What Are You Having For Dinner

Teamed up with my brother to make a simple chicken soup. I boiled the water in a kettle, he mixed it with chicken better than bouillon and poured it into the pressure cooker. I put in the boneless skinless chicken thighs. Then I had to ask him where the soup setting was because I can't read anything on the pressure cooker (not enough light and it has weird font that is too small for me to see). Later on I tossed in a couple of eggs and whisked them around. It was very soothing to eat. Mom had two helpings and really enjoyed it. We'll have to get more chicken and btb as well as some veggies to mix in next time.

Chicken noodle soup sounds good. I admit, I prefer the noodle-O type because the regular noodles always end up dangling on my chin. LOL. I need to find mom's recipe for drop noodles, which her grandmother called kanadle (kah nayd lee). It's almost like dumplings. Batter is dropped into hot water from a spoon. She always made that with her chicken paprikash soup. I don't remember all of the ingredients but she would boil a whole chicken, add some seasonings- only one I know for sure was Hungarian sweet paprika-- then add in the drop noodles. Once it was done cooking she mixed in sour cream.

I didn't want to slog out in the snow to hit the grocery store to cook dinner tonight, so it's leftover Chinese for us tonight. One dinner from our local restaurant is good for three large sized meals. $13.95 for a plate of Chinese food sounds high to me, until you break that down into cost-per-meal. It's actually a pretty good bargain. I get the Kung Pao Chicken tonight, and the wife gets the Sesame Shrimp.

We had early chili, the new one without beans. Corn chips and guacamole (store bought). Thinking about making some steamed shrimp. Some of yall make it sound like the food to eat for this evening. We were going to make chex snack mix but now I've eaten all the peanuts. LOL Forgot to buy more. Still couldn't find much wheat chex.

Learn something new every day! I'd never heard the word "Rumaki". So I looked it up... I've seen liver in a blanket just like I've seen pigs in a blanket, just never heard the word "Rumaki". Not a liver fan so I'll continue to pass.

I vacuum sealed up a big pkg of ground chuck this afternoon for the freezer. I had .314 ounces of beef left over but no buns. I made a burger on toasted white bread, yummy!

I didn't know either. I would eat liver. If there isn't much else to eat. :ghostly:

Black eyed peas with smoked turkey necks, cornbread and collard greens.
Do collard greens taste similar to anything else, as a reference point? I don't think I've ever had any before. I've always had a negative opinion of them, which is nothing more than an unfounded bias since I've never tried them! Just by looking at your picture of them, my brain is coming up with a bitter, Brussels sprouts-like taste in my imagination. But I like Brussels sprouts!

Maybe I did have collard greens before, but my brain is not remembering it if i did. My memory for things like that has always been pitiful.
