I once got hired a year after I turned in a application.
As far as finding that job in your chosen field or the field that you just spent time and money getting qualified for......it might be time to pivot towards something that is available now and get on with it.....the times they are a changing...
that makes little sense since you can never get a license if you don't work as an engineer. Once you have a license they will come looking for you. I got job offers even during the 2008 crash ( you have to work under some engineers before you are allowed to take the test for the license, at least in Florida it was like that)
I told him to at least try to get any job at a engineering company even if it is a construction job or paperwork, at least he gets his foot in the door.
Probably part of the problems is its winter, not much construction going on

Our oldest son is a electrical engineer. During college he worked on house and building construction crews...it paid off when he got hired at a engineering firm as they would send him out on jobs to trouble shoot and get right in and make things work..
He got tired of going to Hawaii and now is working with a long time friend in a small firm doing the jobs he likes in the electrical engineering field.

As far a working now I am a bit of a pessimist and think we are headed for something much worse than the 2007-2009 downturn.
I told our son he will always have a place here since he could run the solar system and build greenhouses....

that's what my husband did ( electrical engineer/rocket scientist) , he didn't need a license just top clearance

I sure hope son can find something and doesn't end up joining the military like daughter did....she already has 3 job offers for when she gets out ( aviation tech) hopefully in May

Managed to bring in an armful or two of firewood this morning and put in a few hours of work. Just had lunch and now I'm fading fast, think I'll take a nap. Boss called me this morning and as soon as he heard me croaking said to take the day off.
Daughter is still here, thankfully, she'll be able to help me with more firewood. Blustery out there today, nice to be able to stay in by the stove.

Been working on the new building today. Had to chip a lot of ice off the bottom beam and shovel snow. The wife made a vegetable plate for lunch. I'm going back out and start the framing on the east wall. Later this week I'll need to go pick up some plywood for the inside wall. I'm sure the price of plywood and lumber has already shot up thanks to the California fire and the tornado back east. Fortunately I have all the 2× lumber that I'll need.

I've never seen my husband cook or clean anything, and he believes it just magically happens, so I'm always amused at how you work at it teeceetx. I guess it would matter if your wife does not do any of it, then someones got to do it. I swear, this would be a filthy hoarder house if I didn't keep up with it. Husband's office is, but I'm not allowed to touch it much.
Tommyice...you're probably jealous because you're not retired yet. And half your life is spent at work. I remember feeling that. I am amazed I kept up as much as I did, really.
About ready to do some cleanup downstairs in a bit. Just put on new non frozen waterers for the rabbits, and moved the truck over because the dumpster gets emptied tomorrow morning, and the big truck needs room in the driveway to get thru.

@Tommyice does not have to wonder what she'll be doing once she retires!! A year long road trip to clean up HCL!!👍😃😉
Spent the day watching van life builds. If Heidi didn’t get car sick every stinking time she goes in the truck, that’s what kid be doing in 92 more paychecks.

Another day in the Hobbit Hole.

A bit of archeology finding things that had fallen in the dark corner. I will have to move the switch box mounted on the back side of the big beam.

So after lunch I went up to work on the new building when I saw water peeking through the snow near the septic tank. Dang it. I dug up the snow and through 6 inches of ice to reach the clean out. Pulled the cap off and just had a mini geyser, not too bad. I bailed the water out and opened the plug with a snake. Glad I ate lunch first.

Got the tea/hot cocoa shelving cleaned and organized. What a mess it was, 4 shelves on the unit, and little granddaughter and Levi love going to the basement and going thru it. Husband ordered a small 5 cup Mr Coffee maker and tried it out with the Oepus 1 and it handled it very well. He graphs this stuff. Our next size up is stuck in KC along with the solar panels. They don't like our weather here, evidentally. So maybe it'll come in before the next storm hits this weekend.

So, my garage door got bent in the high winds we had a few days ago. Today, we went shopping for a new door. Holy Christ, the prices of garage doors have quadrupled since the Covid pricing increases.

A new garage door (16' x 7') is costing somewhere between $2800 and $4000! I have 3 more bids coming in the next 3 days, and will have to bite the bullet soon.

Last time I replaced garage doors, I got 2 8x7 Carriage style doors on special buy for 500+ each. Did the work myself.
So for somebody doing it, it doesn’t sound bad for a quite a few years later. All depends on what the one with the ultimate say says it should look like.

Continued working on throwing things away from the closet. Got a prescription refilled easily enough this time and it was filled within 90 minutes.
@sonya123 you asked about disadvantage of not getting high blood pressure medication filled somewhere here...mine is considered a hbp med but that's not why I take it. It is to keep my heart rate steady, even, low, so that my heart will not explode. Valve issue. But for you, it depends on how high your pressure is without it, if you have plaque in your arteries, so many things. I wouldn't risk it unless I was taking regularly things like hawthorn berry.

Sometime in the last couple of months either my dog got bigger (he's almost 5) or his collar shrunk... it was too tight on him, I realized today. Soo, after getting kids from school we headed to TSC to get him another one. But TSC didn't have one that will fit Mr. Bighead, soo... off to petsmart. All of their collars looked to be pink or flowers and all had those breakaway snap buckles on them that are basically worthless for big dogs. These city people and their city dogs are something else 🙄 Then we headed over to Petco, which did have a very small section for hunting dogs where we found him something that would fit and that has a real buckle on it. Not cheap but seems decent quality. Got home and Mr. Bighead got his new collar and was all excited about it. Meanwhile, the kids looked at every single pet in every single store and now they want birds and snakes and all the other animals of their very own. That's not happening. 🤣
