A bit of an adventure. Found some sausage in the freezer, sliced it up and put it in a fry pan. Added diced up onion and then pulled out the bags of cherry tomatoes and peppers I picked when I cleared out the garden. Added tomatoes to the pan, then started on the peppers. Did a few green ones, a couple of red ones, and then came across a small, wrinkly pinkish yellowish one. Started chopping it then thought I'd try a piece. OHMYGOODNESSIMONFIRE!!!! Just the tiniest piece caused a nuclear reaction, burned my tongue, melted my teeth, made my nose run, my eyes cry, and the top of my head blow off. If I hadn't been barefoot I'm sure it would have knocked my socks off.
I didn't really do much with the garden this year and had massive die-offs of my seedlings so I completely lost track, but I'm pretty sure I didn't plant nuclear peppers. There were sweet peppers and cayenne peppers and a couple of jalapenos, but where this one came from, I don't know.
Needless to say that pepper didn't get added to the pan. As it was I may have overdone it with the cayennes a little bit, but I generally like spicy food. Though maybe that was the leftover spicy from the mystery pepper. My tongue still feels like I drank hot chocolate too soon.
I would have enjoyed watching my Husband try that pepper. He always liked the really spicy stuff.

I made this last night, and it turned out pretty well, although, I would recommend using two pounds of ground beef. She doesn't give the best of instructions. At the 2:30 mark she adds "just a little bit of this". I have no clue. Maybe that is the dehydrated onions she mentions earlier. I didn't add anything there. She also doesn't say how much sour cream she uses, nor does she add it anywhere in the video. I used four ounces, and added it after the cream of chicken soup. I will make it again. I liked it but my wife didn't have any last night, and she is the one who requested a tater tot casserole. :dunno:

Those kind of casseroles are always good. I make mine different everytime. I'm one of those "wing it" cooks!

  • My wife's Spaghetti Bolognese
  • Italian salad (she imitates a great local restaurant salad)
  • Naan bread (dipped into olive oil on a plate, with Italian herbs ground up onto the surface of the oil)
  • Italian red wine
She thinks this is an easy meal. "Tonight, I thought we would just have spaghetti," she said.

"Never say 'just" in front of 'spaghetti," I said, while I selected the wine.

More than I deserve on a Tuesday night.

I had shepherd's pie but while I was microwaving the mashed potatoes there was a pop and the microwave shut off. I had to move the potatoes to the pan and cook them before mixing the rest of the stuff in (spent at least 10min trying to remove microwave's plug from the outlet extender). Almost burned the potatoes. But it came out ok.

Beef fajita mix enhanced with veggies, including hot peppers from my garden, there are still a few left, lol. Bought the fajita mix at a good price the other day, now it's time to cook it up and eat it, 10-4? I have a couple of Albuquerque flour tortillas left in the fridge, so I'll probably use those to wrap the fajita mix, kinda like a burrito. Works for me! We're not high maintenance here: as long as the food doesn't give us botulism or salmonella, we're good to go, LOL. Oh, yeah, it has to be TASTY too, that's our only requirement! 😉

I'm the leftover king in the family. I hate to throw away any food at all.

My favorite nights are when there are enough leftovers in the fridge for everyone in the family to have a meal, and I tell them, "I'm not cooking tonight. Pick which leftovers you want and fend for yourselves!" 😂

What's a Granny burger? Splain!!
Burger, pickles mustard/mayo no veggies but the pickles. kind of like a full sized Krystal.

Dinner tonight was Beefaroni and creamed corn. I'm using up all my old chow stash, so I'm going to have an interesting diet this month! looks like lots of canned fruits, bean dip, chili and tomato soup. looks like its bean burrito time! everything on the menu is about to be or already out of date OR has spots of rust. anything too janky goes to the cats/coons/possums.

Remember, acidy tomato products are bad for gout!!♥️

New recipe, literally fresh off the grill:
Drain a can of tropical fruit cocktail and caramelize in butter.
Shred leftover rotisserie chicken into the mix and let simmer 5 minutes.
Serve in a burrito shell.
