I am a parent and a retired mechanic. I have more eyes than most people have fingers. :)

Today was a rain day. Not good for rebuilding an exterior wall. So I worked on the duct work project.
.

Moved a junction box.
Then set about cutting a hole between the two sides of the basement. Thought it would be a matter of cutting a rectangular hole through drywall with maybe a stud to deal with.

It started out that way and then I found wallpaper on top of cardboard on top of of inch thick planks.

It highlights just how cheap wood planks were back then. They were children of the depression and did everything as cheaply as possible but used 1 inch planks that would cost a pretty penny today.

Tomorrow we should be rebuilding the back wall on the remideling project house.

So where would you prefer to grow a thurd eye?

An eye on the of a finger would come in "handy" when trying to plug in a cable on the back of a flat screen mounted on the wall.

And sometimes working on a car, if you could keep grease out of it.

It was raining after I picked up Jake from school so we worked in the shop this evening. I came up with an old set of fishtails that I thought would look great on the 76. I built a set of hangers and Jake pulled the old pipes off and bolted the old new ones on for me.

Could you save that maybe by using a cable, protecting the bark with an old cut tire, right about the middle? would growth around that joint over time make it strong enough? I’m trying that now with a cherry tree, similar issue. Year three, seems to be working. I figured that the tree was a goner anyway with a split if it happened. We have a turnbuckle configured in ours, but that may not be necessary.
I'm a novice with the care of trees but I have been studying.

Tight angles of branches coming off of tree is an issue due to what is called bark inclusion which refers to the situation where the bark of a branch growing agianst the bark of the trunk or another trunk. The bark agianst bark welcomes water and rot. Therein lies the rub.

Rather than the grain of the two branches growing together rot presents a possible failure in a wind storm etc.

Coming up I am planning to take a limb off of a mulberry tree in front of one my rental properties. A large limb threatens the house if it fails. The rot is quite obvious. I will take pictures when I get to that project.

I cannot speak to how your approach will turn out long term. For my part I have far too many trees to care for and I have to address the issues that are possible to fix preemptively.

Keep us updated on your experience.

Always looking to learn.

Hubby drove 350 miles round trip to pick our pig up from the butcher. I fed the cows/chickens, cleaned the chimney, canned up some elk scraps for the dogs, made and canned pizza sauce for the kid, replaced the thermostat on my oven(it works now!!), laundry, picked the kid up off the floor a couple of times, did dishes, made dinner and now I'm sitting on my rump!

Oh, I forgot. I re arranged the freezers to make room for the pig. We have NO more room at the moment.

You have earned your right to be exhausted.

Someone asked how I was doing today. My response was "Going crazy and slightly grey." 😂 I've known her since she was 6 so can say such things.
Am going to try to work from home tomorrow. That's a new goal for Fridays, but the past 3 weeks, it hasn't worked and I've had to either go in or take loads to the powder coater. Obviously getting the job done is more important than my fragmented sanity ;)
Am getting antsy to play in the garden. Also need to get the bike out and ready to roll. Lazy L was it you who got the RV ready to go? I need to do that as well. I'm ready for some down time. I'm peopled out again or still. I'm really not a people person. I don't mean that in a mean way, I just like to be alone too and I don't get much time alone so people wear on me.

Watch that work from home thing. It has turned The Princess into a hermit that once a week comes out during the day to see what the weather is doing.

I can relate to your issue with people. I like them at a distance and limited to my preferences but prefer solitude.

It was good! She left on a 6:30 am flight out. Sweet husband woke up super early to bring her to the airport, then caught a nap later. My sis from Florida comes out Wednesday. She's mostly coming to see mom, but is staying with us. Mom makes everyone mental after a day, so staying with us will be better for her. Daughter took a tour through the sonography area of the hospital, and they said they'd call her when they have an opening. She was talking about moving out here and putting a trailer on our farm. But we'll see what she ends up doing.

