Gordon Lightfoot recently passed.
This song and many other of his works has a special meaning.. The father in law I never got to meet sailed Lake Superior as a young man with the Canadian Coast Guard.. He retired as a master light house keeper on the west coast of British Columbia..
My favorite song of his is his Rail Road Trilogy.. At about 4 minutes it goes .....over the mountains, over the planes, into the muskeg, into the rain, up the St. Lawrence all the way to Gaspa..... Canadian Pacific Railroad..

It's been many decades since I did anything like that. Back in the day, our family went and helped our uncle who had a farm not far from us. I helped on the wagon moving bales but really only rememer the itchy forearms for days afterwards. It made me glad I didnt live on a farm.
