For double pneumonia, at a point I was not gonna make it. Couldn't see a doctor.
My friend gave me Biaxin, prescription cough syrup with decongestant, Mucinex, and the steam vapor for 5 minutes every hour for 8 hrs , then every 2 hrs for 4, then every 4 hrs for 10 minutes.
Next day I felt better in 3 days I was doing good, in 6 days I was almost completely recovered.
He said if I had waited 8 more hours I would have been in ICU on a ventilator.

He also told me that too many people get prescribed the wrong antibiotics for pneumonia that destroys the wrong bacteria and doesn't kill the bad bacteria.

He's been doing it for 55 years.

He's pulled me thru several times.

I'm believe he saved my wife a month ago with his therapy.

Jim

I need it for dry cough from bp dueretic med. I'm filling it up now and turning it on.

Jim, might sound funny (or maybe just fun 😂) but leave the bathroom door open when you shower. It will help your dry air, especially with a wood stove.
And since Ben hasn’t told us to behave for a while, I might go cause some havoc 😇

Evening everyone.
Just pulled the trigger on ordering an all American pressure canner. Hope it’s the right size. Garden planning is in the works already. Going to actually stop being scared of canning this year. I’ve decided. Freezer is great but there’s only so much space and some stuff just doesn’t freeze well for us. Already have 2 water canners ready to go but would like to can stews and things like that so a pressure canner it is.
Several family members are recovering from Covid. All have said it’s been less than the flu and the worst part has been the loss of smell and loss of taste. So far we haven’t gotten it thankfully.
(Cow) Breeding season is getting ready to start so prepping for that and all the delays that come with the lock downs. Want to make sure to have plenty of extra supplies.
After almost 5 months of waiting we finally know why the IRS hasn’t sent our tax refund. The tax lady didn’t fill out a health care form completely. Now it will be months longer for them to get it taken care of. Really frustrating as our bank is closing our locations January and I need to close the account but can’t until the refund is issued because the IRS won’t let you chance where it goes until AFTER they’ve issued the current refund since the information is on the returns. Now the bank is charging us for the account every month because everything is going through our new bank account. I’m so done with these tax people but how do I find a new one in these ridiculous lock downs. Sigh
Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and all of you are recovering from all that ails you.
:huggs:

@Double R I was concerned about my taxes lately. I had to re-do them because of college students at home and their income. I was worried that my health care form wasn't filled out correctly too since my insurance sent me a letter saying how much my insurance was going to cost me per month ($900). Um, no, I'm not paying that. Then this week got another letter with a much much lower cost, still not going to pay that much. I've had so much change in status and income that it put me at a disadvantage. Anyway, I hope you are able to get yours figured out. Hope to get my refund sometime in the next month. Yay. Just in time to turn around and file again for 2020.

Glad to see you're doing better and on here more 😁 Of course, you could be on here a little more if you had a nice comfy recliner to relax in ;)
Thank you, I'm glad to be back more often :). One problem with the new chair, I sat down, raised my feet and took a long afternoon nap :p. It is also cat approved.

I'm glad I haven't had to go to the stores. I'm feeling a little better, but not great. Headache comes and goes throughout the day. At least I have an appetite and don't feel nauseous anymore. Mom wants me to get tested for Covid tomorrow (I meant to go sooner but wasn't feeling well enough to drive). I'll have to call the doctor's office to find out if I can get the test there. I still have a bit of a cough from post-nasal drip and it didn't play nice with my digestive system.

Ben, I like your cardboard mockup. I hope the ducting works out. Wish I could help but I don't know much about ducting. There are probably youtube videos on it though.

Jim, I'm glad to hear your wife's lungs are doing better. I wonder if that humidifier thing would work for my brother. He has to use a nebulizer from time to time and he hates it.

@Neb did you figure out how you were going to run the duct up the blind space? I like your cardboard mock-ups. growing up we had AC added and the return duct ran through 2 closets on the floor. They built a wooden floor over the duct so you could still use all the closet space, I remember vents were on the vertical part facing the door (they also cut matching vents in the door), but the top (now the closet floor) was very sturdy, I would bet it was 3/4" ply with 2X4 framing, went all the way to the door. It was nice because it made it easer to reach the top of the closet.

I took off today, I already made my next to last run for groceries, I have all the freezers full, my storage sheves are full, and the spare bedroom is stacked with can goods waiting to be dated. The only thing left to buy food-wise is some fresh produce.

I need to load up my empty fuel cans and make a run to Lowes followed by a stop at the gas station. That should leave me in a good starting position for the new year.