The butcher was 175 miles away!?!??

Woke up in middle of the night, boiled water to wash dishes.
Planned and sketched plumbing ideas until brain stopped working.
Slept until after 4:30pm
Missed messages from friend-- was supposed to go to Lowes with him and help him with his yard. Friend understood.
Brother made beef stew bc I washed the pressure cooker (he'd left old food in it for a month)
Stirred the stew and got some for Mom
Took meds and vitamins
Researching products and ideas for a new barn for the cows.
Feeling sleepy so might rack out soon-- will set my alarm this time.

I I suggest you get on a regular schedule.

Ben, I have tried. I was going good for a week but then my mother screwed up my schedule by waking me up in the middle of the night. Every time, without fail, she will wake me up when she knows I have to get up early. I made the mistake of telling her that I was getting up early this morning, so she woke me up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get back to sleep. I don't know if it's subconscious or on purpose. I also have chronic fatigue so I will have days where I have a lot of energy and others where I sleep all day. I once went to sleep Friday night and woke up Sunday morning. It was worse in my 20s. I was having symptoms similar to Klein-Levins syndrome. One of my college professors had a daughter with that condition. I'd seen him on TV for a medical mysteries program about his daughter. So he was very sympathetic to the fatigue issue.

Since Mom woke me up I scrubbed the counters (my brother spilled stuff & never cleaned it up) and scrubbed out the microwave, washed the turntable and it's ring in the sink. Had to wipe counters again to get off muddy cat footprints.

Looked at catalogs for barns and sheds for sale at a place we will pass on the way to Lowes. We plan to stop in. Friend saw a shed in their listings that he said was "perfect".

Now I have less than an hour until my alarm goes off. LOL. One of the reasons I slept in yesterday was bc my friend didn't give me a specific time to come get him so I didn't set an alarm. I have never been good with schedules.

Say, I went through a bunch of stuff in the office and what'da'ya'know - there was a pretty nice desk under that pile :)
We woke up at 3AM because the dog was barking his head off - not normal. He had done this earlier in the night too, but stopped. Figured some critter was meandering through. That second time, hubby went out and got after him. When he came back in said coyotes and fox were yipping & sounded like a thousand of them. I had to make extra coffee, but will probably still need a nap later.

My husband has medical issues and wakes me up a couple of times a night. Last night was only once, so that wasn't too bad. Insist that you stick to a sleep schedule, just allow more time for it. Maybe allow ten hours instead of eight hours, so that means go to bed no later than 10 pm. And get up no later than 8 am.
I'm one of those who does not do well without a sleep schedule. I refuse to nap on purpose, because it will really mess with your schedule, and it will become your schedule. My mom's schedule is crazy. She lives in her own apartment in assisted living and she stays up half the night watching junk on tv, sleeps a couple times a day, eats junk, and refuses to socialize with those around her. I never want to be that. She is missing out on life. And it's not healthy. I've noticed that little granddaughter's good for nothing mom and the twins mom have always been up all night, sleep all day. They don't work, they drink and use drugs. I turn my phone off at night because mom may call or the kid's moms might start texting. That's another thing....turn your phone off, tv off, computers off. Do not keep cats, dogs in your bed that will wake you up to be walked or fed.

Today the back corner of the house was rebuilt.

That finishes off the structural repairs!

There will more carpentry that is associated with revised floor plan. We have a supply of outlet and junction boxes so we can move on to the electrical soon.

Tomorrow I will working with my son to help him figure out what is wrong with a light in one of his bathrooms.

Monday we will back on the remideling.

Then a shadow darkened the doorway and a horrible sound drilled into the . . . Oh wait it's just Ben and Bro 😇

So I was going to go to the dump and give them garbage and pick up a load of compost for the garden crates - not sure what to call them (raised beds?) but - well, you can read about it over in the mechanics thread.
Am doing more cleaning out and sorting. Gorgeous day to clean with doors and windows open for fresh air.
