What's everybody doing today?

When I went to rehab it was common for it to be one month.

When my DH worked at centers in the 90's, a patient was there until his insurance ran out. Then they were "cured".

Very little sleep last night.
Have to finish DH's inversion table as he didn't want to do it yesterday.
Change marquis at Church to reflect new pastor's name.
Walk dogs.
Visit a friend.

Ended up with 5 rolls of chocolate chip cookie dough to freeze and 2 sheets of cookies baked.

I need to start clearing the road today. I'll try using the big snow blower first. They're calling for only about a foot of snow between today and Friday. But another storm is expected to come in by next Thursday and snow everyday for at least a week, possibly dropping another couple of feet or more. I think I know where the plow is for the tractor. I'll dig it out today too.
The wind is blowing pretty hard this morning so that will mean drifting, which makes it hard find the road in places.

Nothing exciting, no planning, no great delicacy. Just serve 'em up and shovel 'em down. And when at the unemployment office to straighten-out a little snafu.... may I by the grace of God do so with grace, and bite my tongue when necessary.

Got a mild headache. Couldn't get comfortable last night when trying to sleep. Had 9 cats on my bed this morning.
Was about to take a nap again when the phone rang before 7:30am. I could hear it sounded like it was from a call center and the number was spoofed. Person wouldn't identify themselves. I don't usually do it, but I was cranky and cussed her out before I hung up.

I have so much I need to get done today and so little energy.

I'm back pretty much but still a bit under. Here in spirit but body sucks! Patchouli got that right on the scrambled eggs! Have to be careful buying nowadays and eggs are a luxury. I was getting lettuce by the head from WallyWorld and put a stop to that! Almost $2 and the size of a softball. Buy it by the bag, premixed and cheaper. Hungry but body says try it and see what happens! I'll wait. Getting more stuff for hobby. Soon will be full blown workshop.

I just made some fried eggs for breakfast since I have to go somewhere and cooking late

we currently have 8 cartons in the fridge , had more but sold some
I am already discussing with husband on how much to sell them for at the market. If we go too high, people will just do without, too low and people might wonder if there is something wrong with them ( there is not, old ones get cooked for the dogs or I use in baking stuff) . It's also hard to change prices in the middle of the market year. So....I am inclined to go to $6
Would you pay that for free range farm chicken eggs that are not old?

Playing catch up on studies. My seed potatoes arrived and I've no where to plant them- need a week in the garden and the poly to be recovered.
Took the relations to our new local museum. One is going deaf so he shouted a lot, which was hilarious and cringing in equal measures. On the good side, husband fixed the pump, on the bad side a relation has been taken to hospital with bacteria pneumonia and possibly something else. Lovely sunny day here after frost this morning.

I am already discussing with husband on how much to sell them for at the market. It's also hard to change prices in the middle of the market year. So....I am inclined to go to $6
Would you pay that for free range farm chicken eggs that are not old?

To me it depends on size of the eggs. If they're laying big eggs, I'd go to whatever size XL eggs are selling for at the grocery store and add $1 to the price. If they're laying smaller eggs, like a lot of free range chickens seem to do, then add $1 to what the store is selling regular size eggs for.

Store bought large eggs haven't hit $6 here yet, but they're at $5.49 and climbing...

Yes and no. If I had to go out of my way to drive to your place for one grocery item (eggs) I would be inclined not to. At a market or something, sure.

Thieves in the US state of Pennsylvania have stolen more than 100,000 eggs - worth $40,000 (£32,000) - from a single grocer.
The heist targeted the back of a lorry at Pete & Gerry's Organics in Greencastle on 1 February, police say.
It comes as the price of eggs has risen amid a bird flu epidemic, making them an unexpectedly costly menu option. The national chain Waffle House has just hiked their egg charge.
Prices for eggs have surged more than 65% in the last year, US government data shows. The agriculture department predicted the cost will increase by about 20% in 2025.
On Tuesday, Waffle House announced a $0.50 surcharge for customers to shell out per egg.
The US diner chain called it a "temporary targeted surcharge tied to the unprecedented rise in egg prices".
The bird flu epidemic started in 2022 and has led to outbreaks across the US in recent months, according to the agriculture department.
The agency noted prices increased by more than 8% in December alone.
Data from the department also shows the average price for a carton was $2.51 in December 2023 and hit $4.15 a year later. The surge has seen reports of bare shelves in some stores.

I am doing absolutely nothing, again. My wife had a cold/flu that really knocked her for a loop. I guess she felt cmpelled to share it. I have the Queen Mother of all head colds. Yesterday I slept for 12 hours (9 to 9). Woke up for an hour and slept until 5:00 this morning. Today is better, but my nose is still running like a faucet.

I am drowning it with massive doses of water and massive doses of Vitamin C.

All went well enough at the unemployment office. Especially considering they were busy, I wasn't the only one having 'issues'..... everyone was calm, cool and collected, myself included. I'll be getting my 'benefits' again and soon enough.

Life is good..... and I still have eggs in the fridge for tomorrow morning.

EDIT: Considering all the stress related to being unemployed and lacking sufficient funds for living a prosperous life.... I was impressed that everyone was calm, cool and collected. There's still hope for us as a civilization even when in dire need.

We have been paying those prices for eggs, for years. Welcome to the club.

I would raise the price. As you say, people will object if you raise prices later. They will happily accept a price drop later if it doesn't work out.

that sounds reasonable to me too. I have been adding $1 to store eggs but the store eggs keep going up and up...I can't keep up with these price changes!!

Last year we charged $5 a dz (brown, green and a few white eggs, not organic but free range from happy chickens LOL). We sold every single carton I took to the market, and I ended up buying slightly cheaper eggs at the store ( they were just under $4 here then) to do my baking since you can't tell what eggs you use in that really. Now store eggs are just over $5 a carton , and this is white factory farm eggs
I think I am going to go up to $6 for sure

last year, vendors that had certified organic eggs were selling them for $8 dz

I know that we could/should sell our eggs, but instead we just give them away. Some we give to the senior center and some go to the food bank. We give some to family too.

absolutely! I won't eat a fried store egg. They taste bad. Like fishy or something, and are usually pale and weird looking. They are ok for baking but I don't want to eat them as just eggs

I'm cooking most of the meal for tonight. (Manicotti stuffed with eggplant, ground beef, bell peppers, onion, garlic, mozzarella, ricotta, & parmesan). That way I'll be ready to finish it up in quick order in several hours, ready to eat nice and hot.

Already finished today’s chore list. The most important… install a barrel bolt latch on the clothes locker in the laundry rm. The locker survived the tornado in ‘74 which took the house but not unscathed. It was racked slightly corner to corner. It’s never had a latch, just magnets mounted inside the door which haven’t worked well since the damage. I kept a tiny bungee cord on the handles for years but it was annoying to open or close.

So today I installed a barrel bolt just to keep the doors from swinging open. Works great, does exactly what I intended. A simple, quick way to open or close the doors. Cheap also, just $7 for latch and screws.

I just went to the store a couple hours ago. Large eggs were up to 5.99, jumbo eggs were 6.49!
