prepping is about a lot more than stockpiling canned goods.
Yes, it includes stockpiling lots and lots of Toilet Paper.

I do not think the U.S should deploy any military in the streets to provide security and exspose them. They should only use law enforcement agencies for that. The military should stay protected and quarenteened to be ready for a military attack on our country.

I have lots of guns Bill, but not because I think that anyone is "out to get me". Some are investments and some I have because obama made me get them. More importantly most of my guns are for hunting. Some think they only need guns, lots of guns to deal with everything, cos they think the whole world is out to get them.
Happening nowNot setting up or now setting up?
Most of mine are for hunting too. In fact, most of my rifles are single shot rifles. Hardly what you would call a "formidable arsenal." I only have two that are for defensive purposes.

A show of enforcement can mean the difference between a few instances of looting/theft vs widespread chaos. They were more than likely called up by your state. (Governor) Like most MP units they train extensively in crowd control, riot reaction etc. Doubt that they are federalized yet probably for local assistance to the existing local and state law enforcement. They help keep looting and violence down (hopefully). Just their presence can sometimes be a deterrent.

I have an older savage over and under rifle that’s single shot for each barrel. It’s a 30/30 and 20ga. I like it for the simplicity and reliability but would still use an AR any day over it. I really like the option of getting off several rounds if ever needed. My rifles are really just for self defense, unless of course I can’t buy groceries then Bambi is in deep doo doo....Long story behind why I have single shots. My first rifle was a semi auto Browning BAR in 30-06 which was my primary deer rifle for many years. It got to where in cold weather it not go into battery on the second shot. I would pull the trigger and it just clicked, then I would have to clear the jam before getting off a second shot, which of course was too late by then.
I did kill a pile of deer on the first shot however. I decided that if I was going to hunt with a single shot rifle, I might as well get a real single shot rifle so it would be easier to manually reload than having to clear a jam. I sold the BAR, but for a few years I just hunted with lever actions until I finally found the single shot I wanted, a Browning High Wall in 30-06.
Hunting with a single shot instills a certain amount of discipline about shot selection.I have an older savage over and under rifle that’s single shot for each barrel. It’s a 30/30 and 20ga. "public health officials have told mayors that because of a lack of testing they should take whatever their local numbers of confirmed cases are and multiply them by 50."My county here in California has just issued a shelter-in-place order and will take place tonight at midnight. This was just issued minutes ago.

An interesting thought is even if THIS virus isn't a created bug from a Chinese lab, they now certainly see just how effective one can be. A real bad lethal created one by our enemies, China, see's what effect it would have on the US if this small bug threatens our economy, stock market, freedons, and causes this hysteria etc.
I live in Western NY and it's gotten crazy. All stores are picked over, all schools are suspended indefinitely. People are already starting to get crazy. I have been an "amature prepper" for a while a feel better suited than most ( long military/ combat experience), but now wish I had more done.
