Sorry dude! Was this in the new camper you bought? We are having a couple nights in the lower 20's in a couple days here. You just reminded me that it's not that bad. Hope you got it worked out.
Yep. It was the new 27' trailer. Going to the airport yesterday was a 12 hour round trip. Didn't get home until after 10 pm. Got the furnace running and most of the water lines thawed out and went to bed at 1. The water to the toilet is still froze and the water inlet line is frozen. I'll crawl under the trailer once it gets light and see about thawing them out. Good thing is it warmed up to 17 degs, but it's still snowing. Will have to plow again today.
 
Did Chicken Carbonara the other night. Basically, store had some name brand BOGO (Buy one get one free) Alfredo sauce.

Got two of those, and a can of Cream of Chicken soup (this totally makes jar sauce taste like homemade). A small bag of real bacon bits, small pack of mushrooms, and sprinkled in some shredded cheese we had. Then added a small can of sweet green peas. Heat to a near boil, just to let simmer.

Sauteed some boneless chicken breasts (on sale) in olive oil and seasoning salt (with a splash of soy sauce), and cut them bite-sized and added to the sauce mixture that was simmering. Served it over some bow-tie pasta (also a BOGO deal). Simply amazing....and all in about 20 minutes (and made about 8 servings (enough for all 4 of us to have seconds), at a cost of about $2 a serving, or $4 per person with seconds). Suck it McDonalds.....

We had something very similar the other night. I was reliablely informed it tasted great. my tastebuds had the cold so I couldn't tell. Everything is back to normal now and we are having a full roast dinner tonight. Roast Lamb, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, Brussels sprouts, winter mash and plenty of gravy.

I wish I could afford lamb here! I'm still working on loads of leftovers here, big bowl of chili, pasta, greasy green beans, sliced turkey, salads, and for a snack I made a huge batch of Chex mix. I add extra seasonings and Worcestershire and Fritos to mine. I also double the nuts and pretzels in it.
 
Tonight I made some clam chowder, well my version of it anyway. First I start with a large can of potatoe chowder, add a can of clams, add a large bunch of chopped bacon and one diced habanero. It really hit the spot after a day spent crawling around in the snow and ice thawing frozen water lines.
 
My wife is going to a Christmas dinner provided by work. (no spouses invited). I told her I'm going to just go to Subway, but actually, I'm going to Outback Steakhouse, where they have unlimited shrimp going on...LOL...

No way it's over 2000 pounds for a kg of steak... Are you sure that's in pounds (currency)?

I pretty much buy steak only when I can get it for $7 USD per US lb here (a US lb is about half a kg). So to feed a family of 4, with an lb of steak for each, it's about $28...so more of a treat than often. Chicken and pork are much cheaper, so this is a lot more common. I can typically get chicken at about $2.50 USD per lb. Pork is usually $4 per lb or less.

Of course, here in the US, every meal often has some kind of meat. Seafood is real expensive here, even when you live on the water.
 
I'm ashamed, it's in pence. Sooo a pound of rump steak would cost approx £7.50 or approx $9.00

Pork athough cheaper than beef and lamb is about the same price but chicken is more expensive. Seafood is also expensive over here too. Well, I say that, but some fish is quite cheap, oily fish such as Mackerel and Herring.

9.00 a pound is kind of rough for rump. For that money I can usually get ribeye or t bone. These chops (butterflied pork loin) were 3.19 for 1.35 lbs. not too bad. I buy most of my meat when the meat guy marks it down as it gets near the expiration. If it is discolored I pass, but most of it is still great. Like gaz said, almost every meal here has a main meat involved. No wonder I have two partially clogged arteries...
 
If your catching a cold, try a couple (or more) shots of vodka with pepper. I learned that when I lived in Russia. It always worked for me.

No kidding, with pepper? Black pepper or what...and how much? Just to taste? I coping with a stinkin' cold right now myself. Wife took pity & made me a crock-pot full of chicken & dumplings. Can't tell, yet, if it helped. But it certainly didn't hurt!

I think about a half a teaspoon of ground black pepper. I take it the first sign of a cold. It works for me.
 
No dinner for me.... colonoscopy at 7 in the morning..... lets just say that I'm NOT full of crap tonight....

Good luck. I know it's no fun, but is really smart to suffer thru it. I was pretty happy when they said I was good for ten years.

Er, how did we go from dinner items to colonoscopies? Just sayin.... Seriously, glad your ok. I have a friend that had colon cancer, now has a bag attached to his side. He went thru a tough ride with it but is still kicking. It's worth having checked out.
 
i only ate junk food last night...on acount i got busy with a cabinet for food storage,and a couple of other things..

In an attempt to get back on topic, I had a steak and baked potatoe for dinner last night. Had to dig the BBQ out of the snow, but grilling a big hunk of red meat was well worth it.
Steak and baked potatoe is quick, easy and is right at the top of my food chain. Throw in a salad and glass of wine and you have a great night. Not so sure about grilling in the snow though. The steak may do fine, but I'd be freezing my but off.

Yikes, I rarely pay more than $8 a pound tops for steak. I'm cheap. Hence, we typically only get it when on sale. My wife is big on ribeye, whereas the kids and I will eat lesser cuts, though they are still pickier than I am, as they like theirs rare. I go more medium. Chicken, we can get for $2.50 a pound almost always for boneless skinless breasts. Because chicken is so varied in what you can do with it, and it's cheap, most of our meals involve it. Pork is typically $3 to $5 a pound. I usually get steak for us (not the wife) at about the $6 - $7 per pound range.

Often though, we also get BOGO (Buy One Get One free) deals on meat too, so we take advantage there too. For example, last night, Steakumms (flat frozen sheets of beef for sandwiches) were BOGO, so we crumbled it up and sauteed it in a pan. We also sauteed some cut peppers, mushrooms, and onion. Made some Aus Jus, and made our own French Dips with some bread and white cheese. Some seasoned tater tots on the side. Yummy.
