We woke up at 3AM because the dog was barking his head off - not normal. He had done this earlier in the night too, but stopped.

The dogs in these parts were barking dusk 'til dawn Wednesday night. I couldn't get mine to stay silent. Talked to a friend Thursday (12 miles away), her dogs had barked all night. Dad had talked to my niece, same story at her house... odd.

Ran errands related to the garden today, got taters planted. Chilling this evening. Hopefully the dogs stay silent.

That is strange - maybe the no moon? I am at lose. I just want to sleep through the night.

Arm elevated, iced.
Sleeping at drop of hat.
Strawberry's back home.
She's sleeping too.
She would wander from kid beds to kids beds checking on them before she would lay down in hallway.
My son said one morning they couldn't find kids in their beds.
But they soon found them snuggled up on love seat with Strawberry snoozing.
Strawberry's head was on Estelle's lap(grand daughter), front leg was on Mereathia, back leg on Memphis.
Strawberry got to run around barking at squirrels, digging holes, running and playing in the yard.

I hope you heal up quickly and completely @MoBookworm1957 !

Advocate called back and unfortunately my brother made his will in 2016 and had put a younger step brother as his beneficiary for everything. Don't know why he said it was me, but this is the third time that has happened. Do folks think I won't talk to them if I'm not in a will. Can't imagine that. We did the right thing paying for the cremation and I know God knew this would happen, so I will try to let it go and pay the bill off as we can. $1100 to pay is a lot to us, but again God knows that.

I did go for my walk but no roses will be pruned today.
Thank you Snappy.
I'm doing what the doctor said do and not much else.
Doing a lot of sleeping.

SQUIRREL! Where ya been buddy? Hope all is well.

Then a shadow darkened the doorway and a horrible sound drilled into the . . . Oh wait it's just Ben and Bro 😇

...
You are not far off. I have called my baby brother a monster. When The Princess and I dug out the basement in my house he ran the cement mixer while I troweled it out. He would hold an 80 lbs bag of concrete under one arm a rip the bag open with his other hand. It is challenge to keep with someone like that who is 6 years your junior.

I did figure out one thing I can do that he cannot. Slip between studs on 16 inch centers.
;)

Reminds me of working with a helper. I'm a big guy and could lift my end of a 300 lb roll of carpet easy. I would comment, that isn't heavy, my buddy would say, for who? He weighed about 140.

Today is finishing steps to get ready for our predicted "big snowstorm". Supposedly one to two feet coming our way over the weekend. Several days ago made sure all the food stores were topped off. All propane bottles were full. All cars were gassed up. Portable generator was accessible and fuel containers filled.

Today it's finishing up the small steps - making sure all batteries are charged, the Kindle is loaded with a couple dozen eBooks to choose from, and things like that.

Being ready probably means that this predicted deluge of snow will only amount to two inches or so. Alternately, not being ready would guaranty 5 feet.

I am digging a 30 ft trench to add the back up generator. I didn't plan ahead when we had our place built a year ago. I hate digging.
I tell people that I don't have to go to the gym, I do my exercise at the end of a shovel, I have worn more shovels down to double pointed forks and I seem to find all the buried rocks. The hardest dig I've ever done was the 460' ditch to bury the water line from the northwest corner of our property up to the spring collection box, worst case of poison oak I've ever had from rubbing the sides of my legs on the ditch where the roots were sticking out, wore a shovel out on that dig as well.

My father said;

"Xxxxx don't pump iron. We dig dirt."

Woke up at 9am, heard the snow slide off the roof so I took a nap until noon. Making duck soup for the first time. Watching the movie Yes Day.
Watching the snow melt, I am told there was about 9" this morning and now we are down to about 3", so it is soaking good into the ground.
That's a good start so far.

Typical day for me. Went to bank, to Walmart and pharmacy. When I got home I did dishes, checked the tires on my car. Charged the battery on the other car. Made sure my van would start. Built a set of shelves and hung them in the office. Took the dog out 3 times. Put wiper blades on my car. Helped cook, my wife is having back problems. Put cartridges in the printer. Cleaned the shop. Typical day for a retired guy. Oh, worked on a computer too.

Played around with American Steel Carports' design program until I came up with something I liked for a barn. Took some screenshots and had e-mail sent to remind me of what features I chose and to ask for a price quote. (More on that in a different thread I'll be starting soon).

Brother woke me up wanting me to take him to the store to get milk and Anbesol. He's got a bad toothache but even "emergency" dentists aren't opened on the weekend here and there aren't any within 100 miles of us anyway. He has to wait until Monday and see if the local dentist can schedule him soon. Worst case, I can have him call my dentist to see if she can book him soon. They were not answering phones when he called on Friday though. They've said their phone service has been giving them trouble. His tooth broke and it's really hurting him.

Cooked for Mom and napped. Still feeling very tired. I've always been somewhat of a night owl and always had to take naps in the day. My door is broken so I can't keep pets out, but I actually have a harder time sleeping without them. Having a cat curled up against me purring helps lull me to sleep and I feel anxious if I don't have at least one pet with me. Right now one of my cats is clinging to my left arm.

Ben, progress looks good!

I replaced the batteries in my weather station after 4 years. That required me to climb to the top of my 10' ladder and unscrew it to take it down then climb back up to screw it to the eve. I have acrophobia so high places are not something I do. I got it done but it was a challenge.
After that, I did the yearly service on my zero turn mower. Plugs, filters, oil, and sharpened the blades. If you haven't used a grinder with flapper disks to sharpen a blade you should try it. Works well.
Then I pressure washed and detailed the mower and it looks brand new.
I also remembered to drain all the gas out of my snowblower. I have officially declared Winter to be over.
I have a rack of baby back ribs on the pellet smoker.
A good day with great weather.

Took the trailer and got a load of compost. Got back home and started cutting my metal. Cut 18 4' sections into 36 2' sections. Cut 3 10' corner channels into 15 2' sections. Cleaned my mess up. Gonna start cuttin lumber tomorrow and assembling as many beds as i can tomorrow. But gonna load the 1st bed soon as it's done. My asparagus roots came in this week and I want to get them planted.

I need to check out the flapper disk thingy. I need to sharpen my mower blades and the bush hog.

They're cheap at Harbor Freight. I used an 80 grit disk and it only took a couple of minutes. I have a simple balancing device so I can check to make sure the blade won't wobble and ruin a spindle.

Hubby says he prefers the ceramic ones. Says they last longer and do a better job. We buy them by boxes at work. If you're just doing a blade or two might not be a big deal, but thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone wanted to know for other projects.

Sitting in the ER with the kid. Slid off the road, down the hill and through a fence. The good news is that the dump trailer kept us from rolling. The bad news is the dump trailer smashed into the side of my truck and pinned the kids foot between the seat rails and the door.

Yikes! I hope everything turns out OK and the foot/leg injury isn't too bad. The truck is just a thing, and can be replaced. Actually, I think I might have done worse damage than that jack knifing a trailer that I was trying to back up (I am clueless about backing up with trailers, it's not something I do, so stay far far away if you ever see me attempting the feat again - I'm incompetent!)
