enough to keep me worried...have been trying to think, what would happen if mad-Vlad actually would do something stupid, we have here two military bases, one navy, which is more or less right in the center and one army, slightly away but very close, the chaos would be amazing...

Yeah it is something to worry about. And yesterday I saw a thread on GLP where Obama said we no longer will be making nuclear weapons and in any defense we will not use them I was sitting there saying WTHeck. This will not end well for the US if Putin decides to bomb us.

obama can't say that and mean it, he will be removed, he has a duty to defend and if he refuses to defend then he can and will be removed under 25th Amendment section 1 thru 4

FYI, if the statement is true then why has the administration ordered modernization of nuclear capabilities and rebuilding several ICBM facilities and one of the reasons the Pentagon has put a lot of focus on the command and control of our nuclear forces going after complacent Generals and test cheats of rank and file Soldiers that have duties at these nuclear facilities ;)

The administration has told the Pentagon to plan for 12 new missile submarines, up to 100 new bombers and 400 land-based missiles, either new or refurbished

Whith all the garbage coming out of D.C its easy to forget that if our Enemy's decide to go hot they will be destroyed , dismantled , and will suffer great'ly . Powers in Washington D.C will swing to and fro from election to election but our Military is the greatest . GOD Bless the U.S.A , be part of it or leave it .

it's poker with very high stakes now..or Russian roulette..our tiny air force have been burning jet fuel a lot lately..

Jontte I hope things hold off untill after 2016 . I would feel better aboute the U.S backing our European Allies if we have a more Conservative adminastration in office . You know the Socialist we have now have may have similar ideas as the Kremin . I remember Obamas hot mic comment about wait until after his second election he could be more flexable to the Russian Government .

psalm 7, hope so too,we need allies, badly, though mad-Vlad ain't so strong he portrays,he could still do serious damage here.
pray to God that you would get a good, fair and strong President...from the right :)

right now it's leaking more and more out of Russia about what mad-Vlad is doing...his short term goal is to make sure the common russkie does what he wants...order is his short term goal...kinda ring a bell about a guy dressed in khaki with a mustache in the 1930's...

to be honest,nor would I,that's why I exercise 4-5 times a week,read manuals/pdf's of first-aid, do mental training...i.e prep so much I can.
try to plan how I would get my kids out of harms way, one thing I cant plan for is my oldest son,any sign of armed conflict he will be drafted straight away as he is 24yrs...these worries will never end..at least I've learnt a lot from here, got some good prepping friends from whom I can seek advice if I get stuck with something

Yeah I try and keep myself going daily, and keep things up to date even adding new recipes that are made from things we can grow around here. I told the kids we need to start walking 2 miles every day just so we will be ready in case if we ever have to walk some place. Was thinking about getting us all bikes so we can start preparing for that option, however my youngest is afraid of bikes. She is autistic so it is hard to get her to ride one. If I have to buy her a 3 wheeler bike for adults it will run me close to $300. Something I do not really want to spend. Maybe next Christmas if we all last that long. I may try to talk hubby into getting a pony for her this year or a small horse just in case.

Putin has already said if the US sends weapons to the Ukraine war will start well the bill may pass for that to happen before January gets here, so lets pray war doesn't happen. In the meanwhile I am going to keep doing what I have to, to be ready for anything.

have you checked those "bikes" you can attach to your own or your hubbys for your daughter?? you fasten it under your own saddle...or a bike cart, she would sit there in seat belts, very safe...
I did spot that latest of Ukraine, your side already approved to send weapons according to that news piece...right now I just wish and pray that we could spend x-mas in peace...simply hope that the russkies don't start anything in the winter

I will look into the ones that attach. We have tried for years to get her to ride a bike but she is scared to death of them. I sure hope we all get to have a peaceful Christmas. But if leaders have their way we may not. Some have said for years that Christmas in 2014 would be the last real Christmas anyone ever has so lets hope Christmas goes well for that just in case moment.

I will pray big time for a peaceful Christmas...can't do more or less than that.

hope you can sort that bike issue, that's one heck of a way to transport you and your family, okay,it's a bit slow but it's quiet,no gasoline required..

not to mention how good it's for you ;)
..when your bum gets over the first chock...what's happening here...why am I sitting over this hard thing..

now mad-Vlads war planes are flying with the transponder off, no commercial air control can see them, only on military radar...neither can the commercial jets see them..it must be nice piloting a big 777 or an 320 and spot those maniacs when they nearly touch your nose...

then as a new trend here, there's a lot pro russkie activity on social media in Finland,it's directed from Kremlin,to put up as much positive things as possible, pure propaganda so to say..

From CNBC
Beware: Putin, the wounded animal

" In short, Putin is like a Augusto Pinochet or a Juan Perón … but with much more steely resolve, a massive military, and nuclear bombs.

But even with Putin's extremely visible and frightening track record before us, it's clear the Obama administration and even the investment community is still not prepared for the extent of the damage the Russian leader can unleash on his own people, on his neighbors, and on the U.S. financial markets"

From AP
Russia's sinking economy becoming a global threat

"Russia began the year as the world's eighth-largest economy, with a gross domestic product of $2.1 trillion, according to the World Bank. A single ruble is now worth less than two pennies, having lost about 50 percent of its value against the dollar since January.

This means Russia's GDP has been halved in dollar terms, putting it roughly on par with Mexico and Indonesia as the world's 15th largest economy"

What's even scarier, is that if I took a poll right now, with my co-workers (who are all pretty damn bright)....I doubt even 10% of them would even be aware of this whole potential Russia issue, and what it could mean.

If I was a conspiracy theorist I would believe there be a media blackout on the potential dangers then given the silence from world leader on the potential problems russia imposes leaves me dumbfounded. I see very little questions directed from the White House press corps regarding russia, the nonchalant attitude is troubling.

You know what's going to happen. We (the US) are going to have to cut back on oil exports to drive up the oil prices in order to get a more stable Russia in return (to stabilize the global markets). My preference would be that OPEC blinks first, but I wouldn't bet on it. So, by year end, we'll be paying over $3 a gallon again. Of course, even this is a band-aid fix at best.

Putin is determined to continue modernizing his army, at the expense of all else, which really leads one to wonder....WHY? The little foray into the Ukraine is a good indication of why. I'm actually surprised he's been more hands off in Syria, to be honest. Then again, maybe he's just waiting for them to thin the herd on each other, before going back in.

well,it's interesting to see,how strong mad-Vlad's power base actually is??
they are talking if the prime minister Medvedev is going to leave his place, the rubel is spiraling down..mad-Vlad's army isn't so strong what he would like it to be,some units modernized, not all,ok he has nukes, that we all know, but will he act like a cornered rat???
the ordinary russian is quite calm,as long as he/she gets their daily bread, take that away...then they get angry

He's going to blame it all on the sanctions and the West, to maintain popularity, but that will only go so far.

yup,and as Kremlin controls the media so far,it shouldn't be that difficult...let's see if he does like his "most likely idols Stalin and Hitler"..start a little rumble to boost his popularity and get "lebensraum/living space" for the russkie people...
as we all know here in Finland, russkies travel a lot when new year comes...hope they leave their tanks and apc's in the garage ;) they sometimes tend to take them along for their travels...

Just read that the ruble is now worth about 2 cents US dollars. Not good at all. I just hope if a war does start it hold off until 2015 would give us all a chance to get ready for it at least.

mad-Vlad had his motivational press conference today...he's good and west is bad..we all know that..kremlin will fix everything..and west is bad...there are no russian military in Ukraine...only people on vacation..and west is bad :)
