Great news!

I'm sitting on the front porch watching a snow squall pass and appreciating what may be a spectacular sunset.

Met with the dentist that will do the surgery to remove my remaining teeth and do the bone grafts. I will have a conversation with @ThePrincess to decide if I will have temporary dentures or go without teeth for 4 months.

If anyone has been through this and has an opinion, feel free to share your thoughts.

Tomorrow I should working with my brother and build some more walls.

Behave

My dad had to go without any for 10-12 weeks. He got his dentures, then after a few months (I can't remember just how long) he had them redone and now says they are great. He seemed to do fine without them for the couple months but was sure happy to eat a steak. He had all his teeth pulled at once and other health issues (because of his teeth!) so his case was a little more severe than just teeth. Most crunchy things are "snacky" things & most meals chewable which works from a health perspective.
Either way~ good luck.

My uncle bought a place to bust up into lots to sell and build houses. I went out to check it out today and maybe cherry pick a lot or two to build a speck house on. I pretty much walked the whole place and found something really cool no one knew was there. It has a really awesome cellar on it. Extremely well built. I snagged all of the good jars while I was there.

That looks like a 1950 bomb shelter. Vent out the roof. Fixtures in the concrete walls for more shelving.

Thank for sharing!

It was a lot bigger tan any sort of cellar I have ever seen. It was built with a lot newer style construction methods than would have been used in the 50s at least here anyway. I thought it was really cool now I want one like it on my place!

Just a crappy day all around at work. Friday one of the techs I'm looking after ( his supervisor is gone for 2 months) dumped 3 standards (a process calibrator and 2 pressure modules on his workbench and said these don't work. Come to find out he had dumped them in standing water where he was working not once, but 3 times before it crapped out. He wasn't happy today when i told him that due to them being non functioning he was gonna have to redo the 3 calibrations he had used the equipment on. Thats a quality thing we have to do to prove our work was right.
After that another group I'm covering for did some highly safety related calibrations Friday took their modules to get calibrated at our Metrology group. The module failed so I had to run calculations to see how far off that made our work. My numbers were ok, but the facility engineer has to verify since it is safety related. May have to redo everything. Several other problems added to that. To top it off my boss came to the office, shut the door, and I was like OH CRAP WHAT NOW??? He wants us to figure out what our bare minimum critical work is and how we can cover it in the event of a strike, which may happen. All my crews are union and they voted down an 2 year extension last week. Don't blame them at all. The company is wanting to make a bunch of changes to the contract with out renegotiating.
I was glad to head home today.

A Hobbit Hole if I ever saw one.

Ben

Amish, hopefully the shingles will clear up quickly. Speaking of childbirth, I saw a woman in the post office today who was explaining that she gave birth 3 weeks early but her baby was 10lbs 1oz. She said no wonder her back hurt so much and she was so huge during pregnancy.

Jim, glad to hear your kidney functions are improving.

Backpacker, sorry to hear you had such a crappy day. Why the hell would they leave stuff in standing water? Sounds like a bad idea.

Other than going to the post office and getting takeout, I didn't do much but research plumbing stuff. Still trying to do pricing and planning. Hoping the pan my brother messed up can still work, otherwise, I have to get a new one. It's the one I use for making stroganoff and shepherd's pie and he warped it. Well, he didn't flip the switch to cut off the cooktop so the cats walked on the controls and turned it to max sear and ON. Pan was copper colored and not its blackened and warped. Kinda miffed.

My favorite cousin looked at my back and said it looked like shingles, although she's had them twice and hers were worse. Another few weeks and they should be gone, so I hope that's it.
Hey Ben, my mom had her upper teeth pulled (what was left of them) and had denture uppers. She got the dentures put in same day, then went back a few months later for refitting. That was last year, and she needs refitting again. She says now she can't chew because they'll fall out, unless it's a donut, pie, or ice cream.

A lot to unpack in that post.

When working for the secure research lab operated by Bechtel-Bettis for the USNavy, I had to log raw along with scaled measurements in the event a non repeatable test was called into question when a sensor was found to be out of calibration.

Similarly Rocket Center WVA tracked the model and serial of every torque measuring device... Wrenches, screwdrivers, torque watch gage... and their adherence to calibration. If one version of one device failed all associated device of the same ilk was recalled for re-certification.

During the comistioning of a calibration system that spanned 2K ft-lbs to fractional inch ounces there were inconsistencies at the low end of the range were they were using cup cake papers to hold a graduated weight..

The operator pointed out the fluctuations in the measurements. I blew on it and spiked the reading. He said he would double check on Saturday when there aren't any fork lifts running around. Problem solved.

Indulging my story telling side....

Sorry to all for all the details that made no sense. I was wound up last night.

Ben sounds like you know what I'm dealing with. We have standards for pressure, flow, rad, force, and a bunch of others. Our pressure modules have been giving us fits for 4 years now and even the manufacture can't make heads or tails of it. We even purchased 2 other brands in all the ranges we use. They were no better. But the big deal comes to the safety related calibrations. There is very little leeway on those.

Zanni, it was dropped into the water 3 times by accident. Tech was working in a pit that had water in it and only had a small shelf to se things on and kept knocking it off.

I decided to do monthly Walmart yesterday, before the rain started. Supposed to last all day today and cooler now. Only things I noticed low were flour, sugar and different vitamins.

Will do video first.
Make our tax appointment.
Call Cable Company.
Call a friend.
Maybe go through some of the clothes I was gifted.
Watch some tv that I have recorded and haven't gotten to.

My 7.5 gallon propane tank is supposed to get here today.
The ladies in my group have decided to start Sunday School again with or without books, so I have to make up an announcement.
Also need to figure out how to get my predictive text started again for eBay feedbacks. Not sure why it stopped.
