Interesting... every country in the world is suffering a 'cost of living crisis'. I wish they wouldn't call it that; crisis indicates something short term. Call it life- this is the way it is now, I don't believe it will change, and theres no point in blaming whoever was previously in Government- its beyond their control.
Interest rates were cut by the EU yesterday here, and will help those on a tracker mortgage.
Our budget comes out in October, as does the UK's. They have a 'black hole' and will cut pensioners fuel allowance this winter.
Here in Ireland, it doesn't appear as bad, but if the big companies, Pharma etc, pulled out tomorrow and went east, and they will - it would be catastrophic for the country. Unemployment would shoot up its 4.2% at the minute, up slightly.
For those interested, an economist here, David McWilliams has written a book called Money - its a history of, I think. Heard him on the radio, he spoke alot of sense about our economy.