Yesterday, I received some shelves for the wife's flowers, I expect some shelves on wheels for my remaining plants to arrive today along with my new UPS. I will place 1 online order tomorrow from CostCo, I think they will have TP restocked then.

Well daylight's burning

Well, we are off to hospital.
A postponed stress test for the wife.
Just because her primary care wants her to have it.
I'm not for it.
Doc's not for it .....but here we go.

Hope it don't cause her problems.

We have 2 whole house humidifiers running 24/7.
For $36 bucks the personal vaporizer is worth it. Everybody should have one, especially in winter. Dry lungs lead to pneumonia and other breathing problems.

Later,

Y'all have a good one.

Jim

I have to make the dreaded trip into Anchorage to pick up some parts today. On the plus side, I plan on picking up some fresh tuna and salmon for our New Year’s Eve feast!

Strawberry has been walked.
Part of the sidewalk on my side has been shoveled.
Got cold came back inside.
Have drank a pot of coffee.
Will make more a bit later.
Started a pot of red kidney beans for chili.
Dishes are done.
Just got sweep the floors.
Dust furniture.
Christmas decorations have been put away.
Started crocheting next year's Christmas presents: hats, mittens and scarfs sets.
Leftovers for lunch, maybe supper.
Will be adding some bbq sauce to some of the chunky chicken chunks and drumsticks.
Going to rest for awhile, then get back at the sidewalk out front.
Got to check the mail today.

Update:
Flowers watered, rotated.
Furniture dusted.
Played game with little buddy on Neurologist website.
Dropped my dang phone.
Hopefully got the whistling of hearing aid stopped.
Moved beans from crock pot to pressure cooker/canner for safety.
In case the beans expanded bigger than crock pot.
Didn't want them to blow up.
Strawberry is sitting beside me, wrapped up in quilt snoozing.
So all is right in her world.

The stress test didn't happen.
They canceled her appoint when she tested + covid 2 weeks ago, after tellng her not to cancel.
Idiots.

She got pissed and wouldn't reschedule it an cancelled the echo next week , and told them what a bunch of idiots they are.

So , we stopped by Walmart and grabbed a few things, first time in 5 months , last time forever. Place was packed with idiots.

Grabbed wiper blades for my truck.

Home now.

Completely wasted the morning. Slept in, then fiddle farted around til noon. Taking the car for an oil change this afternoon, before I go to Arizona for work. Then I need to clean everything out so I can fit all my work gear plus 2 people in it. The car will stay out there and I will fly back and forth for 3 months. Not looking forward to only having one vehicle at home, but it is what it is...

Only use distilled water .

Add nothing to it.

Try for 10 minutes , hot as you can.

At least twice a day.

You'll be breathing better and stop coughing in 2-3 days.

I need to not read this thread .....it's making me have anxiety. Is there anyone actually healthy and doing great on here? I am so depressed now :(
Hope everyone feels better

I wrote some letters to friends today ( yes, some people still do that, some older people like my dad don't have computers or Iphones believe it or not)
Made lunch ( lamb , rice and carrot pilaf) , paid bills ( also not online, I refuse), of course took care of the animals , do that every day

Hey @sonya123 , I think that everyone is just having the winter-time bumps in the road, sickness is normal this time of year even if the year is anything but normal. If we are well enough to complain about how it's going, we aren’t doing that bad (Silence is really bad). We are very thankful for the health that we have and we are taking extra steps to stay healthy. I think making everyone change their normal routine has been challenging for us all.

It's a beautiful day out and I am going to take advantage of it.

Stay safe and well

Urban

@sonya123 some of us are okay. Look at Amish, she's going out for ICE CREAM. I went to work today. Chilly here. 40 something, feels like 30 something.
I'm glad you have people to write letters to. I should write one to my m-i-l. Someone sent me a Christmas card this week in her name. I guess she can't write anymore. I called my sister, but she has had poor health for a long time. None of my family is sick. Cheer up. Do you have some newborn lambs to enjoy? That would make me happy. Instead I will look at gardening books from the library and try to stay out of trouble.

I always go out for ice cream!
Kept running into family and people we know everywhere we went today, so it took a long time. I think people were out in town because of the SUNSHINE. But it's still cold.
Hey Sonja123....it's because we're probably older than you. But we still are talking on the forum, and still going out for ice cream, so we'll be ok. Phideaux and his sweetie still go out for lunch. Patch still goes to work. Meers redoing the greenhouse, and Urban just never sleeps I think. It's all good.
