The microwave died yesterday evening. The Princess used her backup microwave to get by. About 17 hours later a new replacement unit is in place. Replacing kitchen appliances is not my favorite task. Grease on power cords and behind has me reaching for dishwashing liquid every 30 seconds.

But job done.

"Done" a four letter word I like.

Cleaning out a walk-in closet that had become an open the door and toss it in closet. Why do our children ask us to hold on to their stuff for them?
Also, found a large duffel bag, a decent enough travel backpack and a laptop bag/pack thingy, a sleeping bag I thought I'd thrown away (I'll keep it even though it is not like what others have (-30 below freezing). A box of generational photos and documents, yarn, mushroom stuff (I wonder if it's still any good?), something having to do with 2A, and a telescope that I bought a few years ago that isn't that great. I think I'm missing stuff from it. Why are there random bb's in the bottom of the box?

Just finished working on the new shop building. Decided to check the fuel at the backup generator on my way to the house, empty. So I pumped 55 gallons in to the day tank. That should last a little over 2 weeks this time of year. We had snow flurries all day, with sun and some wind, and cold.

I’ve been replacing the plastic boxes where I store small specialty tools and thumb drives. I got one just after christmas at walley’s that was on sale. I went to the big town next and checked harbor freight and a couple of places for boxes. The best ones I found are made by a company called ‘Plano’. I believe they are located in Chicago. Anyway, walley had them on sale in the fishing tackle section. $5+ for the large size, $4+ for the smaller size. I bought a bunch of them, good for storing all sorts of small objects, tools, crafts, thumb drives etc.

Today I used a dremel tool and cleaned all my small tools, assorted punches, reamers, tiny screw drivers and wrenches, nut drivers. Even my small pipe cutter and bit ratchet! Got them oiled and ready to store in new plastic boxes.

Filled a cart at Walmart and at Aldi. Just finished putting it all away. Stopped at Walgreens to pick up prescriptions for husband, and he wanted me to get a handtruck and belt strap at Harbor Freight for a new battery that's being delivered, so I did that, too. Glad little granddaughter was home...she got to unload, I just do the putting away. Will be loading up on stuff this week....another crazy snow and negative temps freeze coming out way next weekend. Still have about 6 inches on the ground, but the main roads were clear today. Off the main road, still need 4WD to get to our farm, tho. Very nice to see the sunshine today.

Didn’t sleep last night so felt sluggish today. Maybe tonight I will sleep. Might have myself a cuppa chamomile here in a bit. Repaired the dog’s coat. He began eating it the second time he wore it . Couldn’t find a canvas type one so got the most expensive/durable one I could find. Tasted just as good as the cheap ones evidently. Now it looks more like a saddle pad with canvas side.
Hubby set a ****y trap for me. He was soaking his hot sauce jar. When I was doing dishes it tipped in the sink. I was coughing and choking for 20 minutes

Kinda off topic:
One thing I've learned is that just because an adult child of mine has moved to a certain location (and is likely to move again) doesn't mean I should set my sights on it unless it is where I plan to spend most of the rest of my life. I would have to really be in love with the place. Just sayin'.

Managed to get upright and take a shower today. This virus has really knocked me down. Throat so swollen and painful it's just misery. Think I'm finally on the mend. Thankfully Daughter came to spend a few days taking care of me; she's been a big help, especially with all the dog walks and firewood hauling. I was really struggling with that.
Supposed to work tomorrow; might have to take a sick day.

The boxes I posted were so well made I got curious and looked them up. And I mean very well made, especially compared to everyone else. Latches and hinges are excellent, those are the first things to fail on cheap boxes. Even the way the dividers fit in slots is a step above.

I went to their website for a look around, evidently they make just about any kind of box imaginable, including tackle boxes. As it happens I need a good tackle box. Next order I place from amerzit might include one.

Jaw is better tonight. Still swollen and a little sore, but definitely better.

Skipped breakfast, but then usually do. Fried my leftover rice, added some more spices, scrambled eggs - also well seasoned, mixed it all together. Was a good late night snack. Managed to save some for another meal, but had to tell myself to Put. The. Fork. Down.

Worked some on getting more shelving up and sorting general stuff... Trying to get away from the classic hoarder piled up room with a path thru it.......
Using some of the box store clear plastic tubs and writing what is in them in magic marker to start the sorting process. I have quite a few misc. boxes tho.....

The wife and I have been doing some life review, just talking thru things and trying to savor the amazing life we have led so far..

Got up at 3 am because Bear has tummy issues! He's feeling better after a trip outside. I made coffee and fed the wood stove. Was going to nap on the couch but Bear is stretched out on it, the other couch is not comfortable for me to sleep on! So I'll make Bear move shortly! Regular work day for me, looking for a boring with no excitement, lol!!

Dog woke me up half hr before alarm...barking at whatever. Ugh. Realized the bedroom was cold, so not sure what the husband was messing with on the minisplit remote. I usually don't mess with it. So ended up getting up anyway.
Dog got to run outside and bark at nothing, got a fire going, woke up little granddaughter for school. She's basically been on school vacation for nearly a month. This will be a shocker for her. Hopefully she'll stay awake for math class. No plans yet for today but plenty to do around here.

also saw a disturbing article on wall street journal about how many jobs posted online are "ghost jobs' and not even real. I wonder if that is why our son hasn't been able to get a job! Appearantly many companies post jobs for some government requirement with no intention of hiring anyone. Others just collect thousands of resumes for the perfect candidate , others post jobs when they already have a person they are going to hire ( I saw this while I was working, happened all the time), and other have no intention of hiring an American, but want someone from a third world country with a visa so they can pay them less
I got my first engineering job because I had a recommendation from the Dean of engineering at the university. Husband got his working as an intern during college. I sure hope son didn't waste all this time , our money and effort to get a degree and not get a job now. How depressing, and how typical for this country. Probably half these jobs posted to attempt to make Biden look good, by saying there are lots of jobs are not even real

Ok, have to take care of animals, and debating if we need to clear the road further down, so we can go somewhere. I have a prescription to pick up at the pharmacy for my blood pressure meds, not sure what happens if I run out and not take any
It's either clear the road, or put chains on the truck, which is a hassle, especially for only maybe 1000 ft or so

oh and if anyone asks why no snow plow, we have never needed one before this year. Usually, if we get a lot of snow, it melts within a week or less and warms up again at least since we moved here

Will take DH to VA clinic for lab work this morning and then Walmart for a return and for some more wool socks for DH. Then he wants to drive around and look for a Dodge Charger again.
When we get home, I will set up DH's pills for the month.
Then back to hospital for a mammogram.
Hopefully, that's it for today.

Got a call this morning about proceeding with the hiring process. Interview is scheduled for Thursday morning at the job site. I know more about the job now, they have a nice mix of "vehicles" that includes some heavy equipment. So, the job position of "Vehicle Maintenance" suits me fine. Job site has three garages, office building and lots of outside parking for vehicles.

They have plenty of resources.... I figure they already 'checked-up' on me and my work history, and deemed me acceptable. That and being a white male.... I'm a minority. lol

I believe it's true about the "ghost jobs" and those reasons for doing so. I know some people that have (or are having) a hard time finding employment.

In my field it's a bit different, though, I think. Skilled and experience workers in maintenance and repairs are a dwindling bread. Still, it does seem that some employers are simply building a data base of potential workers without intentions of hiring immediately.

As far as finding that job in your chosen field or the field that you just spent time and money getting qualified for......it might be time to pivot towards something that is available now and get on with it.....the times they are a changing...
