I deboned and sliced up the ham just now. 5 ziplock baggies in the freezer, 1 still in the fridge, and a bag of chunks to go with the bone into a pot of soup sometime next week. I love cooking a large meat and being able to turn it into several days of different meals.

Last night was one of my favorite meals; bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos. The peppers were stuffed with cheese, chopped bacon, diced habaneros and Thai chilli's.
Tip: use gloves while chopping habaneros. Some body parts can be very sensitive to habanero oil.....
Yeah, one thing I learned about peppers is you can’t just wash that stuff off. Once you start feeling that burn on your skin it’s too late. It’s going to burn for a while. Why do we like things like this?.....
I tried my first stuffed jalapeño a couple years ago and was amazed at how good they were. I was expecting a bad burning, but the cream cheese cooled it down just fine. Wrapping it in bacon sounds even better! The Thai chili’s sound slightly dangerous though.... :)

It is the season, so I eat this as much as I can. They are so plentiful when Im down here in south Louisiana. Its a process. First clean by purgeing, boil and then cool down and soak. Then sample and eat. We also had stuffed artichokes, jambalaya, potato salad, spinach & artichoke dip and other sides. We where waiting for Brent to show up with the cold beer, but he was a no show....
For dessert, pound cake with fresh sliced strawberries mixed with powdered suger and whipcream on top. It was a fun time.

We had roasted chicken, 2 slabs of slow cooked barbecued ribs, rice and broccoli casserole, baked macaroni, green bean casserole, cake, and of course a chocolate bunny for dessert. Damn, I forgot the beer too. Luckily I have more muscadine wine than I could drink in 5 years so we were covered.
I only hope everyone here had as good a day with friends or family and all are filled with food and contentment.

You guys got me to thinking about the old days. When we turned 16, we found out we could drive just across the Tennessee line and drink at a bar. Used to get Strohs draft for $2 a pitcher, so you could get messed up for $6.... we did that until we got out of school. It still amazes me that I didn’t kill myself driving or get the )$*##@ beat out of me. Un, and that I still have a liver...

Until the place closed finally about 10 years ago, the night before Thanksgiving was like a high school reunion up there. Pretty cool, actually.
