Yes, it is grass. In fact, I planted some in some bald spots in my yard under a big oak where I was having problems getting grass to grow, and the soil was getting eroded badly. It grows like crazy, and has to be mowed often. I don't know what will happen with it when the weather gets hot, since it is winter wheat, but I was mainly trying to stabilize those spots until I could get something else growing there, like fescue. Not enough sun for the centipede to thrive. You can see in the picture that around the patch of wheat, there is more bare ground than centipede.
I think it would be interesting to let it mature and see what you could bake with it.Yes, it is grass. I'd have the city inspector down my throat again. Believe it or not, the city has an ordinance that makes it illegal to have "weeds or grass" over 18" high within 100 feet of a building.
But last time, what they were calling "weeds" were actually young oak trees. You can have big trees but not little trees? Go figure...

i could grow some on communal areas around here and nobody would know what it was, they'd probably ignore it, got a couple of people who wont trim their grass or hedges and its infringing on the pavement(sidewalk?).
Down in Fla the I was building a house on an acre lot. It was thickly wooded, and I liked that. I had to take down about six trees to squeeze the house and driveway in though. I still had 99% more trees than any other property in the area. They fined me 100 bucks for removing trees without a permit. Damned nazis! Here in Ga. I live in the country and pretty much no one cares what you do.
here's some of my new toys from yesterday..i also got 2 tiki torches from dollar general.and 1-5 foot folding table from walmart.figure the table is good for camping and family get togethers alike..i love the flashlight on the left,more then i figure i would..on account it shines across the field behind my home,better then i thought it would..
the canopy end,is the sitting/living room area.i had the windows zipped shut to begin with.i just opened them a couple minutes ago.and almost right away.i noticed a difference inside..
Well I am probably close to heat stroke, but I got the 4 new pear trees in the ground. It was a lot bigger job than I expected as I had to dig out the old Bradford pears, which have roots all the way to hell by the way! Then I had to drop a decent oak tree that was in the way of the sunlight. I didn't dig it out but cut the stump below the ground level.I got it cut into firewood size and about a third of it stacked in the firewood bins. I also hilled the trees hold water around them and got them watered in really well. So now I have two moonglow pears and three kiefer pears. Hopefully in three years I'll start getting pears. Anyone ever tried pear wine?
That really makes me want to go camping Jim. I have a creek just down the road that has a 4 mile trail going to a huge rock face waterfall. I've always wanted to pitch a tent back there for a couple days. There's trout in the creek too which are pretty good cooked over an open fire.
Does that mean you're ready to host the group???
It really would be good to get a few people together. With people spread all over the country, and world even, it's impossible to get a large group together. Except maybe Texas. There are so many preppers there it would be hard to throw a rock and not hit one!
so your the reason i have tha lump on my head.and all this time,i thought it was from that nap i took..

Several years ago I picked up an antique hand operated drill press. Last week I mounted it on a post in the barn and cleaned it up and oiled all the moving parts. It works great now, but there is one small part that is worn out that I'll have to take to a machinist and have a new one made. Next I need to find a set of bits, it doesn't take modern drill bits. This is just one more non electric tool that could come in handy some day.

I've collected a load of old tools over the years. I like to decorate the house with some of them, but the wife keeps me in check. She likes eating at Cracker Barrel, just not live in one. Anyways, I feel they may come in handy one day as well as look cool. I still use my electric tools first though.
Great news on one of my projects today! I finished all the plumbing and pressure tested it, with no leaks! Yeah! Most of the time when you do a large project there's at least one drip somewhere, and it's usually behind something or in a tough spot to get to. Anyways, on to the next phase!
I have been busy lately with stuff, cleaning up the yard from the winter, etc. I built some T posts for mounts for my 20 watt solar panels so when I take them camping with my pop up out in state or federal forest land I can keep the electricity going. I will post a couple of pictures.
Saturday we went to an indoor yard sale at the civic center. Wife got her girly stuff and I got a 20-60-60mm Simmons Spotting Scope for $15.00 and a Coleman propane lantern for $10.00. I was all giggly over the spotting scope. I have been wanting one for a while for LP/OP and other stuff.
A Harbor Freight store opened in Cadillac so that was cool. We bought some stuff that we had coupons for. I got a couple of the survival knifes for the tactical vests. A 4 1/2" electric cut off tool so I can make some caltrops out of different size nails. My national guard/prison correction officer buddy is going to weld them. He gets half, I get half, I prep, he welds. Got some other cool stuff but I don't remember. I'm on my 3rd or 4th 25oz Natural Ice, LOL.
I think I am way behind on cutting firewood. Experienced people correct me. Every time I have time its raining and other times nobody can or wants to go with me. I saw a video of a chain saw accident and it was narly. I take my IFAK every time I go cutting. but because of the video I don't want to go by myself on the back of the property. My luck accident, I go into shock, pass out and then bleed out. I told my wife that if she doesn't want to pay for firewood next winter she had better make an effort to come with me so she can be a spotter.
I guess that is it for now.

Started clearing out around the house site and up the hill to where the power plant and solar site is going. Cut about 300-400 trees so far. Made firewood out of the larger trees, the rest will go in a pile and burnt. Started on fencing in about 10 acres for the wife's mini donkeys and sheep. Only got a few posts in so far. We want to keep the small critters close to the house. The cattle will free range over the rest of the ranch. Going to try getting the tractor out tomorrow.
Finaly getting the alignments done on car.like i should of done back who knows when.gonna look into good used tires next.still needstilluple of things for camping.

Don't know about where you are, but there are tons of used tire stores around here....
used tire stores here to.in which i already plan on going to one friday..the car seems to be getting better gas milage already ...

Those are interesting buckets. I've not seen any like them before. What were they for originally?
the guy said for ammo.i guess i should of taken one bucket and sat it to one side.

We used to get them with axle and bearing grease in them year and years ago though they were blue, red, green and black buckets depending on supplier from Texaco, Sinclair, Richfield and Master Lubricants to name a few... good memories
well.i got one ammo can full of snacks(junk food) for my camping trip..another mostly filled with store bought canned foods.and more junk food..the other three is for home canned foods...i have several old newspapers i'll use to wrap the canned foods in,before putting them into the canisters..
