In my state a burn permit is simple. I just go to the forestry service website. They have a Latitude/longtitude locator map and an 800 number. I just get my lat, long numbers and call them up. I give them my location and they verbally give me a permit number valid only for that day. Or, deny it, as the case may be.

I burn my pastures every few years. It's a very beneficial thing to do. Helps control weeds and insects.

Here's a field I burned last year in Feb. Did a controlled burn, took an hour to prep and another hour to do the burn.

This is what it looked like the next day....

They got a little payback for not using their brains yesterday. There was a nice stock tank (pond) that these people filled in last year with red clay. It had a good packed lime bottom and held water good. The workers drove a truck with a large dump bed trailer full of brush and trees they took down across what used to be the stock tank. The truck is stuck!!🤣

Pulling a burn permit cannot be that hard.
I agree, but no permits in a burn ban, but I had tree tops rotting in a field for four years.
Must be going to sale the land, fifty acres is plenty of room for a wood dump on the back forty.

They want to sell, but are asking over 2 million for the place! WILL NOT HAPPEN!! There's a tiny cabin up front they remodeled, but no house. They tore down the barns and pens! They did build a big metal building up front, but with no plumbing! It's built on top of an big old stock tank that the previous owners filled in! The building has sunk considerably and floods with even a little rain!!

Doesn't sound like a very savvy person/property owner. Could have gone the legal route and saved a lot of money that could have gone into the property.
Remember, these people are likely high crime. Cartel is what @Pearl has referred to them as, foreigners, they have no savvy in what to do with the land. It is likely a hiding place for something illegal.

They no longer want the property and don't care about anyone around!

Because the water level is so deep there most people buy it and have it trucked in. One of the first things is dig a cistern to catch as much as possible. You can buy 275 gal oil containers, veggie oil, for a fair price. So I would try for 3-4 of them. The remoteness with so-so roads, if you can call them roads, means trips to town maybe once or twice a week. Need a P O Box which doesn't really fit my plans, plus needing to get water using one of the oil containers to transport. Won't be able to fill it as it would be too heavy and take out the wheel bearings. Maybe 100 gal per trip. Needing 1 gal for one bag of cement means the foundation will be a while but I can stretch it using large rocks in the area. All mute point as I can't afford the down payment on that one. However there are several that I can afford at $300 down and $160 a month is the best and closer to Sierra Blanco. The next best is $300 and $300 a month which I think would work. Mesa on each side of a cut from runoff with 175 ft change in elevation. Still the same as above but much closer to town. Time will tell. Why would I hurt you? A good question!

I saw something from my home town, county, land selling for $20 an acre. Oh my goodness. But it was many decades ago, that that ad was placed, not any time currently. Someone is always looking for land. I would love to have a few, but the price of land seems to have gotten ridiculous.

I watch a YouTuber, Campervan Kevin. He bought a small acreage in Arizona. He has been living a bit of a nomadic lifestyle for a number of years. When he bought his land, he invited his friends to come and stay on his land. The friends come and go. One woman cleaned up a lot of his property, raking, moving stones to create parking areas, etc. There were 5 piles of burnable debris that she had created. Kevin contacted the local fire department and let them know he was going to burn his piles. On the burn day, the fire chief/captain and a crew showed up to check on the burn.

The place down the end of the road is under contract AGAIN!! Five acres, huge pipeline and huge power lines cut across the middle of it. House is uninsurable (in bad shape , very rotten, water leaks), so no mortgage company will touch it. $500,000! Has to be a cash deal, or someone getting a different kind of loan. Will it happen? Who would want it?

Sounds like a great place to cook meth! Maybe human trafficking layover spot? NSA listening post?

People are moving in...SQUATTERS??? The seller has not accepted the offer!! An old loud SUV, and an older pick up with a trailer were down there when I walked Bear yesterday evening. They left before dark because the power is off down there. Single guy next to us said they were moving furniture in, he alerted the previous owners. They told him they know the people wanting to buy it, but they didn't think their loan would go through!! More when I know more.....

Judging from the vehicles this does not sound like it will be an improvement. Pulling in a trailer also sounds more permaent than temporary. Fingers crossed and prayers sent. Hope this works out for you. 🤞 🙏

Flat bed trailer, not a camper!! Boxes on it! They are far enough away from me, I don't have to see them! I feel sorry for single guy, he still has the previous people's cow and bull (and calf), hope he doesn't end up with crappy people next to him!! And as crappy as the previous people were, I hope someone doesn't squat on them! They are divorcing and don't need that right now, even if it's people they know!!

So apparently the squatters are trying to buy the place at the end of the road. It's people the previous owners know, but they are having trouble getting a loan. This info is from single guy next door, he alerted the previous owners ( they actually still own it)! So the squatting continues.....

Update! The squatters got moved out! They left during the day on Sunday, single guy called the realtor and the property owner ( the wife, not her soon to be ex)! Property owner had friends come and haul their stuff out , and lock the gate. The realtor sent a locksmith, locks are changed! Seems the property owner ex husband was friends with the squatters, not the wife! There's a contract on the place for real now!
