still baking cookies , on the third and last type now. I just made a half a batch of each so we don't eat SO much sweet stuff. Also baked a sweet potato pie ( that is my personal favorite pie)
Going to take dog for a hike in a little bit here, need to sit and take a break for a bit
Oh, talked to my good friend in Florida, she is currently trying to sell a property she has inherited for over a million $, wow.
Emailed with my best friend in Germany, she doesn't like Christmas because her husband died a few days before Christmas 3 years ago.
Debating if I should call my brother to wish him happy holidays or wait until tomorrow or wait until he calls me. I think I will call tomorrow maybe

Putting my feet up now for a bit. Our dinner tonight is cooking (prime rib, fresh gr beans, corn casserole, baked potato). Needed to start tomorrow's dinner...made the stuffing, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, and 2 chocolate cream pies. Brought up all the pickles olives peppers from the basement, too. A neighbor just popped in while going for a walk and brought some egg cartons and caught up. Son and gf are resting.

Opened the bottle of Kavanagh's Irish Cream. Salesperson in the liquor store talked me into it over Baileys.

It's very good, certainly the equal to Baileys. But it's been a year since I last had Bailey's, so it's hard to compare.

So I'll be cooking dinner buzzed ... the only way to cook!!! 😂

Been down sick again. Hives and fever, no idea what's going on. Better today. Hit a rough patch, Daughter just lost her job. So not a lot of Christmas cheer around here. Just glad she's here with me for a while.
Planning to go to the late service tonight to celebrate Christ's birth. No tree, no presents, but we're together and will concentrate on what's important.

Hopefully the new year will bring good luck and blessings!!💖

I went to the chiropractor today, got my neck and my hip put back where they belong. And I sent kiddo off to his grandpa's so I could wrap presents. Ran a couple errands while I was in town and I'm getting ready for an upcoming trip. Youngest insisted we make Santa some cookies, so this kid is having peanut butter cookies for dinner. 🤷‍♀️ He was looking out the window for Santa a few minutes ago and spotted Starlink flying over... yep kid, thats totally Santa! Pretty magical evening for a 5 year old.

so sorry, glad your coworker helped you out. Can't imagine being stuck miles from home in the middle of the night with broken vehicle. That sucks bad. Hope it can be fixed. We have 4 old vehicles including son's, it could happen to us any time. Drove the yukon to the store yesterday and husband stayed in it and we left it running so we wouldn't be stuck there if it didn't start again . It made it back home
It is a drag..but it could have been worse for sure. It was clear..very little snow on the ground, only a few miles from home and it wasn't storming...
I suppose while it is a bummer..I got lucky because like you said..it can happen anytime and I'm so glad it didn't happen in that canyon.

I'm in bed early..yesterday didn't end untill 4 am today. Then I was up frazzled n bummbed and wasn't able to get organized or productive on a few hours sleep..so I grabbed the pups, loaded them in the truck n went for a long walk to clear my head n let the pups run.
Got stuff together for the dinner party at my buddies down the road. 7 of us tonight. I wasn't really into hanging out alot but I'm glad I went for a few. The food was great ..
Tomorrow I have a few things I want to accomplish but otherwise start a new rug , get the stove going and stay warm.

Everyone still asleep here...we stayed up much too late, so I got the fire started and the coffee made. It's after 7 am...
Even the dog has gone back to sleep on the couch.
We'll open presents and have breakfast and do the animal chores hopefully before noon. Ha. I have a turkey to cook, and we'll eat a bit of an earlier supper with cousins Bob and Wanda coming, too.

Merry Christmas online family!

Been puttering around since 7 when the dog woke me up. Stayed over at dad’s last night. Right now he’s questioning why the fires I build in the wood stove don’t look like the one on the tv Yule Log. LOL

Kim make turkey croquettes. Hoping he has an easy time eating them.

Spent yesterday evening with daughter. It is our tradition to have Christmas eve together for a meal and do our thing. She reminded me that sometimes on Christmas morning she was on a plane to North Dakota and that is part of how this tradition came to be.

Our pho place was closed yesterday. That was such a bummer. There are many places to get pho, but not all of them are gluten free. We have one place we know is good, but it is not close to home. No need to gluten daughter on Christmas. I stopped and got pho at another place, but no guarantees that it is gluten free. I will freeze it in meal sized portions for future meals. We got Chinese food from one of the places where she knows she will not get glutened, but they were so busy and not cheap.

She often goes to the family of a friend on Christmas day and that is what she is doing today. They have a big deal, and she has been close to this family for many years. Good for her.

I have a dog who will be leaving this evening. I plan on doing some cleaning today, getting a start on my New Year thing of going through more closets and cabinets.

The sun just rose over the mountain..it's that glorious yellow hue and the sky is pretty clear at least looking south.
It's really a nice morning ..I fell asleep last night early and slept good, lots of weird dreams but slept good dispite.
I will walk my pups, make rice Kristie treats and elderberry syrup for my neighbors, start a new rug and look for a newer ride.
I absolutely dislike payments and being in any debt. It is such a ball n chain but I need a good ride while I'm still working. I'm tired of stressing about maintaining older vehicles n trying to be a step ahead of whatever is next to break.
I found this little 2 year old Subaru Crosstrek sporty model , still under warranty, 44,000 miles so just broke in really for $26,000.
That's not bad for a awd commuter..Id prefer a newer truck but this is eaiser to afford , cheaper to drive but still good in mud n snow around here.
Unless I find a tempting newer truck..I think I'll go get it Saturday !

I'm really good about paying stuff off early too and with a car I can still get a new riding mower this spring!

I want video of y’all trying to get a full bite of that thing with strawberries 🍓. I envisioned a cartoon piranha 😂

Turkey is in the oven, ham has a couple more hours before going in. Hubby will leave to go get his folks to bring them here and then take them home later. It’s an hour each direction and they are to the point they can’t drive that far. We weren’t going to let them be alone for Christmas. My son was here last night. My folks will also be here today. Dessert at noon and dinner to follow as per tradition 😍
Y’all be merry and blessed 💖

Finally got a minute to make squash soup. Looks like close 7 gal.

Our Christmas dinner will be on the 30th. Our son and DIL work the ER over the holidays because they don't have kids and the others do.
Doing the math, that would be eight 16 ounce servings, times 7 (gallons), 56 meal sized servings for a freezer. Can you can it or will you freeze it?

It depends on the ingredients. I think the canning gods have said no to pureed squash in recent years, but that chunks are okay. 🙄 I don't personally agree with that assessment and I've canned pumpkin butter before. Squash is gonna be a pressure can only food any way you look at it though.

One year we got MIL an apron for Christmas that said, "Life is short. Eat dessert first!"
