week 4 day 6

cheated and weight myself a day early and much to my surprise I am down 2 more pounds, despite the fatty pork

so 4 lbs total down over the holidays , yeah :)

not sure yet on what I am making today , very busy

edit : making Greek salad chicken and rice today, plus trying something, salmon chowder from canned salmon for the soup

had grits for breakfast, since husband will be getting back late so we'll eat later than usual

fruit for the evening

week 4 last day

since I already weight myself yesterday I won't today

today I am making Austrian pancakes for lunch with some fruit and soup

Haven't made these in a while and feel like having something sweet. Absolute calorie bombs but I will just have a lot of soup and fruit and a little of them. The soup with the canned salmon in it yesterday was not too bad. Today I might make cream of some sort of veggie soup, depending on what I have frozen that needs to be used up. Maybe broccoli

I am going to start over with week #1, day # 1 since it is a new year.

Yesterday evening I cheated and had a beer since it was New years eve

Today more fatty pork: bbq ribs, collards, corn bread and one eyed peas, good luck food for the new year

Goal is 20 lbs
Are one eyed peas the same as black eyed peas?

I had leftover split pea and ham soup, a slice of cheese and the tail end of the stuffing about 10am - still not hungry. If I do get hungry within the next hour, I will have a spoon of peanut butter. Going to try eating once a day and sticking to meat and veggies - I know it works for me 😊

well its been 30some days of using dumbbell...its helped for sure... i am stronger as i have to do 120 various curls to feel it now. its clear too looking at arms/ biceps/forearms have a bit of definition to them...less than 3 minutes morning and night is worth it..plus hand strength is better...win win.

been letting foot heal and its way better but not 100% and may never be..its time now to get back at it or at least get more serious..gained a few pounds but nothing serious so clamping my mouth shut some this week and doing some intermittent fasting this week to get back on track.

also gained a bit more mobility in my damaged leg/knee and bending it up tighter.got to be super careful with it dont want damage to it and need fixing...again.

words of encouragement to myself and others....shut ya pie hole and get on with it ! its a math problem ..less in equals less me !

Week 1 day 2

I havent made pasta in a while, so today some sort of pasta, and soup of course, probably fettucine with some chicken and veggies

been eating manderin oranges in the afternoon , the bag is almost gone

going to make banana oatmeal for beakfast today since we are going shopping so will eat lunch late
( I make the oatmeal, not from a package)

week 1 day 3

the diet is starting to feel normal. I am not even thinking about eating late now. I guess you can get rid of a bad habit relatively fast. I am also not feeling hungry except a few times in the morning taking care of the animals, but that's easy enough to ignore

yesterday I ended up making baked ziti instead, with meat and tomatoe sauce plus broccoli on the side, but no soup. Didn't have time

today Schnitzel, potatoes and cauliflower with cheese sauce
and I will make soup. Probably rice soup today

Good Job @sonya123 It is said that it take 3 weeks to create a habit or to break a habit.
I am on day 3 and so far have at least lost that bloated feeling from all the holiday goodies.
I don't own a scale (never have) so don't know what my weight is.

good luck to you too on the weight loss
this is why I started in December, I wanted to avoid the holiday gain, and it seems to have worked

week 1 day 4

I did eat a bagel with cream cheese yesterday afternoon. I was actually hungry after all the work we did yesterday. So fruit wasn't enough

today I am making chicken and dumplings, seems like a good meal for the weather and I have a chicken defrosted
no soup since thats almost soup anyway. I usually bake bread to go with this, but I won't this time so there is no carb overload

Well, for those of us on the other side, struggling not to lose weight, I had to loosen one notch on my belt today:oops:.
I blame the great restaurants in Pigeon Forge and people forcing me to eat lunch (or be declared antisocial :().
The good news: I am now 2 more steps away from being declared "frail".:woo hoo:
(don't worry, it won't hang around long:rolleyes:).

so lunch got messed up too, today is not my day...
defrosted a dog chicken by acciddent ( either old hen or rooster we got and didn't want) , definitely not a cornish cross
tried cooking it anyway, but I could have cooked that thing for 1000 years and it would have still been scrawney and tough, so to the dogs it went ( they were happy)
starting over by defrosting store chicken breasts 😒

Hunny had a Doctor appointment. We ended up going to a local Cafe and split a dish of Snapper covered with a Ponchatrain Sauce, seasoned Rice, Sauteed Veggies and a couple pieces of Garlic Bread. Since we split the meal, also ordered a couple Boudain Balls with Ranch Dressing. My one meal today. IF I get hungary, it will be a salad. I am down 3 pounds since last week. At this point, I'm not even really trying. It's the lifestyle I am used too now. Tomorrow I am off work so will be eating breakfast with my Hunny in the morning. That is the exception for eating 2.

