer drive.
The day was a blur. I'm still feeling exhausted.
It's Sunday, which is trash day. Gonna have to do some cleaning when my back is cooperating so my brother can take the trash bags out. Gonna take a naproxyn to reduce swelling & see if it helps enough for me to clean. I'm awake so I might as well be productive.

Yesterday we had our pre-thanks giving meal with the son.... buttons of venison backstrap cooked with a "french style" mushroom white sauce, brussel sprouts, mashed potato's, and a pumpkin roll for desert. It was a little strange eating at two tables to avoid exposure (son has been out of town, so we need to keep our distance).

I did a little work on the garden (cleaned out dead stuff) and made up 5 gallons of juce for the hydroponics. I was able to make 3 more tubs and transplant the last of my bib lettuce plants into them. I now have a small herb garden in #10 cans (rosemary, thyme, basil, and parsley) growing under the lights. I also planted some more spinach seeds in the garden and in small containers for transplanting into the hydroponics.

Of the 4 large plants that I transplanted from the outside into the house only the peppers that were planted in the #10 can "weed rings" are doing well. The rest are slowly wilting. The peppers are blooming and the fruit is getting large, I think that the #10 can around the root ball let me dig up the whole root without hurting it much and thus the difference in transplant success... (I just dug up the can, and then slipped the can down away from the plant before transplanting, left a large root ball intact)

Today is a range day so I need to gather all my gear for the day....

Have a great day.

Well folks, sorry for not posting much lately, but my mind is elsewhere.

Wife had her 6th back surgery on Wednesday , Thursday was a good day , less back pain , she felt good.we even went out to eat.

Then Friday morning , the bottom fell out , BP went to 170/104.
She was really feeling bad , no eating or drinking , felt like crap all day.

Nurse told her to take a Losartan. Didn't help.
She's got a bad headache ,severe diaharea, looks bad. Checked her skin , some dehydration.

Saturday I called my best friend Doc, he explained what's going on with her whole body, overload of sodium saline and powerful antibiotics during surgery has her electrolytes unbalanced. Got to get her BP down first. Told her to take 2 Lasix. Worry about dehydration next.
Within an hour her BP was down to 110/70.
Headache gone. Very weak, and forced chicken broth for hydration. Very weak , BP still good at bedtime.

Sunday morning , very slight improvement, she ate 2 pieces of toast and jelly.
Drank some water, some broth. Very dizzy when standing. Doc said force more broth for electrolytes.
Doc says if she will drink the broth, and eat bananas for potassium , she'll get better.

Cutting down, tapering off the Percocet.

Doc says if she don't take in liquids now, its ER and IV liquids .She don't want that.

Her back is really much better , if that's any consolation.

Hope today is gonna improve.

Y'all keep praying for her.

I jump in and read posts some, just too occupied to spend much time right now.

Still in our thoughts and prayers Jim.

Yesterday I finished rotating my 100% gas. 55 gallons of brand new treated fuel ready to go, and was only $2.19/gallon. Another station I go to has 100% for 2.69. Also rolled up all my drip tubing and stored it in a metal garbage can with a lid. Wired up the camper battery and put a solar panel on it. Bush hogged the rest of the field. Gonna wait for a good freeze before I do around the edges. Don't want to get into a hornets nest. Mowed the yard maybe for the last time this year.

Jim you guys are staying in my prayers.
