reading some of your posts on here makes me think my extra 20 lbs are not really such a huge thing....

But I still want to get rid of them

the gyros worked, but for some reason I can no longer download photos to my laptop from the phone. It just does nothing, and it's an almost new phone only a few months old

Around here DJ's Boudain is a staple. His backyard was actually caddy corner from my next door neighbor growing up. He was only a few years older than me and started selling his boudain in our local grocery store.
You gotta spell it right, 'boudin' or it may be counterfeit:

I have lost a bunch of weight over the years.
To date I have lost another whole me.
About 10 years ago I weight in at 425 pounds.
i was depressed, unhappy, angry.
My clothes were size 24 or larger.
Now my clothes are size 12 regular.
Now I weigh about 145 pounds.
Still have 20 pounds to lose then I will be at the high end of my weight of when I went into the Army.
I changed my plate size from a dinner size plate about 12 inches.
Now my plate size is bit bigger than a bread plate.
I drink at least 64 ounces of water x 3 daily.
But the biggest change I did is start cooking from scratch.
I cut out pretty much all artificial sweetners, dyes, sugar, salt from my diet.
I still eat carbs( get real I make sourdough bread).
Instead of taking 50 medications a day x3.
I take 4 pills once a day now.
I had both of my replaced few years back (left 2017, right 2020).
I ride my recumbent bike everyday rain or shine.
I walk several miles everyday.
Lift weights to rebuild my muscles.
By the way I am 66 years old.
Slow and steady is how I go.
I love to cook, bake, but now I do it moderation.
You have lost a few of you over the years. That is a HUGE accomplishment!! I ended up changing my plate size tonight, not always, but since I ate breakfast, I wanted to eat a smaller portion at dinner.

I had to look up WFPB (whole food plant based).
If you did, you would probably be in trouble with your doctor quick, hard to maintain your weight on that.
I would probably be diagnosed with an "eating disorder" if I yapped about it...
Since I retired, I have ZERO appetite. Most of my meals are 'force-feeding' :(.
(except for really-good pecan pie! :D).
Here ya go. A maple 🍁 pecan pie 🥧 drizzled with chocolate 🍫 (made it for Christmas).

Not around here Hun. . . It is spelled Boudain always. Maybe you need to order some if you can't find it local. I have eaten my fair share of boudin and I think his is the best by far.
If he has built a business around it, then it is probably the real stuff.
Even Canadians say we have 'colours', so it is just a different spelling.
There are 1000 recipes for boudain/boudin, heck if you have someone with "iron-poor blood" we even have an app for that  :
https://www.wideopencountry.com/cajun-blood-boudin-sausage/
It is available at many places near me. (and yes, it tastes great:))
That should get a lot of people to stick to their diet.

Check out the iron in it!

Find me some WFPB that can even come close to that .
Your blood has a lot of iron in it and your body cannot make it. You must 'consume' it.

I like blood sausage but didn't know they even sold this in the US. Never seen it. Fried blood sausage with rutabagas yumm! I would totally like to eat that today but no blood sausage and no rutabagas either

Iron is very important in my diet.

I remember some tears throughout my jorney. No, was not an easy task at all and all I had to do was lose 80 lbs unlike what you did Mo.
I remember the frustration, tears.
But I also remember the Doctor tell that if I didn't get my head out of my a**, I would be dead in 6 months.
I was a mess.
My blood pressure was constantly in Stroke range.
297/197.
My brain was going to explode.
Seizures weren't controlled.
I was drowning my sorrows in booze and pills.
Quit the booze cold turkey.
Was weaned off the pain pills.
Was weaned off wrong dosage of seizure medication.
Started with just one step at a time literally.
Now I do Military style 5 K's.
Still watch what I eat.
Estelle and I lift weights together.
We also do yoga together.
I try to walk at least a mile a day.
When I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, I thought my life ended.
Now I know it just changed a bit.
I am one stubborn old Army broad.
I don't quit.I might get side tracked once in awhile.
But I don't quit.
And yes I was active duty when I got hurt.
Was about to be deployed,

week 1 day 7

Yep! Down 1 more pound!

I think maybe 1 lb a week is reasonable? Even if it's a small amount. I am down 5 lbs since I started now.
It's really something how a bag of stupid chips and some chocolate can make such a big difference. I don't even crave chips now. Plus I think if you know you have them in the house, you will want to eat them. I just don't buy any now. It started with my accident in 2019. I sat in bed eating junk and drinking because I hated my life.
Then came covid. I stocked up on junk and alcohol , stupid I know but I stocked up on everything including that. The entire family ate the junk, just because it was there. When we lived in Florida I bought chips for holiday or birthday parties . That's it.

Food today: I am making fried chicken, rice, sweet potatoes and salad
I make my own salad dressing ( oil and vinegar with onion and garlic) don't like store dressing

you have to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound...so that means on weekly averaging you burnt 500 calories a day more than you were taking in.

you started this thread on dec 3rd...thats 35 days for 5#...5#=17,500calories burnt. 17,500 divided by 35 days =500 calories for your average over that time. i think thats fantastic to be honest.

you eat some pretty high calorie foods too...i bet it if you total skipped breakfast for a week and only ate at noon and 6p.m. and do the intermittent fasting thing you would be shocked at calories burnt.

you are on the right path...at this steady pace it(extra pounds) will be gone by spring for sure.

but wait theres more...lol

if you done exactly what you are doing for entire year..thats 500calories a day x 365=182,500 calories divided by 3500cal...for weight loss of 52.142# in a year.

at some point you have to stop what you are doing or starve to death or get real unhealthy in long term.

people dont understand long term its easy to starve.

i done the minnesota starvation program on myself in past and had to stop it because i was dropping pounds way to fast. eating 1500 calories a day and doing what i was doing was yanking all the extra weight off me really really fast.at times i was burning 3500 to upwards of 5000 calories a day.if i skipped breakfast i could eat same calories or more and still yanked the pounds off me super fast because of the intermittent fasting going on in my body...plus i eat no bread, pasta or sugar...very limited cheese.

I do skip breakfast most of the time. I am not that hungry in the morning and don't have time either. Like today, we just got done taking care of the animals and I am now cooking lunch. Nothing to eat yet. I do have tea with sugar and milk in the morning, several cups, 1 tbsp of sugar each. I calculated the calories in that sugar and it's not that much. Not worth giving it up. I think I will just keep doing what I have been doing . We usually eat anywhere from 12 till 2 , depending on how much animals care we have to do in the morning and what I am cooking. I usually have some fruit and a bagel, or a sandwich of some sort around 5-6 pm. Sometimes I make oatmeal or grits in the evening around that time. That's it
I did eat pie and cookies during the holidays, during the day and not a HUGE amount of them.

But thanks:)

So I was eating 500 MORE calories a day than I needed to put on the weight. Sounds about right. Half a bag of chips ( I could never eat a whole one at one time) , half a thing of Aldi chocolate. That would do it

LOL, I doubt very seriously I will starve!!
And you are forgetting something, the less you weight, the less calories you use up. There will come a point where I will stop losing anything eating what I am eating now because my thinner body will use less calories. I just hope that point will be at a good weight for me and not when I still have 10 lbs to go....we will see
I can do this diet indefinitely but cutting out more food will be much harder
