I appear to be the only person alive tonight. Poor Fort isn't feeling well and wasn't able to even go pick up her bike. So I know she won't be around for the night or maybe the next few. Hope @Double R and her babies are in good shape as they near that time of the year. So many of you are grandparents, you should start a thread for that. I hate that the news producers have made the tragedy such a media event that it takes away from the loss and respect we should have for those who did the right thing. As I get older I hate the mass media more and more.

Rain and more rain but at least the temps will be over 50 degrees tomorrow.

Pretty please send some our way!

Hope Fort feels better soon!

So it's after 1am now and if I wanna get up at 7am I better hit the hay. I know the puppy dog seems ready to snuggle up for the evening. Love the puppy pillow. LOL

Sweet dreams!

Wish you had some of ours! We've had almost 8" this month! Flood stage on the river is 369 and it's now at 373.5. There's two ways to our place and one of them is under water. I'm glad we paid an Engineering Company to survey us for flood zone and do a 100 year flood search on our houseplace! So yeah, @Double R we have plenty to spare if we could figure out a way.
This reminds me of how life is. It's usually feast or famine!
Praying for rain for y'all.
I'm part Cherokee so I'll even try a rain dance for ya!

Good afternoon HCL. Been busier than all get out tearing out the rear differential on the new Ranger to put in a limited slip. Can't believe it came out of the factory with an open differential it's a 4x4 ,then when I'm done with that I'll start on figuring out what's wrong with the front drive while I'm waiting on the limited slip to come.

Holy cow that’s a lot of water! Sounds like us last year.
For sure on feast or famine! They’ve just announced we’re in a drought again. My fields already told me that.
The issue here is the reservoirs are full so no one cares but us who live off the land.
Please everyone feel free to come visit and do the naked rain dance!

I’m guessing this isn’t a new truck but a new to you truck? Is this a fun project or a repair project?

New to us. The rear differential is an upgrade but the front drive is repair.

Happy Lunar New Year

Year of the Dog
4 days off!!!woooooooo!

My favorite time of the year over here. Everyone tries to be nice to each other for a few days then its back to being miserable for the rest of the year.

Lots of good food, and family gatherings. More food.

We were going to go to Vietnam but the airlines charge 3 times as much so that put a stop to that thought.

I have seen me naked ... you don’t want me dancing naked no matter how much you need rain

I think that might be the reason! The sky cries! Must be why it works for our 97 year old rancher friend.

So I am pretty sure that I am getting better now.

The antibiotic from the sinus infection a few weeks ago caused a rash that was initially thought to be poison ivy or poison oak. The treatment for the rash - steroids - irritated the lining of my stomach and wouldn't let me keep my dinner down on Tuesday night. The rash and swelling came back with a vengeance, and now it is being treated by antihistamines instead of steroids. Meanwhile I have two more prescriptions to treat the stomach issues caused by the steroids.

I have been pretty tired and as @buildit said, I was so sick that I couldn't get my motorcycle on Valentine's Day as planned. I am hoping the dealership will wait until the swelling is down in my hands and face before I pick up my bike, but it could take up to 2 weeks for this mess to clear up.

what is going on with young folks these days? my great-grandson-6-told his mother 25- he hates her. this also happened with my sister's daughter and granddaughter.

My oldest said that once when she was 12 when I wouldn't let her go to the movies with her friends, on a school night. My husbands head about popped off! I'm sure she still thinks it on occasion but she has never said it out loud again.

More people in the southeast are bitten by copperheads than all other species combined. A rattle snake is the least aggressive, a cottonmouth is very aggressive but will hesitate before it actually strikes. A copperhead won't hesitate at all but will strike blindly. I've been bitten 3 times by copperheads while out hunting plants. Thankfully I was wearing snake gaiters so no harm done. I keep gaiters in my truck and always wear them if a location looks "snakey". :)

I see copperheads often. I rarely see rattlers or cottonmouths.

We call those water moccasins and they are very aggressive. I've been chased by one.

Were just getting our owl population back from West Nile. If were going to have a extremely bad mosquito season I fear it will devastate the numbers again.
Hard to believe with how little rain we've had theres mosquitoes
I'm in the middle of the desert and we have mosquitos. We have had flys and bees out since Christmas.

Most places I’ve been in the southeast the words cottonmouth and water moccasin are used interchangeably. Both refer to the same venomous snake except in a place I lived in eastern Tennessee. There, water moccasin, refers to a harmless water snake and they only used the term cottonmouth to refer to the venomous snake. It was a strange little town. :D