I don’t know what any of that stuff is but sure sounds like the proper response is “Oh my!” 😊

She was eating Cajun food.
Red snapper fish comes from the gulf down here and is a common food. The Ponchatrain Sauce is named after the big lake down here. The seasoned rice is what we call 'dirty-rice'. Boudin comes in big links like sausage and is eaten by everybody here (DW has it every week); the balls are for people that don't want to deal with a whole link.
Her ready-to-eat link for this week:

Well that sounds like a FINE Meal. Love me some snapper. Never tried Boudin.

It is very addictive . A RTE balanced meal in one sausage skin, of ground meat, rice, and spiced veggies.

Went down another pound. None of my shorts even fit. Went out and of course, Costco has no shorts in their warehouse. I bought I pair of shorts, a new smaller belt, and 2 xl tee shirts. $195!
But they are 5.11 brand. So they should last awhile. It was my reward for being down 35 pounds.

week 1 day 5

today I am going to experiment. I am going to try to make gyros from scratch. Found a recipe to make a sort of gyro meat meatloaf with lamb and beef ( I have to put it in blender, we'll see, one of these days I will get a "food processor")
making the bread to go with it too and the sauce

I have lost a bunch of weight over the years.
To date I have lost another whole me.
About 10 years ago I weight in at 425 pounds.
i was depressed, unhappy, angry.
My clothes were size 24 or larger.
Now my clothes are size 12 regular.
Now I weigh about 145 pounds.
Still have 20 pounds to lose then I will be at the high end of my weight of when I went into the Army.
I changed my plate size from a dinner size plate about 12 inches.
Now my plate size is bit bigger than a bread plate.
I drink at least 64 ounces of water x 3 daily.
But the biggest change I did is start cooking from scratch.
I cut out pretty much all artificial sweetners, dyes, sugar, salt from my diet.
I still eat carbs( get real I make sourdough bread).
Instead of taking 50 medications a day x3.
I take 4 pills once a day now.
I had both of my replaced few years back (left 2017, right 2020).
I ride my recumbent bike everyday rain or shine.
I walk several miles everyday.
Lift weights to rebuild my muscles.
By the way I am 66 years old.
Slow and steady is how I go.
I love to cook, bake, but now I do it moderation.

@Supervisor42 I wanted my weight at a certain place and for the most part I am there. Doc told me if I lost 5 more pounds she’d be concerned. I didn’t do much to get to this point. Started working full time, then don’t feel like cooking, and eat whatever I can scrounge up. I have another health issue that would be solved if I ate the WFPB diet (but I’d still add some seafood).
My siblings are all thin even as we age. Not necessarily healthy.

Exactly!
What did you have both replaced?

I had to look up WFPB (whole food plant based).
If you did, you would probably be in trouble with your doctor quick, hard to maintain your weight on that.
I would probably be diagnosed with an "eating disorder" if I yapped about it...
Since I retired, I have ZERO appetite. Most of my meals are 'force-feeding' :(.
(except for really-good pecan pie! :D).

I don't feel "right" if I don't eat meat and dairy. I will say though that I eat very good meat and dairy. Youngest daughter who is a vegetarian has been eating small amounts of meat lately. Because she has lost too much weight, and doesn't feel very healthy. And she's been a vegetarian for at least five years. She does eat healthy foods, unprocessed.
I crave meat every once in a while. I couldn’t be vegetarian.

Congratulations, Havasu. It isn’t easy.

Are you talking from experience? I have been WFPB for five years. My doctor was astounded by my blood work after less than a year. He took me off of all five of my prescribed meds. My doc has actually asked if I would be willing to talk to some of his patients, which I have.

What meds were you on or what did they treat.
